Alright time for my next chapter, sorry for the delay, my moving day is fast approaching and I've been insanely busy at work. My little puzzle/contest, is still open, and I will be giving another hint very soon. To those of you that are worried, no this wont be a neglect fic, it will be dark, and it will be gory as I advance, but it wont be the same prophecy leads to neglect and or abandonment, thing that a lot of stories do. Also someone pointed out that the size of my world is huge, and all I have to say to that is 'yeah, I know right?' some fics have the world so small that it barely seems logical. I mean in some fics the Leaf, The Mightiest village on the planet! Only has like four thousand ninja. Now I know in cannon that might seem realistic, but it just seems like total BS to me. These nations are supposed to be the military powerhouses that serve as a countries military might, and they are telling me that the strongest military in the world only has a few thousand guys and gals? BULL! So yes I made it bigger. A lot of people I guess like to base it off of Japan seeing as how those numbers would be realistic if this was feudal Japan, but the thing is it's not. It's a whole new world and it's a hell of a lot bigger then just the five great nations. Anyway before I begin I will give you all a brief bit of info about my world, I will give you some before each chapter.

Military might: Lightning, Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind:

Lightning:

35,000 Imperial shinobi (Official Lightning Capital Shinobi, not trained in a hidden village)

400,000 Samurai (Guys like you're traditional Samurai these guys are on par with Chuunin)

2.5 million Soldiers (Simple soldiers, like swordsman, Spearman, archers, cavalry, engineers, support staff, medics, etc.)

235,000 Cloud shinobi.

Fire:

45,000 Imperial shinobi

415,000 Samurai

2.7 million Soldiers

278,000 Leaf Shinobi

Earth:

38,000 Imperial Shinobi

450,000 Samurai

3.5 million Soldiers

375,000 Rock Shinobi

Water:

25,000 Imperial Shinobi

225,000 Samurai

1.1 million Soldiers

122,000 Mist shinobi (Loyalists) 101,000 Rebel Shinobi

Wind:

31,000 Imperial Shinobi

295,000 Samurai

1.6 Million Soldiers

211,000 Sand Shinobi

Now before anyone calls me on Iwa having more shinobi then Konoha this is my logic behind it, I see the Leaf like the U.S. military, it's got some skilled warriors, but where it really shines is in its technology, (Bloodlines) while Iwa is like China, they may not have the best soldiers or gear, but they have more then enough men to handle a threat, while Kumo is more like Russia, they may not have numbers or flashy tech, but their warriors are some of the finest. Don't believe me, look at Spetsnaz training.

Anyway there is my tidbit of exposition about the military's of my world, hope you like and if you would like me too, i will add more exposition articles or interesting tidbits about my stories setting to the beginning of other chapters... hopefully they won't nearly be as long.

Naruto: The Runaway Chronicles

Chapter 13

"Wow! This place is huge!" Nayumi said as she glanced around the room. Her and Naruto had just entered into the house after picking the lock, which was rather simple. They now stood in the living room of the estate, the room was open and spacious with a few niceties like a couch, a love seat, a reclining chair, a TV, etc, in it.

Naruto glanced around the room, he was scanning every last detail, the first thing he noticed was that the house was spotless. There wasn't an ouch of dust anywhere to be seen. Naruto guessed that this had something to do with the seal that was placed around the house, seeing as how the yard wasn't overgrown, and the garden wasn't dead either.

"Is that them?" Nayumi asked as he eyes came to rest on a picture, that hung from the wall near them.

Naruto glanced over and spotted it, he felt his heart quiver a bit, as he walked over and examined the picture. It was of Kushina and Minato, the two were cuddling close to one another with big smiles on their faces.

"Yeah... I guess it is." Naruto responded after a few moments of quite observation.

"You look just like your dad, Naruto." Nayumi pointed out.

"Yeah... I really do don't I?" Naruto responded, as he noticed all of the similarities. Same hair, same eyes, same tan skin, they could almost be twin rather then father and son.

