"Wake up now, I wanna play!" an unknown voice called. I woke up in a hollow tree which seemed very familiar for some reason. I felt very different in some way but I didn't know why. I had a quick look at myself "Nothing strange here... wait what?!" My fur had changed. It was now light brown and my tail was white at the tip. I also had a white mane around my neck. I also had a great bump in the back of my head. I went to see what's going on "Come on Shade! We don't have all night" the voice called again. I walked out through a small hole which served as an entrance. Right outside the door was someone who looked just like me but all white. "Do I know you?" I asked. "Don't be silly big bro, you know who I am, c'mon now! I wanna play!" "Now hold on for just a minute here, Where am I? Who are you?" the white pokemon lowered it's eyes. "Those guys must have beaten you up quite bad if you don't remember your home or your own brother" "Someone beat me up?" I paused for a moment "are you telling me that was all a dream?" "What dream? What was it about?" "I dreamed that I was an umbreon. I woke up in some forest with no memory left by a river with three vaporeons in it. They had saved me from drowning and then I just walked away to find out who I was. I met this espeon girl called Shine and she decided to come along. Then there was a lot of stuff happening that I can not remember but she got killed by some gengars. It was some red pokemon called absol had tried to kill me but his hitmen got the wrong one. Last thing in the dream was that I gathered an army to go kill him but he ended up knocking me out" "Wow, that's quite an adventure! And yeah, some really mean umbreons knocked you out here on our real world, but you're good now, aren't you?" I felt a slight headache crawl up on me. "What's your name? I can't just go around and call you brother now, can I?" He giggled a bit "I'm Night" "Can we play now? Pleeease?" He looked at me with big, sparkly eyes. "Okay then" "YES!" he screamed while jumping up and down. "Let's play catch! You first!" he said and took off the other way and I ran after.

Some time later we were both exhausted and just felt like collapsing. We heard a voice calling "Boys! Dinner is served!" "Yes mom!" Night Shouted and took off as if we didn't run just a few seconds ago. I stayed behind to catch my breath. As I Laid there in the grass panting another one like us approached me. "Are you okay there?" According to the voice I guess it's a girl "Yeah, I'm fine. Just catching my breath" "oh, okay then" she said and slowly turned around, as if she didn't really want to leave just yet. "Hey" I called her "Yes?" "What's your name?" "I'm..." She was cut off by Night "Come on Shade, the food ain't gonna eat itself!" I took a big sigh. "I'll talk to you later" I said and went to eat. We stopped in front of an umbreon who I guess is our mom. "It's goldeen" she told us. My brother didn't seem to like it very much "YUCK!" He exclaimed. "Don't, it's good for you" "Ugh... Okay mom..."

Once we were done with the fish Night started running around again. I laid down on a small hill at the edge of our camp. I looked up to the sky and started making figures in the stars. A familiar voice called for me "What are you doing out here? All others are in the middle of the camp, celebrating tonight's hunt" I turned around and saw her, the girl from before. "Nah, it's too noisy. I like to have some peace and quiet" She sat down beside me. "You never got to tell me your name earlier" I reminded her "Shine. I'm Shine" "Nice name, I'm Shade" "I know. You're the nightshade brothers, Your mom love those things, the deadly nightshade. Never quite understood what she like so much about them. My mom told me about that before she was... caught" "oh..." I lowered my ears. "I'm sorry" "it's ok. She was a good mom and I'm trying to do anything that would have made her proud" She smiled and looked into the distance. "I wanna become just like her"

We kept talking for a long time, all the way until the sun rose "I have to go now, my father must be worried" I nodded at her and she turned around "how about we do something tonight again?" she stopped for a second and smiled "Meet me here at midnight if you're interested" she turned around with her mouth open as if to say something but she never got to it, her father called for her "Be here" she said and left. I started to feel a bit tired so I went home too. Upon entering our hollow tree home I was tackled by my brother "Where have you been? I've been looking all over the place for you!" I could see in his eyes that he had been crying "I thought you went into the woods and got lost or killed!" his breath was heavy, I guess he just got home from running around looking for me. There was a moment of silence between us. That happens when I'm thinking of what I am to say next. "I'm sorry" was the only legit respond I could give. "From now on I'll tell you if I go anywhere, okay?" he nodded and buried his face in my chest. His whole body was shaking. I felt a faint scent of fresh blood. Night's legs were covered with cuts, some shallow and some a bit deeper. "What happened to you?" I asked. "Well, remember those mean umbreons I told you about?" "yeah, I remember, those who knocked the memory out of me" "exactly, they saw me while I was looking for you and started chasing me. I could shake them off me in the woods but I had to run through some thorn bushes to get rid of them" this is all my fault, If I hadn't gone off nothing of that would have happened. Night drifted into sleep while I was thinking about what I could've done differently and soon I followed him.

