Izuma swiveled around when he heard bushes rustling near him, and stepped back asa shadow suddenly loomed over him. He fixed his crooked glasses and smiled sweetly, "Yo, Miki. How are you?"
The black hair man stood there, wearing a white t-shirt and denim jacket tied around his waist. He stood straight, fists clenched, ready to move within a second, as a fighter should be when they enter a battlefield. But his eyebrows rose and confusion swimming inside his black orbs,"Izuma-san. what are you doing here, in the middle of the forest?" He asked and looked over the injured Nene as he winched. She was taking a burn of Izuma's brutal attack badly, with a black eye and shallow cuts here and there. He could almost smeel blood from her, it was worrying, "I never took you for a bully, Izuma-san."
"I could say the same to you." Izuma stood up, still plastering a wide smile on his milky face. "What are you doing here? How did you find me?"
Miki was silent. But Izuma caught a small movement he made and rose an eyebrow when he saw what Miki tried to hide behind his back. "A tracker?"
His pupil jolted a little bit, facing away from his mentor's scrutinizing eyes, but Izuma could still see pink dusting his smooth complexion, proving that whatever he thought was spot on. "W-well...I promised him that I'd always be there to protect what's important to me..."
"I don't think he meant "always be there" to be "place a tracking chip on Izuma.""
The pink turned into tomato red, an imaginary smoke blew out from his ears
Izuma laughed. "Well...that's okay. I can understand how paranoid you can be."
"Yeah. Especially with someone like you," he faintly caught Miki muttering under his breath, trying to be discreet but was heard nonetheless, it made him laugh.
Izuma noticed Shizuka hiding behind a tree just around his peripheral vision, of course knew about Miki's arrival but didn't want him to notice her there. Izuma put his finger to his mouth, a universal gesture for her to stay quiet. She nodded and backed more into her hiding spot, away from Miki's sight. Izuma's smile dropped and his gaze turned cold, but Miki was too busy trying to hide his embarrassment to see it.
Though it's a pity, that you decided to use that device right now...
"Izuma-san, seriously though, what are you doing out here?! I was so worried that you suddenly disappeared this morning and..." when the said person he sought this half a day was nowhere to be seen. He wildly looked around, but Izuma was nowhere, having disappeared like a wind. Miki adored his mentor, but things like this seriously unnerved him. Which was why he planted tracking chips on all of Izuma's clothes. Honestly, he was surprised his mentor hadn't noticed before now.
He was ready to go track him down for the second times, but he was interrupted by a groan. "Oh, crap!" He internally smack himself, being forgotten about the injured girl that was sprawled behind him. He sat down, immediately rummaging through his back pocket and fishing out a rolled bandage and a small bottle of antiseptic. "I'm sorry, Omori-san. Hold still, I'm going to patch you up."
Nene tried to jerked back, wary of Miki's touch, but the said man just went about his business, ignoring her flinching every time their skin grazed each other. Nene was speechless, confused. But then after a few minutes, realization dawned upon her and she spoke, her voice hoarse.
"You...don't know anything?"
"Don't know what?" he answered back, eyes still focused on Nene's battered figure. He was now trying to bandage her left leg. He grimaced when he saw blue blossoming on her ankle. She would likely not be able to walk properly for a month or so judging from the severity of the wound. At least no tendons are severed, he assumed,. "Enough about that, though. We have to bring you to the hospital. I can't believe Izuma did this to you. A friendly match should've not ended this way. He's too rough, geeze~"
Before she was speechless, now her jaw was wide open. She was gaping like a fish out of water. She couldn't comprehend this turn of events at all. However, one thing was for sure.
Nene grasped his wrist, startling Miki out from his duty. He saw her brown eyes staring on his own black, tired but full of determination. "Miki. you have to get out of here."
"Wha-"
Nene shook her head, "No, not just from here. You have to get out of this country. Bring your family to the other side of the world, change your name and appearance or something. Anything! Just...get out of here! Even if it's only you-"
.
"-for him...you have to be safe!"
Hilda was up early. She couldn't sleep very well as she had been thinking all night about what Oga had said last night.
.
"I have a sister."
"I think...Furuichi tried to hide this fact from me."
.
