I know many of you are wondering why I am updating so soon and the truth is that this story is pretty much done. There is this chapter and one more and it will be complete. There will be a sequel of course and hopefully I can make Hayley more tolerable so we will see.

Fourteen

Ana woke up looking at the sky and laying on the forest ground. She sat up and looked around to see white fog everywhere and didn't know where she was. She stood up and tried to figure it out knowing that she was dead but not knowing where she was. She just hoped that her son was safe and that Elijah remembered she loves him.

"You are not dead yet," a voice called.

Ana turned to find two men and a woman standing before her. The first man had brown eyes and dark hair, he reminded her of Elijah in a way. The second man had blonde hair and green eyes much like her own and she knew who he was. Considering the way that he was looking at the woman Ana also knew her to be her mother.

"Your daughter is smart," the unknown man said.

"What's going on?" Ana asked needing to know.

"I wish that I or your father could have been there to raise you and make sure you knew all there was to know about being a phoenix. Curare is not the only poison that can hurt a phoenix, there is also one more and it is even more deadly. We call it the Black Widow and there is a sinister force at play because the only people who knew about this second poison were myself, your father, and a dark witch," her mother explained stepping closer until they were an inch apart.

"My mother is the Original witch," the unknown man said, "I'm Kol and my brother Elijah is your mate though I don't know why I mean I'm the more fun one. My mother is a hypocritical bitch but she is very powerful, so much so that she has found a way to come back. I don't know how though and I can't see what she is planning. She is the one that knew of the poison and she has dark plans for my family. You must act Ana."

"How can I act when I'm dead?" Ana yelled out frustrated.

"Death is not always permanent especially for a phoenix my daughter," her mother said taking her face in her soft hands and Ana closed her eyes, "Your mate is still alive and because of that you can still come back but the choice is yours."

"She has already made it Nadine," her father spoke, "I could not be more proud of you my daughter. Now go back to your son and mate and make sure the darkness does not take them."

"Also make sure to help protect Davina. She is family," her mother told her surprising her.

"What do you mean?" Ana asked shocked but it explained why she felt so trusting with her son.

"My little brother fell in love with a witch though I suspect she killed him later one when he refused to take my life. That witch was Davina's mother and the little witch is the product of their relationship," her father explained.

Ana processed that information and after a shared look between her and Kol she said goodbye to her parents. She got one last look at them before the white fog enveloped her and she closed her eyes praying to see her mate and son again. Darkness welcomed her as searing pain enveloped her body and a phoenix was reborn.

~The Poisoned Fruit~

Davina looked down at the baby in her arms and then up at the multiple vampires surrounding her. She had a lot of power but even she could not take on this many vampires. She had to try though because after not being able to save the phoenix she had to try and save the baby boy she had left behind. She held the baby tightly to her chest supporting it's body and then concentrated feeling the power run through her. She was able to get ten vampires down before they came at her and when one grabbed her she kicked fighting back.

"We want the child witch so give her over," the one vampire ordered trying to pry her arms apart.

"Go to hell," Davina said stabbing him with the knife.

The witch turned to take on more only to jump back in shock when Elijah beat her to the punch. She watched as he ripped their hearts out without a thought and Davina could see that the death of his mate had changed him forever. When it seemed like it was finally over he turned his hazel eyes to look at her and she relaxed because he would never put the life of his child in danger.

"I tried to save her but he used a poison and she begged me to get him out," Davina explained.

"I know Davina now please give me my son," the Original vampire told her holding his arms out.

Elijah knew that the witch had done what she could to save his mate but right now he could not find it in him to care because he needed his son. He heard his siblings and the wolves come to join them but the Original vampire only had eyes for one person and that was his son. He felt tears gather in his eyes as realized that he would never know the love of his mother and it broke his heart. Everyone was so taken with the child they did not hear that they had one last enemy until Davina had gasped in shock and they looked up to find Diego and another vampire holding the witch hostage with a knife at her throat.

"Give us the child," Diego ordered, "And don't bother trying Davina I know that after using all that power you are weak."

"Don't," Davina said looking at all of them with a determined look in her eyes.

Before Davina could do anything though someone beat her to the punch. Everybody watched in shock as the two vampires were pulled away and encased in fire. After their hearts were ripped out and the people in the room turned to find a very alive and very angry Ana, her eyes not their usual red but a mixture of red and orange. The question on all their minds though was how did Ana survive? It was a question that Elijah did not care about because all that mattered was that his mate and the mother of his child was alive, anything after that could wait.

Did you guys really think I was going to keep her dead? I mean really? She's the main character and besides I wanted this to happen so she could learn more about Esther and her parents as well as Kol.