After a moment more Nayumi wandered off to explore some more she spotted another picture on the wall and went to examine it, what she saw caused he to gasp.

Hearing his wife's startled gasp Naruto spun around and glanced at her, he saw he staring at a picture on the wall, after a moment he moved to investigate.

"What's up?" Naruto asked as he got closer.

"Naruto... I think... I mean..." Nayumi tried to voice what she wanted to say, but couldn't find the words for it, instead she just pulled the picture off the wall, and handed it too him.

Naruto gave Nayumi a look of confusion before looking down at the picture. Upon analyzing it's contents, Naruto's eyes widened to the size of saucers. 'What is this?' Naruto thought, as he could almost feel the Fox, asking the same question.

The picture was of Kushina and Minato, though standing around them were a few other children. The oldest, a boy, looked to be around thirteen and was a spitting image of Minato, except he had dirty blonde hair. The next a girl, looked to be around eleven, and had long blonde hair like Kushina, and the last was of a boy, around six, who had medium length red hair.

"Naruto... did the fox ever say anything about you having siblings?" Nayumi asked as she recovered from her surprise.

"No... he never said a word about this." Naruto replied with a faraway look on his face.

'Why didn't he tell me? Maybe he didn't know. Maybe he wanted to protect me. Why though? What would he need to protect me from? Maybe he wanted to hide the fact that he killed them during his rampage? Maybe he didn't want me to know more how he accidentally screwed up my life. Maybe... maybe... ' Naruto thought rampantly. He wanted to talk to the fox, and get some answers, but there was something inside of him, something almost instinctual telling him that if he didn't hurry, then he would lose his chance at ever finding answers about the fourth.

"What is the Fox saying?" Nayumi inquired.

"Nothing... there is a seal on the compound that seems to be cutting our connection. I don't know if he can see or hear anything right now." Naruto replied, still very much deep in thought.

"Well... then let's not waste anymore time. All we've found so far are more questions, let's go looking for the Fourth's office, maybe we can find some answers there." Nayumi suggested.

"Yeah, maybe." Naruto replied as he placed the picture back on the wall.

From there the two went up the stairs and began their search. They decided to go from top to bottom, in the hopes of clearing through the whole place without missing anything.

There wasn't much on the second floor, mostly bedrooms, and bathrooms. They did find that four were in use and one was set up for a new born. When they got to what would have been Naruto's room, he couldn't help but just gawk at everything that was in the room. His baby room had more stuff in it then his old apartment in Konoha. It made Naruto slightly sad to think that this would have been the room he grew up in, if not for the incident many years prior.

Naruto and Nayumi did a quick search of the other occupied rooms. They were freshly lived in, you could tell that someone had lived there recently and it only furthered Naruto's belief that he had, had siblings before his parents died.

The rooms of what would have been his sibling's, each had a name on the door. There was Kaza, Mita, and Harune. The only one that they could actually figure out was Mita's room, as it was girly, and obviously had a girl living out of it, which meant it belonged to the girl in the photo.

After searching the upper floor and finding nothing, Naruto and Nayumi went back down stairs to continue their search. There was the living room, the kitchen, Dining room, several bathrooms, and finally, the Fourth's study.

Naruto did a quick examination of the door to make sure there was no seals placed on it, surprisingly he found none. Naruto and Nayumi shared a glance as Naruto reached out and opened the door.

The door creaked loudly as it swung open into darkness.

"Well... nothing ventured right?" Nayumi stated as her and Naruto shared another glance as they looked into the dark room.

It took Naruto and Nayumi a moment to gather their wits before crossing the threshold.

To both of their surprise, as they stepped over the threshold, they were both teleported to another location. The room itself was a gateway, to another location and now the two were stuck in it.

The two glanced around, they were suddenly standing in an open field.

"WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!" Nayumi yelled as she looked around. The two were standing at an open wooden door frame, that stood in the center of a wide open field of golden flowing grain. The field itself was beautiful.

"Amazing... it must have had some sort of space time ninjutsu placed on the room itself. It acts as a bridge that connects one point to another... my father must have been something else entirely if he could create something like this and sustain it even after death." Naruto thought aloud as he looked at the free standing wooden door frame.

"Wow... that was actually one of the smartest things I've ever heard you say." Nayumi stated giving him a look.

"What? Just cuz I like to act goofy, and laid back sometimes doesn't mean I don't know things." Naruto replied with a scratch of his head.

"Can we get back through there?" Nayumi asked. Naruto shrugged and stepped through the door frame, to Nayumi's surprise he vanished. A moment passed before he returned.

"Looks like it." Naruto replied.

"Well, that's cool and everything but where are we?" Nayumi asked as she looked around.

"No clue." Naruto replied as he spun around and gazed across the field. Other then the door frame there was little else in the field, except for a single shed that sat next to a large pond, about thirty yards off.

"Well... you're dad's office definitely trumps, my dad's office." Nayumi stated as she too spotted the shed.

"Let's go see what that is." Naruto suggested. Nayumi quickly nodded and the two began walking towards the shed.

They made in about five yards when suddenly Naruto heard the Fox shout, "WATCH OUT!"

Naruto tensed as suddenly eight masses of water shot out of the pond, straight up into the air. A moment passed as he and Nayumi drew there weapons, then suddenly the eight balls unfurled into large armored toads and landed around them in a diamond formation.

Naruto recognized there armor, as the identifying armor of battle toads from Mount Myuboku

Nayumi quickly raised two kunai and prepared to fight, and was about to lunge when Naruto spoke up.

"Stop please. We don't mean to trespass. I am Naruto Namikaze. Son of the fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze." Naruto told the toads with his arms raised to show that he meant no harm.

The toads all stared at him for a moment before sharing glances. After sharing their glances the toad directly in front of Naruto cocked it's head and stared at him intently.

Naruto decided to prove whom he was and flared his chakra. As the toads felt Naruto's chakra wash over them, they all had the same reaction. Their eyes widened and they all dropped into a bowing position.

After a pregnant pause, all eight toads jumped into the air and returned to their pond.

"What the hell was that about?" Nayumi asked.

"They must have been left here, as guardians." Naruto replied, with a curious look as he watched the toads retreat.

"Yes... they must have scanned your chakra, and saw that you were related to the fourth." The fox stated with a curious look.

'Hey! So I guess you are back. When I have a free moment, we need to talk." Naruto said with a bit of aggression in his voice.

"Kit... I know nothing about you having siblings. There isn't anyway, that Kushina could have given birth without me knowing it." The Fox informed him.

"So, what then? Those kids look just like my mom and dad. So they can't be adopted. What else is there?" Naruto asked with an intense look on his face.

"I don't know... if it wasn't for that fact the I cut them both in half with my claw, I might speculate that they were alive. But not only is that impossible but it's extra impossible, at least in your father's case." The Fox replied.

"Why do you say that?" Naruto asked.

"Well, remember kid, not only did my claw bisecting him ensure his death, but he made sure that he was extra dead when he summoned the Shinigami to eat his soul. So yeah... while it's a slight, minute, highly unlikely, nearly impossible, chance that your mother might have survived, your father wouldn't have." The Nine Tails replied with a stoic, thoughtful look on it's face.

"So... that just leaves more questions." Naruto thought with a huff.

"Hey, maybe we should go check out that shed over there, it might have another teleportation seal in it." Nayumi suggested.

Naruto nodded in agreement and the two marched towards the shed.

The two walked towards the shed, both keeping there eyes on the pond where the toads had emerged from. They were wary of them returning to attack them.

