The Twin's Cage

Chapter 13

Kate and I sped away from the cage I tapped my bracelet and it turned into the shield. Kate got a new arrow and put it in the notch of her bow. We followed the maze of cages, where multiple other monsters where kept, begging me and Kate to free them.

We kept going until we saw some curtains, which hopefully led to the outside. But I knew Kate had other plans.

We busted through the cotton dividers and into the center of the tent. There was Derek, standing on his giant rubber ball. Just standing, not balancing. Surrounding him was Unieye and his companions.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Derek announced loudly. "May I introduce, the twins of prophecy!"

Derek pointed to me and Kate. He laughed loudly.

"Perfect, perfect! Now this time, look more enthusiastic!" He said. He smiled widely.

Kate responded by shooting out is ball.

Derek fell on his behind. He fixed his top hat and looked at us, annoyed.

"Well that wasn't very nice." He said. He looked at the Cyclopes. "Get them."

Unieye approached us quickly and swung his arm down. I pushed Kate out of the way and put up my shield. Unieye's fist slammed onto the shield. The connection made a sound like a bell ringing.

I pushed his arm off and slapped him with the broad side of the shield. He fell back.

Another cyclops approached. Kate stepped in front of me and shot an arrow straight into his shoulder, which detered him. Kate ran up, jumped and her bow got connected to his face. The cyclops fell back again. There were 2 remaining.

We both arroached them. Kate shot an arrow into one of their legs. He doubled over and I stepped onto his back, jumped off and connected my shield with the other's face. He fell back and I landed in front of his head.

I looked back and saw that Kate already took care of the other one. Suddenly, I heard a whoosh and turned quickly, when Derek's cane connected to my shield.

"You may have defeated those worthless monsters, but it'll take more than a shield to defeat me." He said behind teeth.

"Don't count on it." I said.

"I can. I can still see fates." He replied. He suddenly grabbed my arm.

My eyes grew wide as I felt myself hit the floor. I was having a vision.

Images flashed in front of my face.

Kate fell from a building somewhere. The streets were filled with water. There was a whirlpool under her with teeth sorrounding it. She was looking directly at me, since she was falling away from me.

I woke up, still on the ground. I sat up and saw Derek battling Kate. I got up quickly.

Derek pushed Kate back and I kicked him in the shin. He swung wildly and stumbled back.

Suddenly, a cyclops came up and swung at me. I ducked and his fist connected with the center column. It cracked and creaked as the crack grew.

Great, now there's a time limit. I thought.

Kate approached Derek and connected her bow with his face.

"We need to get out of here!" She yelled towards me.

"Unieye!" I said towards them. "C'mon, we can get you out of here!"

"No." He replied. "I've been here all my life, following orders for him." He pointed towards Derek.

"We'll get the other monsters out, and make sure Derek stays here. Go." Another cyclops said.

I hesitated. Then nodded. I ran towards the exit, grabbing Kate's hand. We rushed through the door as we heard the creaking getting louder.

ForgottenGodForgottenGodForgottenGod I heard in my head.

"What?" I said aloud.

Suddenly, a rusty blue truck stopped in front of us. The passenger door opened, and sitting in the driver's door was a man with thinning hair and a scraggly beard, both were a salt-and-pepper color. He wore a red cross shirt and regular jeans. His eyes were sky blue.

"Get in."
