Dangerous Territory

"I just mentioned your name at this party and, like, three girls started to cry."

Everyone knows who Yusuke Urameshi is. Everyone always has known, ever since he was just a little kid. Ever since Yusuke was old enough to walk he'd been known to flip skirts, mouth off to adults, and pick fights with other kids. And being his one and only friend it was a wonder how Keiko wasn't more known. Half of the time she was right there with him. Most of the time it was her skirt being flipped.

And now, even when they are adults, he really hasn't changed. They are well past being teenagers but he still flips her skirt. He doesn't pick fights much anymore but he will still never turn down one. And there is no one who he won't mouth off to, he always talks back to Keiko and more often than not he is pulling Yusuke away from their Daughter.

Sachiko was just like her Father. In every way. She was rash, she was mouthy, she was a trouble maker, and she was part Demon. Having Demon blood didn't scare Keiko nearly as much as how she like Yusuke in every way. Even before she was born Keiko knew she was going to be a wild child. And then when she went to day care she didn't get alone with any of the other children. It only got worse when school started.

And the worst part for her was she couldn't help her daughter. She had no idea what it was like to grow up not being normal, having a Father who was always fighting Demons, to have a Mother who didn't know what she was going through….it all just got too much for her. So when Botan began 'Tequila Friday' it was a God send.

Every Friday for the past 17 years Keiko gets with the girls, who more often than not ends up being just Keiko, Botan, and Shizuru. Atsuko often comes but before the night is over has started partying with a new crowd. Yukina comes a few times, but she isn't much into the bar scene, so her visits are few and far between. But it's okay. Botan and Shizuru are more than enough to make up for it, they are too much at times.

Keiko would say that seven out of ten times they go to the bar, it didn't matter what bar, her and Botan and Shizuru and anyone else with her would get hit on. She can say without any hesitation at all that her and her friends have heard every pick up line ever thought up. Everything from 'I lost my number, can I have yours?' to 'I must be dead because you're like an angel'. Ironically enough Botan was asked that a lot out of them all….

Needless to say it all became very annoying very quick. And as cruel and harsh as Shizuru's insults got they didn't stop. No matter how many times Botan put up her middle finger and started a fight before her and Shizuru got them kicked out of yet another bar. It didn't matter. They all kept coming and so did the lines. And then Keiko discovered something, the ultimate man repellent.

Urameshi.

It was amazing how with just one little word any and every man in sight would back off and leave the girls alone. But of course there were a few tough guys who either didn't know who the hell this Urameshi was, or maybe they didn't care, or maybe they were just plain stupid. Keiko thought that maybe that was the case most of the time.

An upside to it all was that half the time they all got free drinks.

Boundaries

"I'm making dinner in sexy lingerie and heels. There is a 75% chance his roommate is going to come home before him….Yup. There he is. Well, this conversation is going to be awkward."

Some might say that the Kuwabara Family were not normal. There was no doubt about that. Ask any of their neighbors, they will all tell you the same thing. How normal can a Family be with no Mother and a Father who is always working out of town? They will all say that the older of the two children, a girl, is nothing more than a drop out who can't hold down a job. And the youngest, a boy, is a delinquent punk who is picking fights and will soon enough follow in his Sisters footsteps.

They say the Kuwabara Family is not normal. Anyone who knows them knows this. Not just because of their strange abilities to talk to the dead and supernatural senses made them all freaky enough. And then everyone heard about Kazuma hanging out with Yusuke Urameshi, and it only made their family reputation worse. Because Shizuru hadn't caused enough damage.

All the neighbors hated her, adults and children and teens alike. She never fit in at school or with the other kids her age, and the adults all treated her like she was a freak. So she began to talk back and make smart mouthed remarks. She was always questioning authority and smoking and maybe even worst of all-she was having premarital sex. Just that was something that made her the center of bad conversation in their neighborhood.

But that was then when she was a teenager and a young adult. But now at age 32 she's calmed down quite a bit. She works all week and lives with her boyfriend, Kurama, in their apartment. All the neighbors loved them when they first moved in. But old habits die hard. After the first week of loud sex no one on their floor would look them in the eye. After a month the entire building did the same.

Needless to say, Kurama and her had loud sex, often. But since Kazume started staying with the two of them their sex life decreased by some amount. And honestly it was driving Shizuru crazy. She was a sexual person, what could she say? She liked sex, and lucky enough for her so did Kurama. When her Brother first got there they sneaked around and did their best to avoid sex when Kazuma was in the house.

And now it had been two months without sex, Shizuru was climbing up the walls. She hated how Kurama looked so calm about it, how it wasn't affecting him half as bad as it was her. So late in bed one night, just after Kazuma comes home and ruins her plans, she asks Kurama. It's then that she realizes this can't go on.

So here she was, standing in the middle of the kitchen in nothing but a baggy shirt, her hands on her hip and a cigarette in her mouth.

