A/N As I said last chapter, this is not watching the musical. It's going to be some magical werewolf adventures! Also, I rewrote the very first chapter, as I was tired of seeing tons of views on the first chapter and it the number gets cut down by half on the second chapter. The writing was pretty bad, but it's rewritten now!
Disclaimer: Do I own Harry Potter?
No.
"What time is it?" asked Severus.
"It's about 11:30." stated Lily. Remus abruptly looked terrified and Sirius, James, and Peter jumped up. "What?" she asked.
"It's the full moon," said Remus, barely above a whisper. "We need to go. We'll meet up here tomorrow at 10 okay?"
Lily looked sympathetic and worried at the same time as she watched the Marauders sprint out, leaving her alone with Severus. "I guess we should call a house-elf, eat, and then go to bed?" she said to Severus.
"Yes," he agreed. They called the house-elf and asked for a quick meal. A few minutes later, it returned carrying two bowls of soup for them. Both quickly finished them, before heading off to bed to wait for the Marauders return.
oOo
"Shit, shit, shit –" repeated James. He had been worried the entire walk out to the Whomping Willow. Madame Pomfrey had only this year, begun to allow Remus to walk to the Shrieking Shack alone as he was deemed responsible enough, and now the Marauders always accompanied him on the walk out. "This is probably going to be a pretty bad transformation, Remus. You're supposed to be resting all day today to be ready!"
"James, I'll be fine," reassured Remus. "We've just been sitting down watching a video, it'll be OK." Truthfully, he was just as nervous, but his transformations never seemed to be as painful when he had his friends in their animagus forms alongside him.
"It's not like there's anything we can do," said Sirius. "We just have to go with it!" They four began to almost crawl through the tunnel towards the shack. Back in their fourth year, they had been able to easily walk through, as they had been short, small, and scrawny. Now, in their seventh year, it was not as easy.
"That's the root, right?" asked Peter. Peter and Sirius had marked a point from where they could change into their animagus forms. They waited until they were a fourth of the way through the tunnel before changing, as a precaution. If caught, they could face Azkaban for becoming Animagi illegally and staying unregistered.
"Yeah," agreed Sirius. Then he said cheekily, "Now we don't have to hunch over! Have fun Jamie and Remmy!" before his features began morphing into those of a large, black dog. Peter also quickly shrank down into the form of a rat. James glared at the two animals before continuing his trudging down the tunnel.
James checked his watch. "11:47," he muttered, "we need to hurry." Finally after what felt like hours of going as fast as was possible, they reached the shack. He shot one more glance back at Remus, who was walking to a metal cabinet hidden behind a wall which opened, to stash his clothes, wand, and anything else he owned. There, it would be safe from his attacks. James changed into a large, majestic stag and stepped back.
Sirius, James, and Peter turned and tried to block out Remus's screams of pain as he transformed. Remus preferred that the other Marauders didn't watch him in this much pain. Once the cries stopped, they turned around. Where Remus Lupin had been standing before, a large gray wolf took his place, pacing around the small room.
Sirius cautiously pawed forward and Moony the werewolf greeted him. During the full moon, they were a pack: werewolf, stag, dog, and rat. The dog began making his way towards the exit and Remus followed him. James jumped in front of them, blocking the path. There was no way he was going to tire Remus out like that, not tonight. He would want to be as well rested as possible, so as not to make everyone wait to see the musical.
The dog turned, and began to push the werewolf back, hoping he'd just lay down and sleep the night away. Of course, he had no such luck. Remus most certainly, did not want to sleep. He was with his pack! He wanted to play! And so, the dog and wolf had a friendly, playful scuffle, Sirius tiring out much more quickly than the powerful werewolf.
If a stag could smile, James would be grinning now. Sirius was tiring quickly and Remus seemed to have a never ending supply of energy. He stepped over and allowed the wolf to chase him around the shack. This was a lot better than when Moony would be in the hospital wind, covered in injuries from where he attacked himself.
After hours and hours of tussling, dawn came. Quickly, three of the marauders raced down the tunnel into the light. They changed back into their human forms and sprinted towards the castle. They ran until they reached the portrait of the Fat Lady. "Well that went well," said Peter.
"Where have you been?" shrieked the portrait. She sighed, as the Marauders gave her identical innocent faces. "Never mind, I don't want to know."
Sirius grinned cheekily. "You probably don't. Billywig stings." The painting swung open to reveal the Gryffindor common room and the three sneaked up to their respective beds.
A/N So? How did you like this chapter? The next one will have them watching the musical.