After reaching the shed Naruto checked the door for any seals or anything, and again he found nothing. The two shared a wary look before opening the door. Inside was nothing but blackness, which was similar to Minato's office. After a moment Naruto stepped through, followed by Nayumi, they were instantly teleported to a large dark room.

The two shared another glance in the darkness when suddenly lights sprung on revealing a large open laboratory.

"What the fuck?" Nayumi said aloud.

"Ditto." Naruto replied as he looked around the room.

It was a large room with tons of things you would ordinarily find in a lab. There were lab tables, a few computers, and a lot of other equipment you would generally find in a laboratory.

"Was your dad some kind of scientist?" Nayumi asked as she gazed around the room.

"I have no freaking clue." Naruto replied as he walked around the room and gazed at the equipment.

Like the house, all of the equipment was perfectly clean, like it had been used yesterday. Naruto and Nayumi were so confused by all the crap that they had found. They still hadn't found any answers, and in fact had gathered more questions.

The two wandered around the room for a few moments until finally Naruto stopped at one of the computers, he sat down and shook the mouse, immediately bringing up a screen that asked for a password.

"Shit! Well, what do we do now?" Nayumi muttered as she saw the password screen.

"I don't know, this is some bullshit. Maybe we should look around and try to see if he wrote it down somewhere." Naruto suggested as he stared intently at the password screen.

"Do you really think a secretive man like the fourth Hokage would just write his computer password down, and leave it around?" Nayumi asked.

"Fuck! Well then I don't know! Maybe we can try reading some of the documents he's got or..." Naruto started to reply, when suddenly he was interrupted by the fox

"Hey Kid!" The Fox shouted to him.

"What?" Naruto asked aloud, drawing Nayumi's attention.

"Try Password, with two fives, and a zero." The Fox ordered.

Naruto immediately deadpanned when he heard that. He typed in Pa55w0rd into the password slot. "Like this?" Naruto asked with the disbelieving look still present on his face.

"Yep." The Fox replied with a smile.

Naruto clicked enter, and to his and Nayumi's shock, it accepted the password.

The Fox instantly burst into uproarious laughter.

"How in the fuck did you know that!?" Nayumi yelled at him.

"How in the Fuck did you know that!?" Naruto yelled at the fox.

"You're father liked to pride himself, on being much more clever then he really was. The Fourth Hokage was a genius but when it came to coming up with codes, and jutsu name... well... he kinda fell short." The Fox replied, to which Naruto slammed his head into the desk at the stupidity of the whole situation.

"This is such bullshit." Naruto muttered.

"You should have seen your mothers reaction when she guessed his password. I guess he never changed it. He must have thought he was such a fucking genius! Ha! Pa55w0rd no one would EVER think of something so complex, and intricate... YEAH RIGHT!" The Fox continued to laugh.

"Fuck my life." Naruto muttered, embarrassed for his father.

"Man... our dads are so alike, it's scary... my dad does the same thing with his passwords at home." Nayumi said with a deadpanned look.

"Alright... let's just get some fucking answers." Naruto said with a sour look as he proceeded to examine the contents of his father desktop.

He found a few folders and read through their content, is seemed like his father had an immense interest in studying the nature of chakra and Bloodlines. The found a few video folders of the fourth performing dissections, and studying dead shinobi, whom seemed to have been killed prior to filming.

The didn't really shock Nayumi or Naruto seeing as how it was the fate of all shinobi if there bodies fell into enemy hands.

The fourth was meticulous. He was a very keen scientist who recorded all of his data and thoughts. He would create multiple shadow clones to observe a situation and record there thoughts in the hopes of gaining new insight into what was learned.

Nayumi and Naruto probably spent the better part of an hour watching videos of the fourth performing his experiments. They never came across anything that was overly grotesque or that skirted the boundaries of morality. All of the tests the fourth performed seemed like legitimate experiments for the fulfillment of the leaf's quest for understanding of chakra, jutsu, and bloodlines.

