Here's Sherlock's point of view of the last chapter, I hope you like it and let me know what you think and thanks to everyone for reading this :)
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters. They belong to BBC and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Sherlock woke up in the early afternoon with a pounding head. He looked around and realizing that he had somehow gotten back to his flat and into bed, he rolled over and promptly went back to sleep.
A few hours later he woke again, glad that the pounding in his head had somewhat subsided. It was then that some of the events of the morning flashed back into his mind. He remembered something about hugging John, stealing pens and a cab ride. He cringed at the memory, now John will never want to see me again, he thought.
Sherlock just lay there, thinking for a while, and he realized something, he didn't want this opportunity to pass him by or he'd regret it for the rest of his life. Meeting someone like John was something that was only ever going to happen once. Someone who treated him like a normal person, who didn't call him names and who genuinely enjoyed being around him. So Sherlock was going to try. Whether it was just be friends, ask him to move in or tell John that he loved him, whatever it was, he would try. He wouldn't let his insecurities get the best of him. He'd seen how happy John had been seeing Sherlock again after being apart for less than a day. Sherlock would do whatever it took to make sure his John was happy again.
XoXoX
Sherlock had spent the rest of the day lying on the couch trying to think of some sort of plan on what he should do about John. He wanted to just go to the hospital and see him but he was too nervous, especially after the morning's events. And what if John didn't want to see him? What if he'd only been being nice since he was Sherlock's doctor. He did contemplate taking dinner to the hospital for John but he couldn't go through with it. Sherlock didn't like to admit it but he was scared, and he didn't know how to overcome that fear. He was considering asking Mrs Hudson for advice but then remembered she was out and that was when he heard a knock at the door. He dragged himself off the couch and down the stairs, wondering who could be at the door.
When he swung the door open and saw it was John, he was shocked and for all his brains he couldn't think of a thing to say.
"John?" he asked, not sure if what he was seeing was real or not.
John then said something about dinner but Sherlock was still too shocked, and rather confused about what John was doing here. He heard the word dinner again and that snapped his mind back into focus. Realizing that the guy he'd spent most of the day thinking about was standing on his doorstep with what looked like Chinese food, Sherlock motioned for John to enter. He shut the door behind him and led John up the stairs and into the flat. John placed his food on the table then turned his attention on Sherlock. Sherlock was looking anywhere but John, rather embarrassed about the earlier events.
"I didn't think I'd be seeing you again, especially after earlier. I'm sorry about that by the way," said Sherlock, still not looking at John, he wasn't sure how John would react about his actions that morning.
John then said not to worry about it and Sherlock told him what he remembered. He could feel himself blushing and he couldn't help it, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't stop the red tinge spreading across his cheeks. He was looking at John now and John mentioned bringing him home and putting him to bed and he blushed even more. They were both smiling now and he couldn't look away, lost in the depth and sadness of John's eyes. Luckily, John broke the eye contact first because Sherlock honestly didn't think he could've.
John had just said he had to get back to the hospital soon and Sherlock wasn't sure why he'd even taken the cab ride over to his flat in the first place. Was it just because John wanted to check on Sherlock as his doctor? Or did John really care enough to drive that far in his dinner break just to see him. Sherlock really hoped it was the second one.
"You didn't have to come all the way over here just for dinner," said Sherlock, trying to figure out which answer was more likely, was John just his doctor or was he more?
Did John just say he'd wanted to? That couldn't be right. No one had ever willing gone out of their way to spend time with him, well except John or course. Sherlock was beginning to find that John may be the exception to a lot of things he'd previously thought about people.
"Truthfully, I wasn't sure if you'd want to keep seeing me after you'd been discharged."
Now John was just being stupid, of course he would want to see him again, John was just being ridiculous. Now Sherlock was frowning, had he read something wrong, were him and John not friends?
Sherlock let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding when John had reassured him that they were, in fact, friends.
Conversation between them was easier after that but Sherlock was nervous, John showing up had given him to courage to make a move of his own. Maybe he'd start with something small, like dinner. He could offer to bring John some dinner the next night? That seemed like a reasonable thing to do, even if it was just a thank you dinner.
Sherlock summoned all the courage he had, he'd never been this nervous before which was ridiculous since he was just asking a friend to have dinner with him.
"Tomorrow, how about I bring dinner to you at the hospital? We can continue our little tradition that seems to have started," said Sherlock, smiling down at John and while Sherlock knew he looked confident, he didn't feel it.
And then John had agreed to meet tomorrow and then he'd left. Sherlock couldn't stop the grin that spread across his face. He had to remind himself that tomorrow was in no way a date, no matter how much he wished it was. He was left smiling like an idiot for the rest of the night while he tried to think of experiments he could conduct to pass the time until his dinner-that-was-almost-a-date-but-not-quite tomorrow evening.
AN: I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading and don't forget to review :) and they're both idiots!
I can't say when the next chapter will be up but you can guess what the next chapter is going to be about. Also, there's going to be a surprise from Sherlock in the next chapter so look out for that!
