Chapter 14

Kurumu awoke slowly, every part of her body hurt. 'Damn it feels like I got run over by a train. The only time I have hurt worse than this was when Igneel found me.' Looking around Kurumu found that she was in a large cave lying on a bed. Dragging her body up to a sitting position Kurumu groaned.

"Kurumu your awake!" An unknown voice trilled from behind her. She tried to turn around to find out whose voice it was but moving hurt. Cringing in pain she fell back to the bed. "Oh you're still hurting, hold on a moment." She laid there waiting for the pain to ease off, suddenly it did. Opening her eyes she found a girl who looked to be around thirteen, standing above her with light cascading down from her hands. Kurumu quickly started to feel better every where the light was touching her.

"Whatever you are doing please don't stop." Kurumu sighed. This caused the girl to giggle as she continued to heal Kurumu. The pain felt as if it was being washed away by warm water.

"That's all I can do right now." Wendy said with a huff after about five minutes of healing. "I have been healing you like this once every hour, for the past nine hours."

Kurumu was shocked and would have set bolt right up in bed, had her body not felt so heavy. Instead she simply gave Wendy a tired smile. "Thank you for helping me Miss." 'Moka must have damn near killed me if this girl has been healing me like that nine times now.' Looking around again Kurumu finally got up the nerve to ask. "Pardon me Miss but who are you and where are we now?"

Wendy smiled at Kurumu. "I am Wendy Marvel, sky dragon slayer and guild mate to Natsu and Moka. On your other question I have no idea where we are now." She said with a shrug.

Kurumu looked like she had been slapped. "What do you mean guild mate to Natsu and Moka?"

Looking a bit startled Wendy said. "I mean I am in the same guild as Natsu and Moka why does that surprise you so much?"

With a blank look Kurumu asked Wendy. "Could you tell me the whole story about Natsu?"

Blinking a few times Wendy thought about it. "Sure I guess I can tell you, but only if you tell me why you are so taken with Natsu."

Kurumu shook her head no wonder Natsu acted the way he did to her. After hearing Wendy's story Kurumu had set down to think things over, and she had come to realize that she over played her hand. 'I pushed him so hard that I almost pushed him completely away from me. I just hope he will forgive me for starting a fight with Moka.' Kurumu heard Wendy returning with a tray full of tea and cakes.

"So have you worked though all I told you Kurumu?" Wendy asked with a smile as she poured Kurumu a cup of tea.

Sighing Kurumu said "I think so. Natsu may hate me because of the things I have done to him and Moka."

Reaching out Wendy patted Kurumu's hand. "I do think you get it. You see all of us at Fairy Tail are family, but Natsu takes it a step farther. He considers his friends to be his family, and from everything you have told me he counts you as a friend."

Kurumu groaned "what you are saying makes sense, but there is only so much a person can forgive. I was so blindly trying to win a place in his heart that I tried to kill his chosen mate, without even realizing how strong that bond was for a dragon slayer. I claimed to love him but it was all still just a game in my mind. If I understood you correctly when Moka and I fought if I had killed her, I would have cursed Natsu to mourn her loss for all time."

Wendy looked at Kurumu sadly. "Yes you would have."

"Yet you still tell me that I need to go to Natsu and apologize. How in the seven hells could anyone forgive what I have done to him. I can't forgive myself so there is no way I can ask him to forgive me. I would be much better off to ask him not to hate me and then live out eternity as his servant… I guess I should say his and Moka's servant." Kurumu said as her tears started falling.

Walking over to Kurumu Wendy gently rubbed her shoulder. "You still don't understand it fully Kurumu. Natsu is the very embodiment of Fairy Tail's beliefs. Natsu will never abandon a friend, he may be mad and he may kick your kiester around for a while but he will never give up on you."

The tears slowed a bit as Kurumu turned to look at Wendy. "So even with all I have done he might forgive me?"

"I think he would but you will need to be honest with him, and you will probably have to apologize to Moka." Wendy said thoughtfully.

Kurumu's frown deepened. "I owe her an apology. Natsu was just so nice and he treated me like a person instead of a sex toy. All things considered I couldn't help but fall for him."

"I know what you mean Natsu saved me more times than I can count, and to be honest I have a small crush on him. Even with everyone that cares about him, now that Natsu's heart has finally chosen he will love her for as long as she lives." Wendy said.

Kurumu snorted "Well at least he chose an immortal."

Wendy blinked "Moka is Immortal?"

Arching her eyebrow Kurumu smiled. "Yeah Natsu confessed to her without knowing she was, I think that is part of the reason it hit Moka so hard. He loved her thinking he would only have a few years with her, and was willing to accept the heart ache that would come when she passed."