Eventually they decided to just jump to the last project that the fourth was working on before his death. The title of the project was APEX.

The file folder had a few dozen video files in it, so Naruto just clicked on the first and started to watch.

VIDEO:

"Alright, Date, June 1st, 2000. This will be the first entry in a new project I am working on called APEX." The fourth Hokage stated as he stepped in front of the camera.

"So... where to begin? … … … Well, I might as well start out with the purpose of this project. You see for a long time, I've had this idea in my head, that... well... you see, in nature... humans are the evolutionary apex creatures. We are smart enough to hunt anything else on the planet, no matter how big or small. Now with that being said... shinobi are technically a step above your average civilian... so if you think about it, only humans who ascend to the level of a shinobi, can consider themselves Apex creatures. If this thought process is correct... then that would mean that bloodlines are actually Natures way of attempting to enforce an apex creature into the shinobi hierarchy. A shinobi with the Sharingan is technically better adapted and more evolved then someone without. The same goes for the Byakugan or the Akimichi's body expansion, or the Nara's shadow manipulation, the point is, is that there has never been a confirmed source of bloodlines. They have only ever just sprung up, in one form or another, which means they must be a mutation that occurs inside of shinobi, which causes them to evolve. The point of this project, I guess, it to try and identify, whether an Apex bloodline, exists, or if it is possible for one to be created in the future." The fourth explained, with a thoughtful look on his face.

"Hmph... well anyway this is just the start. I hope to begin tests real soon, and start seeing what I can did up." The Fourth finished his explanation.

END VIDEO:

"Well... that is some interesting shit." Nayumi stated with curious look.

"I wonder if he made any headway?" Naruto wondered his own curious nature getting the best of him.

"Well, you go ahead and keep watching I'm going to look for the Fourth's Jutsu library." Nayumi told him as she sat at another computer and logged in. She cringed when she put in the password.

Naruto shook his head and continued watching.

He spent the next few hours watching some more videos, of the fourth's work, he jumped to different project folders trying to find anything that jumped out at him, but so far nothing world shattering. The Fourth was meticulous, he documented everything. That meant that there was a lot of info to go through.

Nayumi managed to find the Jutsu library. The fourth had digitized it, and encoded it. Which meant they would need to get someone to decode it.

Eventually the two just settled on taking all of the hard drives and sealing all of the file cabinets in the room. After sealing all of the valuables in the lab, the two headed back through the transportation seal. This took them back to the open field. From there they went through the second seal, to return to the fourths estate.

From there the two searched the house again, they eventually found the Fourth's armory, which housed a few dozen swords, spears, bows, and the like, along with thousand of shuriken, Kunai, Senbon, and of course the Fourth's signature kunai.

They sealed it all up, and were about to do one last sweep of the house when suddenly, they were hit with a rush of knowledge.

The two stood in silence for a few moments, before Nayumi hesitantly glanced over at Naruto.

Naruto's held a look of shock, but it quickly turned to anger.

"Naruto?" Nayumi asked quietly as she took a step towards him.

"We're leaving!" Naruto growled as he spun around and headed for the exit.

Nayumi stared after him for a moment before biting her lip and following after.

With this new info, Naruto knew where he stood with the Leaf... and now... so did Nayumi.

-5 Hours Earlier-

Naruto's and Nayumi's clone walked towards the Hokage tower. No one present felt the need to hurry.

They walked, making idle chit chat, occasionally a civilian or two would give Naruto a curious look, almost like they were trying to remember where they'd seen him before, and at least once, a man's face twisted in anger as he recognized him, but before he could say a single word, and ANBU had appeared behind him and made off with him to parts unknown.

Tsunade casually probed for information, trying her hardest not to fire her KI at anyone who wandered to close, she just wanted to get to know Naruto a bit better try and figure out how he ticked.

The first thing that she noted was that he had matured immensely. It seemed like he had a much more refined attitude about dealing with nobles. The whole time Tsunade had to keep reminding herself that she was talking to Naruto, and not some noblemen from a far off land.