When I woke up it was still light out. Night was still sleeping on my chest so I gently pushed his head of me and placed it on the floor. I walked out and got blinded by the bright red light of the sun setting just over the tree tops. After my eyes had adjusted a bit to the light I went up on my hill. My eyes hurt because of how bright it was even though the sun had almost gone below the trees. Soon it turned dark and my eyes worked as usual again. I went into the woods to find something that I could break. I found a thin, rotten tree without any actual branches and tackled it. I left big crack in it. I tackled the tree repeatedly until it snapped, making hundreds of tiny splinters fly all directions. The part that fell looked like the perfect thing to bite. I sank my teeth into the almost hollow wood and clenched my jaws as hard as I could. Halfway through my jaws locked. I couldn't release it no matter how hard I tried. I lifted it off the ground and felt how the muscles in my neck gave in, letting the miniature log fall back to the ground with me still hanging on to it. As my chin crashed into the ground the jaw unlocked and got punched all the way through. With bleeding teeth I looked at the pieces of my work. "I'll keep doing this, I'm gonna train so I can take on those pieces of shit who refuse to leave us alone"

when the moon had just lost it's grip of the sea and started to rise I heard Night shouting my name. I sprinted towards the sound as fast as physically possible for me and arrived panting. When I got there I saw a purple pokemon with hands that were not even attached to the body floating around Night. "LEAVE ME ALONE" he yelled and swiped for the strange creature. He missed and fell to the ground. I mustered some strength and charged for it. I had to jump to be able to reach but even then it just seemed impossible, as if I went right through it. The creature laughed "You can never hit me with your petty normal attacks!" in the back of my head I heard a voice "Remember that the bite is not a normal type attack, but a dark type. If you were to meet a ghost or psychic type pokemon this is your best choice until you learn of another attack that isn't normal or fighting" I bared my teeth and saw the floater's smile turn upside down. I jumped at it and heard a loud shriek as I bit its hand. I tried what I did earlier to lock my jaw but this time it didn't really go too well. the ghost punched me with its free hand and made me lose the grip. It flew away and yelled angrily "We're not done yet eevee, I'll be back for you AND your white friend! Count on it" my legs were shaking from adrenaline and I half walking, half stumbling made my way to Night. "Are you ok? What happened?" he looked at me for a while as if I had done something amazing "I'm good. That... thing just jumped on me right after I left the house, I tried to attack it but went right through. I called for you and... well, you know the rest" there was a moment of silence between us before I started rolling on the ground in laughter, probably due to the adrenaline, and Night followed my suit. We laughed for a while until we noticed half the clan was looking at us as if we'd completely lost our minds. We stood up and acted as if none of it had ever happened.

After that the day went on without many special events. At one time when I was playing with my brother we heard a very loud female-ish scream. we looked towards the sound and saw the band of bullies rushing out of the woods as if they were chased by fire. After them came not fire but about fifteen pissed off beedrills. they came towards us forcing us to run too so we wouldn't be attacked. We had to run a long way before we saw our chance to hide. We ran to a river and jumped in. the water was rather warm and served as a good hiding spot. I think they'll have a hard time finding us here. The water was very clean and allowed me to see a few meters. Horror struck me when I saw my brother slowly sinking towards the bottom. I went above the surface to take a deep breath before diving after him. At first I couldn't see him at all but a few meters down I could see the blurred out shadow of his limp body. He was tangled into some seaweed making it difficult to get him up. I swam under him so I could bite them off but when I bit one all of them slithered away. I didn't really pay it a second thought, I had to get Night to the surface. I put him on the land right beside the river after I made sure the umbreons and beedrills were long gone. Then I felt something wrapping around my hind legs and before I knew it I was below the surface again. Panicked I tried to swim upwards but to no avail, whatever was pulling me down was way stronger and it had me in an iron grip. I heard a splashing noise just before I felt my consciousness slowly drift away. My chest started to hurt a lot and a beautiful scenery of flowing colors was shown in front of me, it was very beautiful.

