I opened my eyes last night and saw you in the low light
Walking down by the bay, on the shore, staring up at the stars that aren't there anymore
I was feeling the night grow old and you were looking so cold
So like an introvert, I drew my over shirt
Around my arms and began to shiver violently before
You happened to look and see the tunnels all around me
Running into the dark underground
All the subways around create a great sound
To my motion fatigue, farewell with your ear to a seashell
You can hear the waves in underwater caves
As if you actually were inside a saltwater room
Time together isn't ever quite enough
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
Only time, only time
Can you believe that the crew has gone and they wouldn't let me sign on?
All my islands have sunk in the deep, and I can hardly relax or even oversleep
But I feel warm with your hand, in mine, when we walk along the shoreline
I guess we'll never know why sparrows love the snow
We'll turn out all of the lights and set this ballroom aglow
So tell me, darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
Yeah, all the time, all the time
Time together isn't ever quite enough
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
Only time, only time
When we're apart whatever are you thinking of?
If this is what I call home, why does it feel so alone?
So tell me darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
All the time, all the time
Time together isn't ever quite enough
When we're apart whatever are you thinking of?
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
So tell me darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
All the time
Oh all the time

Chapter Two-Part 1: The Choice
"I never want to see you again, Wright."
Those were his final words. Apparently, Wright did not take them seriously, and came to the conclusion: if he couldn't meet Miles Edgeworth as a member of the general public, well then, he'd give up art school and become a defense attorney. He'd force Edgeworth to meet him, whether he wanted to or not.
"I didn't expect to meet you after all these years. To bring up unnecessary feelings. You listen to me; don't ever show your face before me again."
No, not something you say to someone you care about. But Edgeworth had unlearned how to care. It was a defense. Trying to go against what he knew deep down he felt. What he hoped against hope that Wright felt as well.
But that most unpredictable of defense attorneys was tenacious. And eventually, he broke down Edgeworth's barriers.
"Th-thank you."
"Y-you're welcome."
When Edgeworth finally got out of detention, he was there.
"Wright."
"Hi Edgeworth!" he raised his right hand, navy blue blazer looped over his arm. "Welcome back to freedom! After the post-trial celebration, I didn't want you to feel forgotten."
Edgeworth stepped out into the hallway, signed some papers to retrieve his overcoat and some of belongings that had been in holding for the duration of the trial. He glanced down the hallway.
"What is it?"
"Where's Gumshoe?"
Wright's voice changed ever so slightly. "Detective Gumshoe?"
Edgeworth's brow knit. "That puppydog of a man has made me his obsession for so long, I expected he'd be here to slobber all over me."
Wright rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't know, but I think someone may have tipped the media off to the fact that Miles Edgeworth, the Demon Prosecutor, was being released today. There's a crowd of journalists out front just dying to ask y'know, 'who-what-where-when and why?'."
"Hmm. This does not make me happy."
Phoenix ambled closer as Edgeworth thought. "Well, you could come over to my place."
Taken aback, Edgeworth asked, "your place? Why?"
"Why? I don't know. I just thought maybe, after these crazy few months it might be, um, necessary."
"Perhaps you don't remember, I am not a big one for chats. Thank you but, as much as I appreciate you coming to see me, I'd really like to get back to my office, and then my own bed." It was the truth. He also wanted to add a long soak into the equation.
"Oh totally. Completely understand. But you see, there's those newshounds. Your office and your apartment," he shrugged. "Probable stakeouts. If you come to my place, the media is not going to be looking for you there."
At Edgeworth's hesitation, he drew his final trump card. "I'll make you some tea."
"Fine."
HOLY CRAP! Too long between postings! Thank you so much to those who have stuck with me over the many months of silence, and to Inspirational Muse Alana, Reeba, and ClockworkEden for reviewing. Also thank you to Capcom and Nintendo for bringing Gyakuten Saiban 5/ Ace Attorney Dual Destinies to the USA!