The second thing was that he seemed rather protective of Nayumi, the way he positioned himself, as they walked, he would always stare back at anyone who's eyes lingered on her for too long. Naruto's eyes were much colder and more calculative then they used to be. He had obviously matured a great deal.

As much as Tsunade didn't want to believe it, she couldn't find anything that was suggesting that Naruto was being controlled in any way. He didn't react roboticly, his chakra wasn't fluctuating, and he seemed genuinely afraid and on edge, with being back in the village. His reactions were the kind of thing you only saw in someone who had lived through some sort of tragedy, or hardship... but this was the Leaf... surely nothing that bad could have happened to him, or so she hoped.

As they were walking a tan skinned man exited a building in front of them, he was caring some groceries, and looked to be rather board.

Tsunade couldn't help but smile at the luck, as the man was none other then Iruka Umino. This was one of the few people she wanted Naruto to meet while he was in town. If there was anyone who could convince him to come home, it was Iruka.

Iruka glanced at them for a moment before turning to leave. It took him a moment to register the sight of Naruto. As he was struck with realization, he dropped his groceries and spun around. "Naruto! Is that you?"

"Long time no see, Iruka Sensei." Naruto replied with a big happy smile.

"Ha... my god... look at you. It's been so long. I hardly recognized you." Iruka stated in disbelief.

"Yeah well... I guess I kind of grew into my body. I must look a whole lot different in comparison to the last time you saw me." Naruto replied with a warm grin.

"You sure do. I can't believe, that of all the ways we could meet up again, I just run into you on the street." Iruka stated, still not quite believing his eyes.

"Yeah, well. Believe it! Iruka sensei!" Naruto said to him with a foxy grin.

Iruka and Tsunade couldn't help but smile as that familiar fox grin spread across Naruto's face.

"Um... well... how have you been Naruto? I haven't seen you in ages. Kakashi told me you were living in the Land of Lightning now?" Iruka asked.

"Yep... in a town called Aski. I recently got hitched, check it out." Naruto said as he pointed at Nayumi.

"Yeah... I heard you were married... um congrats." Iruka said with a small smile.

"Thanks! I'm a pretty lucky guy." Naruto stated with a chuckle.

"You sure are. Who would of thought a guy like you ending up with a beautiful young lady like this... and even more so, a feudal lord... um lady." Iruka replied with a scratch of his head.

"Yeah... I know. She can be a little cranky at times, but otherwise she's really cool." Naruto informed him.

"Thanks." Nayumi muttered sarcastically.

"Oh sorry Yumi. Iruka, this is my wife Nayumi Hiyoto. Nayumi, this is my old academy teacher Iruka Umino." Naruto introduced the two.

"It's very nice to meet you Nayumi, I hope this goofball is treating you well." Iruka told her kindly.

"Eh... he has his moments." Nayumi said with a shrug.

"Oh... well then... remind me to get Konoha's Ice queen down here, to whip him into shape before you guys leave." Iruka said with a sly grin.

"That sounds like a great idea." Nayumi said with her own grin.

"Hey... you two just met, and you're already best friends? What's up with that?" Naruto asked, with a bit of annoyance.

Tsunade watched the exchange with interest. She really loved watching Naruto come out of his shell, and return to his old self. After a few more moments of talking, Tsunade decided to put her favorite young blonde, on the spot.

"So... hows your sex life?" Tsunade asked, with a perked eyebrow.

"What?" Nayumi asked.

"What!?" Naruto yipped.

"Tehe." Iruka giggled.

"I'm just curious. As a shinobi, and as a medical ninja, I have many questions about the mating habits of a Jinchuriki. Does being a demon host, enhance your feelings in bed? Does the demon attempt to assert some kind of control, to get in on the action? All valid questions... so whats it like?" Tsunade clarified. She couldn't wipe the shit eating grin off her face as she knew she had put the two on the spot.