It didn't last for too long though. Next thing I knew I woke up beside the river with night right in my face, giving me a tiny heart attack. "Shade! Are you okay?" he asked. I nodded in response. I waited a few seconds before asking something "What happened to you?" was the first thing that came to mind. "I don't know. I think I hit my head on something because it hurt a lot for half a second before it all went blank" there was a long hack in his forehead to confirm but there was no blood coming out of it. It had dried long ago. "How long was I out?" he looked at the sky. "The moon is almost gone" "oh" I said quietly to my self and laid my head back to rest on the ground. Then I remembered "Shine! W-w-we were supposed to meet tonight!" I jumped up and tried to go to the hill where I was supposed to meet her but as soon as I got up I started feeling dizzy and my vision blurred out. "Take it easy" a voice said. "You need to get up slowly or you may pass out." It was the clan's loner. He never speaks and is rarely seen. If he stays at home or go somewhere I don't know. This, I think, is the first time anyone has heard his voice in a long time. He looked just like a normal umbreon except for his markings. A regular umbreon would have yellow or golden rings or, very rarely, blue but his were almost red. And his eyes. They had the color of fire instead of the regular dark red. "What are you doing here?" I asked him. "I saw you needed help. Actually I saw it all from when your bullies woke up the beedrills until you jumped into the river, a smart move if it wasn't for the tentacools. When I saw you jump in I rushed down from my place on the mountain to pick you up. When I got here I found your brother unconscious on the riverside but you were gone. I figured the tentacools had pulled you beneath the surface so I jumped in and got you back up" "Well... Thank you but why did you save me? You must have a ton of things to do that are more import..." he cut me off "No way. I sit on the mountain all day looking at the people down in the camp" "But why aren't you in there with the rest of us?" "No particular reason, I just... err... don't feel very comfortable around lots of other people" He sounded like he was hiding something from me. Something I'd like to know. However, just flat out asking for it will probably not yield anything. I'm gonna have to trick it out of him sometime. I looked at the sky. But now is DEFINATELY not the time! "Thank you for picking me up but I really gotta go now, hopefully we'll meet again" I shouted as I sprinted towards the hill.

Shine was already there, waiting for me. She made a deep sigh "I thought you wouldn't come" she told me. "Yeah, sorry about that. I was caught up in something rather big" "like what?" she asked in disbelief. "Well... It's a rather long story and you most likely wouldn't believe it" "Try me" I told her the entire story but I left my rescuer unidentified because maybe if people get to know he saved and talked to me they will all start crowding around him and he'd be forced to go someplace else. When I was finished she stared at me with her eyes wide open. "You were right, it WAS quite unbelievable" "well, I guess you'll just have to trust me on this one" "Guess so. So what are we doing?" "We could go to the lake and see if we can catch a fish or two or maybe go into the woods and pick some berries or mayb..." "I vote for berry picking" why do people always cut me off in the middle of a sentence? "Berry picking it is then"

The forest is pretty calm at night. You can hear a noctowl every once in a while but that's about it. Not like in the day when you get headaches from all the buzzing and chirping and the sun stinging in your eyes. We found a nice bush with lots of oran berries in it and started picking. We put most of the berries in a little pouch-thingy that she kept strapped around her right foreleg and... well, we ate the rest. It looked a bit odd having something strapped onto you but I'm not questioning it as long as it makes our task easier.

We were picking our berries for all that was left of the night until the sun started sneaking up over the horizon. It wasn't until the bright light blinded us that we realized how late it was. We looked at each other and laughed a bit. None of us had any idea what time it was. "Same time same place tomorrow?" I asked "You bet!". After arranging our next meeting we both went our separate ways. That day I went to sleep with a big smile and good dreams