"When are you leaving, Kazuma?"

"When my vacation is over." He tells her looking over the door of the refrigerator.

"When is that?"

"A few more months."

His answer wasn't good enough. She hit her limit. She walked over to him and grabbed him by the shirt collar, telling him he needed to get out. Tomorrow was Friday, when she and Kurama got home from work he better not be here. Or else. He nods his head and she walks off, telling the plan to Kurama.

And the next day Shizuru got off work early, stopped at the super market and went home. The apartment was empty and she was grateful she didn't have to kill her Baby Bro for not listening. Just before she finished cooking she went to her and Kurama's bedroom and slipped on a set of her best bra and panties, along with a good pair of heels. She was just in time, she heard the front door open and close. She put out her cigarette and walked to the door way, striking her best sexy pose for Kurama.

The only thing was that it wasn't Kurama. Instead it was none other than Kazuma. Like nothing she asks what he is doing here? Neither one of them act uncomfortable, considering that she is wearing nothing but sheer see-through underwear and high heels. Without batting an eye he looked at her and explained himself.

"Oh, just relax Sis. I'm not staying. Kurama's car broke down and I went to get him. He's coming up right now, I just forgot my wallet earlier." And with that he turned and walked to the front door. Before he left he turned around and smiled at her. "Oh, and you should hurry and change into the black panties. Kurama likes those better than the pink and white ones." He winks before the door shuts behind him.

The Kuwabara Family might not be the most ideal one but it was a Family. Shizuru and Kazuma might not be normal Brother and Sister. But really, what was normal anyways?

Unsettling Revelations

"God I wish there was a Porn Star that looked like you."

You would think Kuwabara would have learned his lessons about snooping in his Sister's stuff. Considering every time, since he was a toddler, she would always know. He never knew how she always knew he went snooping around in her stuff, but she did.

When he was only four years old, it was just after Halloween, he went up into her room looking for her candy stash. As soon as she got home she went up to her room. A few minutes after she marched to Kuwabara's room and slammed his bedroom door open. She asked where her gum balls were and he had until the count of five. He played dumb and by the time she got to five he got shaken upside down.

When he was nine years old, sitting down doing homework and eating dinner all at once, his pencil breaks. She tells him to go up to her room, in her first desk draw on the right there is a pencil sharpener. He had 30 second to get there and back. When he got to her room and he couldn't remember if she said first on the left, or first on the right-he went to the left. Inside there was no pencil sharpener but a small book labeled 'Privet'. After five minutes of reading her diary he felt her in the doorway. He couldn't sit down for a week.

When he was 13 years old, suspended from fighting at school, he was bored out of his mind. He had no cable t.v. and every video in the house he'd seen, except for Shizuru's own collections. So up in her room he went and in between the movie he found an envelope. Curiosity getting the better of him he opened it and looked in. Inside were pictures of her in her underwear, and a few pictures of her boyfriend in his. Completely stunned he put them all back just how he found them. When she got home later in the day and went up to her room she came right back out. It took him two weeks for the bruises to go away.

And now at 20 years old he still hasn't learned his lesson.

Here Kuwabara sat in his Sister's bedroom with his niece in one arm, a warm bottle of milk in the middle. Shizuru and Kurama were out for a long due and well deserved date night. Kuwabara was the last on Shizuru's list to take care of her child but Kurama's Mother was busy and so was Keiko. She assumed Yukina would have came alone but at least her Brother was more trust worthy with a baby then Yusuke….

Once the baby was asleep in the crib his plan was to go down and watch some t.v. and eat some junk food. But on his way out he catches a glimpse of the videos under the bedroom t.v. He can't help but pull out one that reads 'Family Vacation'. There is no date and he tries to think when there was a Family Vacation last? He gives up and pops it in.

The video tape starts out normal enough with Kurama loading up his car with a few duffle bags, and he hears his Sisters' voice-he guesses Shizuru is filming. It skips to Kurama driving and Shizuru filming herself in the passenger seat. It skips again to mountain scenery and the two commenting on how beautiful it was; and then they reach the hot springs. Kuwabara can't help but feel a little left out and a little mad; those hot springs look sooooo relaxing.

Kuwabara's attention goes back to the home movie when the scene skips again. Except he is horrified at what he sees. The recording camera is sat down on something and is pointing at the bed, where Shizuru is. She's completely naked and the next thing he sees is Kurama-also naked-walking into view.

Kuwabara screams out and jumps off the bed, trying to turn the t.v. off. Instead it crashes down and Kuwabara does his best to get to and sooth the crying baby. He says everything will be okay, stop crying, but he isn't sure if he's talking to himself or the baby. He just wants to claw his eyes out.

Shattered

"When you believe in magic facts don't mean anything."

"It's magic."

