Among Other Things

Aang was now in a realm unfamiliar to him. It was almost like an off shoot of the spirit world, but completely black and void of anything. Anything that was except for the young man that hes now channeling the chi out of. The man was dressed much like Aang was, which in this realm consisted of a single loin cloth, he also wore a strange beetle shaped amulet that glowed green, and much to Aang's shock his heart seemed to be shattered and pieces seemed to float freely from his body. His odd blue hair and golden eyes also seemed much more intense in this world too.

"Yo." The man gave an odd two fingered salute.

"Hi." Aang said with a wave. "I'm the Avatar."

This produced a shocked look from the man. "Great, kid hero. Just my luck."

"Yeah, I kinda am." Aang smiled. "So, don't be afraid but I'm kind of-"

"I know channeling the chi out of me so my magic doesn't' blow me up." The man said, "I've had it happen before, resurrection wasn't fun. Or clean. Or sane."

Aang just looked worried.

"Choronus Illadae." The man extended his hand. "Alternate reality sorcerer, chi wizard and archaeologist."

"Avatar Aang." Aang shook his hand. "The, uh, Avatar."

"So, this going to take long?" Choronus asked.

"About a day and a half." Aang said.

"Yay." Choronus mock cheered. "Is the kid all right?"

"She's..." Aang realized that Choronus had no real knowledge of how she was before hand. "To us she's still broken, but she's taking her medicine now and Zuko is going to hire a doctor to take care of her at the palace."

"Thank the gods, that kid needs it." Choronus sighed. "Coincidentally, you know why I'm here?"

"I assume an accident?" Aang asked.

"No." Choronus said. "If it were an accident I wouldn't have been stuck here so long."

"So why were you sent here?" Aang asked.

"Well, some idiots from my world found the door way to your world and have been exchanging your weirdo creatures for demons and monsters from mine." Choronus said. "Which happens to fit my talents just nicely."

"Why?" Aang asked.

"I tend to deal with demons mostly and monsters run a good second place." Choronus sighed. "So my boss' boss basically sent me here to send them back."

"Oh well that's good." Aang breathed a sigh of relief. "How do you do that?"

"I kill'em." Choronus said completely nonchalantly.

"Well then, we have a problem." Aang said. "I can't support killing."

"Not talking about people kid. Talking about demons, vampires and I think a couple of were species..." Choronus said. "And you don't have to be there, in fact it'd probably be better if you weren't."

"Do you have to kill them?" Aang asked.

Choronus groaned. "Demons, yes. Vampires, More than likely, they don't like to listen to mortals. Were creatures, probably not."

Aang still looked disappointed.

"Wow, I never thought I'd be begging for a speech from Supes." Choronus sighed. "All right I'll make you a deal kid, unless they're directly threatening someone's life I will do my absolute best to send them back."

"Well, I guess that'll have to do." Aang said. "But how will you send them back?"

"Magic spell given to me by a god of the dead." Choronus said not wanting to explain Anubis' actual position in the egyptian pantheon.

"Oh." Aang said as he just stood there. "So what do we do for the rest of this time?"

"Sing, I don't know. Last time I was here it was decorated for coma trauma." Choronus said.

"Hm..." Aang said and then he sang. "One hundred Egg custard tarts on the wall, one hundred egg custard tarts! You take one down, you pass it around. Ninety-nine egg custard tarts on the wall!"

"Oh you had better be joking..." Choronus said darkly, but Aang merely continued singing.

It had been almost two days and Zuko, Iroh and Aang had taken the unconscious Choronus to the Ba Sing Sae zoo. It had been nearly two days of Azula going from strangely silent, to homicidal to extremely meek and subdued. Everyone was stressed.

"Are they done yet?" Azula asked nervously as Katara and the others watched over her. "Stop staring at me." the others all shifted as they sat in the room. That is all but Ty Lee.

"Are you still mad at me Azula?" Ty Lee asked.

"Yes." Azula snapped. "I mean no." She shook her head, her thoughts were clear, but still muddled. "I don't know."

"I'm sorry if I hurt you." Ty Lee said. "But you were gonna hurt Mai, just for saving your brother."

"He was a traitor." Azula snapped. "And now I am."

"You brother and sister, Azula, nothing will change that." Ty Lee smiled. "Just because I get annoyed or angry at my sisters doesn't mean I don't love them. Don't you feel the same way about Zuko?"

The room got quiet as everyone's glance slowly centered back on Azula. Azula was deathly quiet as she listened to Ty Lee. Then she just curled her knees up to her chest and silently rocked in place.

"I'm sorry." Ty Lee said, "I didn't mean to upset you."

"You know you don't need to apologize to her." Katara said.

"She's still my friend." Ty Lee said. This caused an immediate reaction from Azula, causing her to run from the room crying.