"Why would he, though?" That was a question swimming inside her head all night, disturbing her beauty sleep. While the man with the problem himself was sleeping like a log beside her son. Baby Beel sure warmed up to him quickly, seeing that the green haired baby was sprawled on his chest and the man himself was cool with it. Hilda was not still sure how to feel about that, "why would Furuichi try to hide that from Oga? He should have told him everything, especially with amnesia like that. A slightest clue about his past would have appreciated."
.
"They tortured everyone for their enjoyment, stole money just for their own pleasure." Furuichi turned away. "And they killed every innocent civilian."
.
Hilda stops on her track, face suddenly turns pale, body rigid, "Or...maybe..."
His sister was already-
Hilda jolted, emerald orbs trained on a closed back door. She had heard something. Or actually, someone talking. Curiosity gnawed her. Hilda knew it was maybe not a good idea at all, judging from her experience with Behemoth 34 pillars several days ago, that she was almost killed by them if Oga didn't came to save her. But her feeling told her, this is important. This is important if she want to help the brown haired man. A man, that change her life entirely (for a better or not, she couldn't tell, at least for now). Hilda tiptoed toward the wooden door and realized that it was actually slightly ajar. She peeked through and saw Saotome stood there, a silver phone on his ear.
"Shut up, I tried my best, you know!" he growled, eyes menacing, "I tried every damn thing, but nothing's working!"
He was silent for five minutes, eyebrows kept getting lower and lower every time the caller said something-nasty? Disturbing? Bad? She didn't know but Saotome sure didn't like what the other person said, judging from the way he hissed his next words. But because it was morning and not a single body was awake besides her, his voice was as clear as a bell.
"I can't do that, not now! I've to kick my guests out before I kill Furuichi, that bastard!"
She gasped, hands flew to cover her open mouth. A very big mistake, as Saotome surely heard that and, before she knew it the door was suddenly swung open. Hilda slid down the wall, petrified by the embedded sword that was thrown through the door, mere inches away from her skull.
"You heard that, didn't you?" She snapped her attention back to the source of the voice, eyes widening. Saotome stood there, lips thin and gaze turned murderous. She could almost imagine the background darkening and creepy music starting to play (people had said to her that one's mind could do weird things, like dramatize an emergency situation to almost movie-like standards or something. And Hilda was now experiencing that the hard way, she hated it)
"You heard everything." Not a question, but a dangerously growled statement. Her whole body was shaking, but with a burst of energy she suddenly got up and started running toward their shared room. She has to get her baby back and out from this house. Belatedly, Hilda realized that, where does she want to go? Her house was burned down, obviously she couldn't go there. But the young mother shook her head, golden lock swaying left and right. No, more importantly, she has to run away from this place. She has to! Or else-
Her escape was hindered when she bumped into a wall. Or rather, a body that was so muscular she mistook it for a brick wall.
"Whoa there, girl. Slow down." She looked up and saw Tojo's sleepy face. It looked like he was just getting up. Maybe he heard the slam of the door. She sure hoped so. "Why are you in such a hurry? Need any help to buy ingredients for breakfast today?"
Hilda didn't have time for this, she had to get away! She had to rescue her child (and Lamia, and Alaindelon, and Oga) But Tojo's grip was too tight, it actually started to hurt her. Before she could scream her way out, a cold voice was heard, and it chilled the whole room.
"Tojo. " She almost could see Saotome there, with a knife clutched in his hand and eyes narrowed like a hawk even though she was facing the bulky man right now. The image was terrifying enough, Hilda was frozen in shock. A man that had rescue Oga from a near death, a man that treat them nicely, a man that offered them to stay at his cabin after her house was burned down, a man that Oga's friend. Was that all a lie? All this time, is he-, . "Release her."
The said orange haired man stood there, hands still clutching Hilda's shoulder side by side. A moment pass without either man saying anything. But Tojo was first to react. His small beady eyes got even smaller, but his grin widened, as feral as a carnivorous animal. And it raised the hair on her back.
(They're dangerous.)
"I see. The rumors were true. So you're that mysterious person, huh?" Tojo laughed, eager to start a fight even this early in the morning (but he still held Hilda like a lifeline). "A man that moves like a ninja, never to be seen even in daylight. A man that can kill a person from miles away with a flick of a finger. A man that fucker trusted just to spy on us..."
.
.
His dark eyes, full of contempt, full of hatred, stared at Tojo's own black.
.
"The shadow, Saotome Zenjurou."