Nayumi's was blushing lightly and staring off into space, while Naruto was doing something with his hands that looked vaguely familiar to the acts of a certain Hyuuga girl.

"Um... well... you see..." Naruto muttered, his face slowly growing redder as flashback of his one peeping session came flooding back to the forefront of his memories, courtesy of the fox.

"He's really shy in bed." Nayumi stated after a moment.

"Is he now?" Tsunade questioned, as Naruto's jaw hit the floor, and Iruka started to snicker louder.

"Yeah... I don't know if the fox is involved or anything, but all Naruto's want's to do is cuddle. Also... he like to make little growling noises when we snuggle" Nayumi said, adding in a dreamy stare, just to emphasize her point.

Truth or not, Tsunade couldn't help but enjoy the look of depravity on Naruto's face.

Poor Naruto was trapped. He couldn't speak up to defend himself, because if he did, then he would have to make up his own sex stories. And he wasn't sure he could come up with anything that sounded realistic... or even possible.

"God... have I ever said how much I love that fact that you're mate is quick on the draw?" The Fox giggled at it's host's misfortune.

"Uh... screw you." Naruto replied as he just continued walking towards the Hokage tower.

"Would you care to join us Iruka? We were just heading to my office to have a little chat." Tsunade offered as they followed after Naruto.

"Sure... just let me drop off my groceries and I'll join you." Iruka replied as he quickly gathered his sacks, and shushined away.

Naruto continued to walk, head hung in shame as Tsunade continued to chat with Nayumi about her and Naruto's love life.

As they walked Naruto passed by an alley, he had to stop and roll his eyes, as Nayumi made another comment about how he like to sing gentle tunes to her or some shit like that.

Naruto shook his head, to clear out all the noise, when he spotted something out of the corner of his eye. He looked down the alley and spotted a small object sitting at the end of the alley. He walked towards it, drawing Nayumi and Tsunade's attention.

"Naruto? What's up?" Nayumi asked as the two followed after him.

"Something." Was Naruto's reply as he got closer to the object. Nayumi stared intently at him, thought her eyes quickly caught sight a very familiar mark on the wall to Naruto's right.

The mark was the Uchiha symbol, and it was probably the most out of place thing around, since they were on the exact opposite side of town, from where the Uchiha lived.

"My lady... what is the Uchiha symbol doing here?" Nayumi asked.

Tsunade glanced over at the mark and made a face.

"That mark is to show that the Uchiha own this land... or at least... this alley?" Tsunade replied with a look of confusion.

They both approached Naruto, who had knelt down at the end of the alley. The two stood over him and saw what he was looking at. It was a small wooden Buddha, with a little inscription carved into it.

The inscription read, 'To my best friend. To the kindest soul. I carry you with me. For now, and forever. My friend, my sister, my Ami'

"What is this?" Nayumi asked.

"I don't know." Tsunade replied.

'Ami.' Naruto thought. He repeated the name, once more... then again, and again.

For some reason that name resonated with him... it meant something. And for whatever reason... he felt almost sick to his stomach.

"My Lady Tsunade." The three were interrupted by the voice of an ANBU whom appeared out of nowhere.

"What?" Tsunade asked.

"The council is convening." The ANBU told her.

"What? Why?" Tsunade asked, in confusion.

"I don't know they just asked that I retrieve you and you're... 'guests'" The ANBU replied.

"Oh... those sons of bitches." Tsunade muttered under her breath as she turned and walked out of the alley.

Nayumi stood next to Naruto... she could almost feel how uneasy he was.

"Naruto?" She tried to speak to him.

Naruto didn't answer, he just stood and took a deep breath, almost like he was trying to calm himself, after a moment he spoke.

"Yumi?" He asked.

"Yeah?" She replied.

He turned to look at her and she could see a few tears sliding down his cheeks, "Why am I crying?"