"You made her cry!" Ty Lee shouted at Katara.

"Ty Lee, she's probably never going to stop crying." Katara said. "Her mind is broken."

"Jeez, you're a depressing girl." A new voice said. The others turned to see Iroh and Zuko holding up the man that Aang saved. The man then looked to Aang. "I thought you said your girlfriend was nice?"

"She is." Aang said, a slight frown forming on his face. "Most of the time."

"She has problems with forgiving Azula." Zuko explained.

"I can see, now can I get a chair?" He said as Iroh and Zuko set him down gently in one.

"Wait, wasn't there a wound on his chest?" Katara pointed out as he sat down.

"Scars won't form on my body, part of powerful magic charm." He explained.

"Guys, meet Choronus Illadae." Aang said. "He's a sorcerer sent here to hunt rogue demons and monsters sent here from his world."

"He has a pretty aura." Ty Lee said. "All purply and gold!"

"Purply?" Choronus laughed lightly. "You can see my aura?"

"Mmhmm." Ty Lee said with joyful nod.

"Great, here it comes." Suki sighed.

"Zuko's is all orange and yellow. Suki's is green tipped with yellow, Aang's is all sorts of fun colors." Ty Lee jumped to each person as she spoke. "Iroh's is a calm and peaceful sea blue, like your hair almost. Sokka's is a great brave blue. Toph's is a deep brownish gold. Katara's is always the soft pink and snow white. Mei, who's not here is usually gray, but it's been almost a dingy yellow lately." Ty Lee smiled. "Oh and Ming's is fire red."

"Thanks for introductions." Choronus said. "Now what about Azula's?"

"Are you serious?" Suki asked.

"Her aura changes a lot. The last time I saw her it was black and she didn't talk to me." Ty Lee sniffed. "We used to be friends. Now though it's odd and scary."

"Scary how?" Choronus asked.

"Blood red." Ty Lee didn't even finish and Choronus was already bolting the direction Azula's feet had indicated she had ran. Seconds after that a door splintered and he called for help.

Katara ran a head of everyone, knowing exactly why he was running so fast. She cursed herself for not remembering to have someone with Azula at all times. Then she reached the room and Azula was on her guest bed looking at her wrist which were pouring small amounts of blood forward. As Katara looked at the wounds she was thankful the cuts were going the wrong direction and were shallow.

"Hold still." Katara said, Azula moved away from her fast.

"Let her help kiddo." Choronus said.

"She'll just kill me." Azula said.

"Weren't you just trying that?" Choronus said as he then fell flat on his rear. "Either kill yourself right or let the girl help."

"Azula." Zuko walked in. "Let Katara help."

Azula looked first to her brother than to Choronus. Then Ty Lee pushed her way into the room and quickly ran away crying. That's when Azula moved closer to Katara and let the waterbender work on the wounds.

"Somebody pick me up so I can talk to aura girl please." Choronus said.

"Right now I think you need your rest too." Zuko said as he gave the sorcerer a hard glare.

"Don't give me that look." Choronus said flatly. "Now will someone help me up?" He was then pulled to his feet by Ming. "Hey. First to aura-girl, then I can flirt with you ok?" Ming just rolled her eyes.

"Oh he is going to be sorely disappointed." Iroh said.

"Why?" Zuko asked.

"You don't think she lives with me just because we work together, do you?" Iroh smiled slightly. Zuko paled at the thought.

"Hey, aura-girl!" Choronus called out as Ming carried him into the front room.

"Yeah." Ty Lee sniffed.

"She's letting healing girl do her job." Choronus said as he got to a chair under his own strength and was pleased to see the young girl smile. Ming then left with a dismissive roll of the eyes. "She's gonna need a friend that knows what's coming."

"I know." Ty Lee said.

"Stick around her, you see her aura go that color and you get someone fast." Choronus said. "I got a big job to do here so I can't always be around, but you, you can."

"Ok." Ty Lee smiled.

"You want us there too?" Suki asked.

Ty Lee shook her head. "I think Mei and I can do this with Zuko and his mother."

"Oh jeez." Suki breathed, "She doesn't know."

"Doesn't know?" Choronus groaned. "Can the drama wait till morning please?"

"That's probably a good idea." Suki said. "You need help getting to a bed?"

"Iyn lazy boy." Choronus said as he slapped the chair and it changed form into a recliner. He promptly reclined in it with a smile on his face. "No, but I could use a shirt and a blanket or something"

"You are full of surprises." Suki said.

"Wow, that's so cool." Ty Lee giggled.

"Go keep an eye on her." Choronus yawned. "I'll catch some Z's." He then focused on sleeping. "Try not to blab about her sleep talking." He heard a small giggle as the girls left.
