Hello! It certainly has been a while since I've updated this story *cough*4andahalfyears*cough* and after all this time, I decided that I wanted to update it again! I was a freshman in high school the last time I updated this, and now I'm almost done with my freshman year of college. Geez how time flies. I don't know why I suddenly had the urge to write this, but I did, so I hope someone has a good time reading it. If people want me to continue writing this story, I definitely will, but I'm not going to make any promises in terms of an update schedule or anything.

I also don't really remember a lot of the characterizations I had with most of the characters, so if it's changed a lot between the last chapter and this one, I'm chalking it up to that, and the fact that I'm (hopefully) a better writer now!

And blue-hart, if you're reading this, after all this time, I finally kept my promise. I'm sorry it took so long lol, but it's here!

Enjoy!

Naruto and Red stepped out of the cave and onto Route 4.

"Geez, it felt like we were in there for like 5 years," Naruto said, stretching his arms up over his head.

"Yeah, we were definitely there for a while, but now we're almost to Cerulean City - and the next gym."

"I'm so ready to get my next gym badge!" Naruto said, punching the air. "What kind of gym is it anyway?"

"The gym leader is named Misty. From what I hear, she's supposed to be really cool. She uses all water types."

"Water...water," Naruto said quietly to himself,"Like Kunai."

Red nodded,"Yes, like Kunai."

"So Kunai is weak against grass types, so does that mean I should get a grass type in order to battle Misty?"

Red shrugged,"It's up to you, but it would definitely help. An electric type would work too. Kurama probably isn't gonna be much use in there against all the water types."

"Okay, so what are the electric and grass types around here?" Naruto asked.

"Umm… There really aren't supposed to be any that live around here…"

"Hmm... ,"Naruto said,"I guess we'll just have to find one!"

"I don't really think that's how that wor-" Red was cut off by a loud cry,"BULBA!"

They both looked over to the tall grass where the noise had come from. A few seconds passed before a Bulbasaur came sprinting toward them.

Red looked at it in shock,"Of course that would happen…"

"What?" Naruto asked,"What is it?"

By this point, the Bulbasaur was standing next to Naruto, staring curiously at Kunai who was shielding itself behind Naruto's leg.

"That would be a Bulbasaur. It's a grass type."

"Wow. I got really lucky, didn't I."

"Maybe. It probably belongs to someone though. Bulbasaurs don't usually live around here."

Naruto looked down at the Bulbasaur, then carefully picked it up, making sure not to disturb Kurama who was currently asleep inside his jacket.

"Bulbasaur, do you belong to anyone?"

The Bulbasaur just stared back at him, not really giving any indication that it knew what he was asking.

"Let's just hold onto it for a while and if we find an owner, we can give it back. We don't want it wandering out here all alone."

Red hesitated for a second,"All right, but just until we find its' owner."

Naruto gave out a cheer before running down the hill,"Let's go then!" As he ran, Kurama gave an annoyed huff as it was jostled around in its' sleep. Kunai stayed at the top of the hill with Red.

"Didn't wanna run, huh?" Red said,"We can walk, it's okay. Maybe he'll tire himself out by the time we get there."

They set off down the hill toward Cerulean City.

It only took them about 30 minutes to reach the city. When they got there, their first stop was the Pokemon Center. Red made Naruto go up to Nurse Joy and ask her if she knew of a missing Bulbasaur. She said that she didn't, so it only strengthened Naruto's idea that it really was a wild one. They got a room for the night so that they could rest up for a bit before going after the gym.

Currently, all of their Pokemon were sitting together on a blanket on the floor, eating. Bulbasaur looked happy to be among all the other Pokemon and was happily sharing a bowl with Kunai.

Naruto was laying on his back on the bed that he had claimed,"Hmm… I wonder what I should name Bulbasaur."

"You still don't know if it already has a trainer or not," Red said, also laying on her bed.

"Yeah, but it doesn't hurt to have something to call it besides "Bulbasaur," Naruto said.