"That would make it a special moment…" Wendy looked at Kurumu for a moment longer then stood up and called to the darkness. "I think she understands now so please let it go this time. She won't do it again. She is even willing to apologize to Moka." Wendy said as she bowed deeply.

"Wendy who are you talking to… OH SHIT IGNEEL!" Kurumu screamed as she pulled out her wings to take flight.

"Kurumu stop!" Igneel said his voice shaking the cave with its power.

Kurumu wanted to fly away. In fact she was trying to but her wings refused to work. "I am so sorry Igneel. I didn't know what would happen if I hurt Moka. Please don't change me back." She whimpered.

Igneel sighed "I swear nymphs are such a handful. Kurumu I am not going to do anything to you please calm down." Waiting until she stopped panicking Igneel continued. "You should thank Wendy for calming me down while you recovered. It was my intention to punish and humiliate you for what you did to Moka. However Wendy with her kind heart made me rethink that. Now that she has explained everything to you I won't have to worry about any more stunts from you is that correct?"

Kurumu bowed her head. "Yes sire I will behave."

"Good then I need to train you a bit, Wendy you are welcome to watch as well but you will not be able to use these skills for several centuries."

"I understand Igneel but I will stay and watch." Wendy said with a smile.

Kurumu turned to Wendy. "Thank you so much for helping me. I hope we can be friends."

"Your welcome Kurumu and I think we already are friends. I look forward to getting to know you better. You know if you ever get tired of hanging around Natsu you are always welcome to come visit me." Wendy said with a smile.

Bowing her head Kurumu said "Thanks but I am sworn to Natsu's service so I will have to stay with the love birds." Kurumu said with a wiry grin.

Igneel snorted so hard it blew Kurumu up against Wendy and dropped them both to the floor in a heap. "You are almost as dense as my son."

Disentangling herself Kurumu looked up at Igneel. "What do you mean by that?"

As Wendy accepted a hand up from Kurumu she said. "Do you remember what I said before about Natsu and his friends?"

Thinking a moment Kurumu answered. "That Natsu counts his friends as his family."

Wendy nodded. "Now take it a step farther. If Natsu counts his friends as family and you are his friend then…"

"Then I am his family?" Kurumu asked feeling like she was missing something.

Wendy face palmed. Causing Igneel to chuckle "I told you nymphs were slow learners, but this one is even more than usual. Kurumu a person's family holds a special place in their heart."

Kurumu thought about that one for a moment then she went beat red. "WAIT A MINUTE YOU TRICKED ME IGNEEL!"

Igneel winched at she shrieked in fury. 'Damn her voice hurts my ears'. "I did not trick you I said it would be up to you whether or not you won a place in his heart."

Kurumu drew in a deep breath to reply, but Wendy quickly turned and placed a hand over her mouth. "Please calm down Kurumu, I thought my ears would bleed from you shrieking that loud."

Looking over at Wendy Kurumu saw tears in her eyes and nodded to her. "Oh Wendy I am so sorry I didn't mean to hurt you. I was trying to hurt the big lying lizard over there."

Igneel growled softly. "Well you did cause me discomfort with that voice. As for me lying to you the only thing I did not tell you was that you had already won a place in his heart as his friend."

Kurumu scowled "You made it sound like I had to become his lover in order to be free of the oath".

Looking crossly at Kurumu Igneel growled again. "I neither said nor implied anything about procreation. That is something Natsu will only do with his mate."

When Kurumu opened her mouth to speak Wendy cut her off. "It's a dragon thing Kurumu. He won't see what you are saying in the way you mean it because it's not something a dragon would do."

"Fine I'm sorry Igneel lets just forget the whole mess. You said you needed to train me on something?"

Glowering a moment longer Igneel nodded. "Yes I need to teach you how to control your dimensional shift. If not its untelling where you will end up."

"Ok so this will teach me how to travel between worlds?" Kurumu asked.

"Yes it will, also Wendy would like for you to take her to visit her mother, once you have learned what you need to know.

Kurumu turned to Wendy with a large smile. "I will be glad to it's the least I could do to thank you for all the time and effort you spent healing me."

Yokai Academy

Moka had just let the head master's office after getting permission for Natsu and her to leave school for the day. Chuckling she recalled it had been almost imposable to get him to wait until morning to leave out. She had just started looking for him when she heard someone call out "Natsu Dragneel you are hereby under arrest for being human and your crimes against yokai." She heard the gasps around the school yard. Picking up her pace she found Natsu with three students in black uniforms surrounding him. She realized that she was holding her breath waiting to see how he would respond.

With a puzzled look he said "Being human is a crime?"
