IM ON A ROLL! I've been writing a lot today, and think I'll get to update much faster now! SCHOOLS OVER WOOHOO YAYYYYYY! I get so excited but tbh after a week staying at home gets boring. But it's also a good thing because I can write whenever I want! That means no long monthly waits where you're not sure if I died or something! Yayyy! Anyway, enough about me and my boring life. Read on my lovelies!

Disclaimer: Nickelodeon has been refusing my calls. Unfortunately I still haven't gained the rights to Avatar, what is the point in life.

"Katara?"

Sokka sighed, looking around the saddle at his sleeping companions. Zuko had stopped steering to get rest that he very much needed; they all needed to sleep. Appa was smoothly gliding across the sky, no clouds or rough winds. The air was clean; the ever-present stench of smoke long since vanished. Zuko made up his mind, saying they had lost the Fire Nation a little while after leaving the temple. The small group, only halfway functioning now, was hanging on by a very thin thread, not knowing where to turn for help. No one had the answers; they were losing hope now that the comet's arrival was near.

Sokka relaxed next to his sisters limp body, letting her head rest against his shoulder much like he did when they were younger. "I was hoping you'd wake up," he mumbled, laughing to himself to fill the empty feeling in his chest. It was harder now to speak to her than he had originally thought; his throat felt like it was growing tighter with each word that passed his lips. He knew she probably couldn't hear him, she reacted to nothing, but it didn't stop him from coming to her with his problems, hoping she'd wake up and fix them.

"You're never gonna wake up are you?" he asked, looking down at her. She looked peaceful, like she was in a better place, without war or hate. Somewhere she deserved to be. "We're heading to Ember Island. Zuko thinks we're pretty close, but I don't know."

Toph turned in her sleep, and Sokka looked around the saddle once again, making sure the others were asleep. Aang was near where Toph sat, resting against one of the rolled up sleeping bags. Sokka still had no idea what he had done, and why he took his little sister to the spirit world. Maybe it was an accident, but the longer they were away from their bodies, the more fear settled its way in.

"We're so lost without you guys," Sokka muttered, looking from Aang back to his sister. "What are we supposed to do? You're the one that knows what's best, help me out." When he got no response he sighed, giving up for only a moment before he started back at it again. "You've always been there Katara. What am I supposed to do now that you're gone? We need you guys; I need you guys. I'm supposed to protect you, but… I cant," he said, sniffling as he wiped at his eyes.

"Sokka?"

Suki sat up, stretching her arms above her head as she yawned. "You need to sleep," she said, gazing at him from across the saddle.

"What are we going to do? The comet's almost here, how are we supposed to beat the Firelord without Aang?" Sokka asked.

"Sokka, you can't think like that. They'll come back; they have to. Just have faith in them," Suki replied, rubbing her eyes with the heel of her hand. "It'll be ok, you'll see," she added, giving him a faint smile before she lay back down, returning to sleep within a matter of minutes. Sokka relaxed, putting his mind at ease, trying to sleep like Suki had suggested. He glanced at Katara once more, and he could have sworn he saw her move her head. He blinked, shaking his head before closing his eyes, finally submitting to rest.

Katara's eyes opened slowly, her lids feeling heavy, as if she was just pulled out of a deep sleep. She moved her head, rubbing her unbraided hair against the rough ground. Pushing herself up on shaky arms, she surveyed her surroundings, though there was nothing much to see. All around her was a thick grey fog, which seemed to flow elegantly just an inch or so from the earth. She stood on wobbly legs, spinning around to see the fog every way she turned.

"Where am I?" she asked herself, not being able see a clear path in front of her. She barely remembered what Koh had said, but she did recall what he had told her of this fog. "Don't let it get to you," she told herself, swiping her hands in front of her to clear the heavy haze. She started with baby steps, stumbling around, unable to see where the cliff's edge was. When she looked above her, the only thing visible was the thick blanket, what Koh said would drive her insane.

"I have to get out of here." Katara made her way a few feet ahead, clearing the fog in front of her with her hands the best she could. Trying to bend was pointless; it didn't work here. "I have to help Aang," she told herself, trying to keep her mind clear though she already felt the fog's toll, not sure of how long she had been in the prison.

"You can't help Aang."

Katara jumped slightly. Her heart skipped a beat at the sound of another voice in the fog, her own voice. She turned around slowly, cautious of her surroundings. It would be a lie to say she wasn't terrified when she saw a mirror image of herself, a much darker image.

"You can't help Aang, don't feed yourself lies, Katara. I thought you knew better?"

Katara swallowed, a lump forming in her throat, making it hard for her to utter a single sound. "It's just the fog, don't listen to it," she told herself, closing her eyes tight only to reopen them, relieved to find herself alone once more. "It's just the fog, everything's gonna be fine."

She paced herself, controlling her breathing, giving herself encouraging thoughts."You're never getting out of here," she mumbled, a moment later stopping in her tracks, confused as to why she would say something so negative. It was like she was losing control of herself, not able to push away these negative thoughts. "Ugh! Stop it!" she yelled, bawling her fists up in frustration.

"Why? I'm only telling you the truth."

Again her own image stood in front of her, this time not managing to startle her. Her reflection copied every move Katara made, stepping where she stepped, thinking what she thought. "You're going to die in here. You know, and I know," it started, wearing a smirk as it walked around her. "That Aang's dead. You can't save him, you can't save anyone."

"You're lying!" Katara snapped, turning her head to lock eyes with the image. She had once thought that it was all a trick, but now, she didn't know what to believe. Maybe it was right; maybe she couldn't save anyone.

"Am I? See, because, I know I'm right. When are you going to stop denying things? Face it, stop being a coward." It laughed to itself; a sick grin plastered its face. "Poor baby, all alone. No avatar, no mother… you don't know what to do with yourself."

"Stop it! You don't know anything!" Katara yelled, covering her ears with her palms in a futile attempt to block its harassments. Though her ears were covered, her own voice flooded her eardrums. It seemed like the image's voice grew louder as she attempted to shut it out.

"No, I think I know everything. You're so messed up; you're unfixable. I don't see why you even try; nothing's going to stop this war. Just give up, face it like everyone else!" it demanded, as Katara shook her head though she was agreeing silently. She grunted as she started to run her fingers through her thick hair, her digits twisting the locks as she pulled on them, her voice unable to leave her alone. A war was going on inside the water bender's head, making it pulse and ache.

"Aang can stop this war! I know he can! I won't give up!" she screamed, the determined sound in her voice fading as she began to pace in a circle. To an onlooker it seemed as if she was talking to herself, unable to end her argument. The minutes grew as she continued to move, her speed decreasing as she spoke softer. "I wont give up," she spoke, her head drooped as she came to a stop. In a moment her knees buckled, and she fell to the cracked Earth, her thoughts so impossible to control.

"I can't give up," she muttered, her voice cracking, "I can't give up." Her arms held herself as she began to rock back and forth, setting a rhythm as she repeated the same line again and again. She would shake her head every so often, rocking as an attempt to take her away from reality. Katara was strong, but the fog prison was pushing her, seeing how long it would take before she reached her breaking point. Her mind betrayed her, leaving her vulnerable and alone, these built up thoughts plummeting on her without relent.

"I give up."