That's what Kuwabara told his children on their 5th birthday when they asked how the man pulled at rabbit out of his hat. When they pulled at his shirt and asked how he was able to turn a napkin into a dove he smiled and told them it was magic. That night Yukina came up to him and asked if it was a good idea to lie to their children like that, telling them things like magic exists in the world. When he says he doesn't understand she almost begins to cry and tells him magic is not real.

"It's all a trick."

That's what Yusuke told his son on the way home from the Kuwabara Twins' birthday party. Keiko told him not to spoil their son's childhood. Yusuke only laughed and went on and on about how each trick was done. When he would say it was a mirror, or a hidden compartment, or even that all the cards were the same-Keiko would shake her head and tell her son it was magic, magic, magic! The whole care ride home was a back and forth argument of 'No, it is to real!' and 'Yes, it's nothing but phony tricks!'. By the time they reach home Keiko and Yusuke can't help but wonder how their son was able to fall asleep with all that yelling.

"Of course I believe in magic."

That's what Kurama told his daughter on the walk home. Walking side by side and holding hands with his little girl he listened to all she had to say. He listens to her go on and on about how she thinks the man in the suit could have done all those magic tricks. When she tells her Father that he can do the flower trick much better he laughs and thanks her. And then she stops and looks up at him and she looks so serious and asks if magic is real because if her Daddy believes in magic then it must be real. So Kurama smiles and tells her yes, of course he believes in magic.

"Don't you believe in magic?"

That's what Botan asked Hiei while the magic show was going on. As soon as the show began she could tell he wasn't enjoying it and was only standing around to make his Sister happy. After hearing him scoff and watching him roll his eyes for the countless time she turns to pout at him. She tells him to behave himself and stop acting like a party pooper. He just looks up at her and rolls his eyes again and smirks. She puckers her lips and says he must have believed in magic at some point. He tells her no, he never has.

"When did you stop believing in magic?"

They all believed in magic at one point. Kuwabara believed in magic until his Mother died. Yukina always wanted to believe that there was something magical in the world, and then Kuwabara rescued her. Kurama never thought magic was something real until he became a Human. Keiko believed in magic until Yusuke showed her all the secrets the Magician had. Hiei has never believed in magic and he never will and Botan, well….she never stopped believing.

Bitter Silence

"Words can't express what I have to say."

If there was one thing that drove Botan nuts it was how Hiei could go so long without saying a word. She thinks he could go days, weeks, months, and even years without speaking. She found this so incredibly irritating because she could hardly go five minutes without speaking. What really bothers her about it is she never is quite sure what's going on in his head. How is she supposed to know, anyways if he doesn't use his words to communicate? She isn't a mind reader after all.

But she thinks it's just one of those opposites attract things.

But it's not completely fair to say he doesn't talk often. Because he does, believe it or not, talk more than others think. When he has questions or if the answers need to be explained more he will ask in every way he can think of. And when it's the other way around, when she asks him about something he has no problem going into every little detail. Every. Little. Detail….

But what bothers Botan the most is that he doesn't talk about the little and normal everyday things. Like how he was feeling that day or what he thought about this or that. Getting him to talk about things like that was harder than trying to walk on a rainbow. But at the same time she is a bit thankful for this. She tries to think of it as a blessing in disguise type thing.

Especially at night, when she is all alone at night, when he's been gone. When he leaves and tells her he will be back in a few days and the days turn to weeks and then the weeks turn to months and soon it's been more than eight months since he's left and she hasn't heard a word from him. When Hiei has been way for almost a year and then shows up at her door step beaten and bloody and covered in dirt and smells like blood and death. When she runs him a hot bath and goes on about how she's been worried and missed him and he hasn't let her know what's going on at all.

He's just silent as she goes on and on talking. He still doesn't say anything when she quiets down and waits for him to talk. Instead he just strips down and sits in the water, and when he just stares at her and she isn't budging and starts talking again he slowly slips under the water. This is when Botan leaves, her checks full of air and her fists in balls at her sides as she walks out of the steamy room; his dirty clothes in her hands.

When he finally does talk it's after he's out of the bath and dried off and in clean clothes that she's kept around her house. It's after he's eaten the meal she's made and after his sword is cleaned and looks brand new. It's after he is so tired and is up in her bed with his eyes closed, ready to pass out and sleep for days-maybe even a week. When she crawls in bed and lays next to him and stares at him, trying to count how many new cuts and scares he has now.

When she tells him she's missed him and was worried about him he makes a small grunt. When she tells him she hates how he is gone for long periods of time he sighs and tells her sorry. When she tells him she loves him he tells her he loves her, too. And then after a few minutes of silence she asks him if she is replaceable. He opens his eyes and turns to her and stares at her with his dark cold eyes. When she asks for the truth he blinks and tells her yes, of course she is.

"Easily." He tells her and closes his eyes and gets comfortable again. He moves his arm and grabs ahold of her hand and holds on tight. "But I would never want to."