Suddenly, he sat up in bed,"I know! I'll name it Konoha!"

"Like your village?" Red asked,"Why?"

"It means "leaf" and Bulbasaur is a grass type. It makes sense."

"All right, but if its trainer comes, you had better give it back, so don't get too attached."

"Okay!" Naruto said, kneeling down on the floor in front of the Pokemon and talking quickly and excitedly to them.

Red really doubted that there was a trainer. If there was then they probably would have met them by now. She knew that, but she was still saying that there could be one. She figured that she was just a little bit salty that the Bulbasaur - Konoha, had just appeared to him the moment he needed it. She sighed and rolled over on the bed, picking up the book that she had just pulled out of her bag and starting to read it.

It was starting to get pretty late, so after a little while, the two of them went out, got dinner, and went to sleep, letting themselves get plenty of sleep for the gym battle they knew was going to take place tomorrow.

(...)

The next morning, after they had gotten ready for the day, went out to go find the Pokemon gym.

"So what are you gonna do about this gym?" Naruto asked Red,"You don't have a Pokemon that would be strong against the water types."

"I dunno," Red said,"I won't have to battle her for a couple days since she's battling you first. I'm sure I can figure something out in that time."

The two of them were walking down the road, following the signs that would take them to the gym. It was kind of a far walk, but the day was nice so neither of them minded too much. As they passed an alleyway, Naruto stopped.

"What is it?" Red asked.

"There's someone at the end of this alley," Naruto said,"I think they might need help."

Red looked down the alley. At first, she didn't see anything, but then she heard speaking,"-ive me your Pokemon, punk."

No one responded and for a minute there was silence.

"Not gonna say anything then?" The same voice said,"I guess I'll just take it then."

With that, Naruto raced into the alley. He got in between the two people, facing the man who was talking. He didn't really get a good look at the person he was defending. He did look vaguely familiar though.

"I'm not gonna let you steal someone's Pokemon!" Naruto said.

The man scoffed,"Move along kiddo, you don't want to get caught up in this."

Naruto didn't move, just narrowed his eyes at the man.

Suddenly, the man fell over. Naruto stared in shock, not understanding what was happening. He looked closer at the man, who was now cursing and struggling on the ground, and noticed green vines wrapped around his body. He followed the vines and saw where they had come from.

"Good work, Konoha!" Naruto exclaimed.

He then looked over to Red, who was still standing near the entrance to the alley.

"Hey, go get like the police or something," he told her.

"Yeah," she nodded and ran off.

"Are you okay?" Naruto asked, turning to the man he had been defending. The man didn't say anything, just stared at him questioningly.

That was when Naruto recognized him. He jumped back, getting into a fighting stance.

"I know you!" he said,"You go around with Sasuke-teme!"

"Calm down," he said, his voice level,"I don't want to fight with you. I just want to know where we are and how to get back."

Naruto slowly shifted back into his normal posture,"And why should I believe you? How do I know that you didn't trap us both here?"

"You don't," he said,"However, you do have my word that I didn't."

That seemed to make Naruto trust him a little bit more. A person's words meant a lot to him after all.

"Okay," Naruto said,"So why do you think we're here?"

"I don't know. I just woke up here a few days with no memory of how I got here."

"Same," Naruto said,"I don't know what's going on."

"Neither do I. I just want to get back."

There was a brief silence.

"I know," Naruto said,"Maybe you should come with us and we can try and figure out how to get back home."

He nodded,"All right. Where are you travelling to?"

"Around the whole region," Naruto said,"I'm gonna become a Pokemon Master!"

Just then, Red came running back, Officer Jenny and her Growlithe in tow. It turned out that the man that Konoha had vined was a part of Team Blödhgarm and he was arrested. Officer Jenny thanked them and then left, taking the man with her.

"So we have a new travelling companion,"Naruto said to Red after Officer Jenny left.

"Hello," the man said,"I'm Jugo, and this," a small Dratini slithered out from behind his back,"is Hope."
