"Good morning Disney High! Today is Monday the 16th and we have some very exciting news today."

As the secretary read off the announcements in her usual monotone voice, the homerooms were alive with talk.

"So how was your weekend Belle?" Jane whispered keeping quiet so their homeroom teacher, Ms. deVille, wouldn't hear her.

"It was alright. Things aren't getting better but they are getting easier."

"That's nice. Say do you want to work on that English project together after school?"

"I have to work until 6:30, but after that I should be free-"

"Girls! Listen to the announcements please!"

"Homecoming starts two weeks from today. Next week the dress up dates will be announced. "

"Hey, Snow, can I talk to you?" Snow White turned to see Tiana leaning over her seat.

"Sure what can I do for you?"

"As you might know, I'm planning on running for student council president. And I think I can pull some votes just because of my extracurricular activities. However, I need a manager, campaigning and what not? Anyways I was thinking-"

"You want me to head your campaign?"

"If it's not to much-"

"I'd love too. Sounds like my kind of thing!"

"Now students remember that the crosswalks are there for a reason. Please don't run across the street when there are cars nearby. We are not liable for broken arms, concussion, long terms injuries, or death.

Rapunzel had her notebook open and was scribbling plans inside of it. Her birthday was next weekend and she wanted to make sure everything was perfect. The timing was down to the minute, she had extra money set aside, gas fees and hotel reservations all set up. It was going to be the best birthday

Of course there was one tiny problem. Flynn Rider. Even though Rapunzel had been homeschooled for the entirety of elementary school and then sent to a private middle school, the girl wasn't as naive as she might seem.

As Mrs. Darling explained the metaphorical importance of the color yellow in early 20th century literature, Rapunzel's mind wandered until suddenly Ariel whipped around.

"Zel!" The redhead snapped.

"Uh?" Rapunzel zoomed back into the conversation. Ariel was waving a papers under her nose. Taking the paper Rapunzel sent an embarrassed smiled toward her friend and looked down at the reading guide that had been passed back.

"Now, I want you all to fill this out as we read. It will help you retain information, as

well as give you ideas for your final project!" Mrs. Darling explained happily. A few kids let out unhappy moans.

"None of that now! Alright class is almost over. You can take the rest of the period to talk quietly among yourselves." Mrs. Darling smiled and went back to her desk, the classroom immediately started to buzz.

"Is everything ok with you?" Ariel asked turning around in her seat.

"Yeah, why would you ask?"

"You kinda zoned out on me. Did you get everything Darling was saying?"

"Since when are you the good student Ariel? And in English class no less!" Rapunzel teased her friend, giggling at Ariel's faux-glare.

"I happen to like the book we're reading thank you very much." The redhead said with an air of indignation. "I find the symbolism very interesting. Though I feel the book needs a stronger female lead, or the author needs to express that she is indeed a symbol of all that humanity hates about itself. When in truth we are-"

"I think you had a study session with Belle!" Rapunzel interrupted. "Cheater!"

"She offered! Plus the advanced class is already done their final project on it. Their reading Macbeth now, so what if she let me borrow her notes..." Ariel was cut off by the bell. The two girls quickly gathered their things and headed for the door.

"I'll see you at lunch!" Ariel called over her shoulder. Rapunzel was going to her drawing class while Ariel was headed for geometry.

As she hurried through the halls, dodging backpacks and students, Ariel's drifted off into her head. She was worried about her friend. Since meeting up with what's-his-face Rapunzel had been acting strange and Ariel didn't like Zel's plan. Running away with a guy she had just met? It was weird. So caught up in Rapunzel's problems, Ariel almost ran into Jasmine walking into her class.

"Hey there day dreamer, everything alright?" Jasmine glanced at the redhead as she wandered to her seat. "Ariel? Are you with me?"

"Uh? Oh sorry, I was just thinking."

"Good it's about time you started doing that! Were you just thinking in general of about something more specific?"

"I'm worried about-"

"Girls, class has started!"

Aurora didn't come to school on Monday. Snow came to school, but Aurora didn't, in fact Aurora spent the first half Monday morning in her therapist's office, recounting the horrifying scene that took place in the lunchroom last Friday afternoon. Now, while this might seem strange to the casual observer why would Aurora need help if her friend suffered the trauma? (Actually, the casual observer would probably wonder why Aurora Thorne, the head cheerleader, student council secretary, homecoming queen front runner, and heiress of a rather large telecommunications company would need a therapist). However, Aurora's perfect life was not as pristine a picture underneath the surface.

When Aurora was a child, her father became mixed up with some unfortunate people, the details and effects aren't entirely clear, but the outcome certainly was. Aurora's father was an addict and somehow or another he came into contact with heroin and (somehow or another) was pulled over driving, and for some reason the police searched his car and that was all the evidence needed to lock Mr. Thorn up for a few years. Aurora was sent to live with her three aunts in Briar Rose, the next town over, however she was allowed to visit her mother every weekend.

The drive from Briar Rose to her hometown took usually 45 minutes, it went along winding streets, past solitary trees that slowly filled out into the picturesque Sherwood Forest. After leaving Briar Rose, there was only one stoplight on the whole drive, a single stopping point, nothing unusual about it.

One day, an SUV ran a red light, hit a tiny station wagon, and sped off as the smaller car flipped over. It just so happened the station wagon was carrying three elderly women and their four year old niece. Fauna and Flora were knocked unconscious, but Meriwether was not, and screamed for help, trapped, alone, and hopeless. Finally, after and hour and a half of pleading for rescue, the car was spotted by a five year old from the back of a minivan. Meriwether survived the accident with only a broken leg, Fauna was paralyzed from the waist down, and Flora sustained serious brain trauma.

And the four year old, the little Aurora who was on the way to her mother's home, her brain injuries were so severe she went into a coma that lasted a year and a half. When Aurora finally emerged from her comatose state, she informed her mother that during the time she was able to hear only two things, the sound of her aunts desperate cries for help, and the voice of the little boy who saved her asking if she was alright.

Over a decade after the incident, Aurora is still terrified of brain injuries and especially loss of consciousness, and the idea that she was the reason her friend almost died had sent her into free fall, the only people who understood her predicament were her trusted counselor, and Philip, the boy who had saved her life so many years ago.

A/N: Hey guys so I'm back. Sorry that I've been away for so long (and sorry for the terrible incredibly short chapter that really doesn't make any sense and has no plot line whatsoever) I've had a really, really bad last year. And I'm really tired and don't want go into it. (If you really want to know I'm planning on posting something on my Tumblr writingtj ) Also, this story is going to go through a maturing of sorts, and I changed the rating to show that. I really hate this chapter and I'm really sorry this is all I have to offer but I promise I am going to get this back on track. Thanks for all the support!
