An Unexpected Visitor
A/N: So it's been awhile. I really wanted to give you guys something but I didn't know what to write so this is really the best I could come up with.
It was three in the morning two days after the David-DiNozzos had come back home from their trip to Israel. There was a knock on the door and a very tired Tony went to answer it. He made his way to the door and when he looked through the peephole his sleepiness disappeared. Stood on the other side of the door was none other than Anthony DiNozzo Sr. Tony opened the door and let his dad inside before picking up the bag that Senior had brought with him.
'Dad, what are you doing here?'
'You could sound a little more enthusiastic, Junior, I came to see you,' Senior replied, rather loudly.
'Dad, keep your voice down!' Tony whisper yelled, 'Kiana just fell asleep.' Just as the words left his mouth the familiar cry of Eyal being woken up reached his ears. 'I'll be back in a minute, wait here,' Tony said to his dad before going to calm his son. He walked into the nursery to find a sleepy Ziva with Eyal in her arms and Kiana wide-awake in her cot.
'Who was at the door?' Ziva asked.
'My dad,' Tony answered, 'I'm sorry you had to get up. I told him to keep his voice down.'
'It is fine, Tony. Now why don't you get Kiana because I doubt she is going to sleep and I will go put some coffee on.' With that she walked out of the room with Eyal. Tony bent down over his daughter's cot and picked her up.
'Come on, princess, let's go talk to your granddad.' He said taking her out into the living room. He went into the living room and sat down on the sofa next to his dad. 'So, dad, how long you in town for?'
'I'm here for a week, Junior, I thought I'd come see you. I haven't seen the twins in so long. They've really grown.'
'Yep, they have. So a week, huh? Do you want to stay here?' Tony asked really hoping he would say no.
'I was hoping you would say that. I really want to spend some time with you guys and I figured the best way to do that is to stay with you.'
Tony groaned internally. 'Great, we'll get you set up in the spare room.' He said trying to smile. As he said it Ziva walked into the room with a tray of coffee in her hands and Eyal running in after her.
'So you're staying with us for a week?' Ziva asked as she handed senior a cup of coffee.
'Thank you dear,' he said accepting the coffee, 'Yes, I'm staying for a week and then I'm going to Italy for a month.'
'You're going to Italy?' Tony queried before taking a sip of the coffee Ziva had just handed him.
'Yep. I haven't been since the last reunion and I've been missing it recently.'
'That's wonderful. We just got back from Israel a couple of days ago. We wanted to go to Italy too but we figured it would be too much with the twins,' Ziva said with a laugh.
'You went to Israel?'
'Yeah, dad, we went to Israel. We went to go see Ziva's aunt.' His tone was casual but form his posture you could tell that he was waiting for his dad to say something terrible.
'That's…nice.' Was all he offered. Ziva could see that Tony was rather tense so she took it on herself to sort out the situation.
'It's about four in the morning and we're still a little jetlagged. I think it's best that we all go to bed.' She said before lifting a half asleep Eyal into her arms.
'Yeah, Zi, I think that's a good idea. Come on dad, I'll show you the spare room,' Tony said standing up.
'Yes, I'm a little tired myself. Goodnight Ziva. Goodnight Eyal.' With that Tony led the way to the spare room. He showed his dad where everything was and left the room with nothing more than a 'Goodnight dad.' He went and put Kiana in her cot as she had fallen asleep on his shoulder and went into his and Ziva's room. As he climbed into bed he muttered, 'This is going to be a long week.' Before he pulled Ziva close to him and drifted back into his sleep.
