So, sorry this took a long time to update, enjoy this chapter.
The next morning, James sat down with Sirius, Remus, and Peter at the back of the class in Transfiguration.
"Well, guys, tomorrow is full moon." James said in a hushed voice.
"And?" asked Sirius, ignorantly.
"Oh, nothing, just asking whether you're ready for some fun?", said James, grinning.
"Come on now, don't take this lightly," Remus warned, " It's still very dangerous."
Sirius snorted, "Oh, come off it, Moony, I wish there was full moon once every week."
Remus shook his head, exasperated.
"Potter, Black, Lupin, Pettigrew!" Professor McGonagall said sharply, " Did any of you hear what I just said?"
"Sorry, Professor, but could you please repeat what you said?" Remus asked politely.
McGonagall rolled her eyes. "Well, I must tell you, because Potter has to know, anyway. We are having a Yule Ball, this weekend."
James raised an eyebrow," And what does this have to do with me, Professor?"
"It is a tradition of the Triwizard Tournament, and each of the champions must have a dancing partner." She continued.
"Must?" asked James.
"Yes, Potter, must.", said McGonagall.
James thought about it for a second. "Okay!", he replied happily.
They worked on transfiguring their desks into pigs, (well, at least Remus and Peter did, since James and Sirius finished in less than a minute) until the class was over, and they headed to lunch.
"Hey, Padfoot, we haven't done a prank in a while." James said seriously.
Sirius lifted up his face that was pretty much stuffed in a chicken leg, "So wha' are you pla'ing, Prongs?" he asked, his mouth full.
"I dunno, what do you think?" James asked.
Sirius swallowed his chicken. " Let's prank Evans and her friends."
"No.", James said hastily.
Sirius raised an eyebrow, "What? Planning on asking this fine fiery haired lady to the Yule ball?"
The four got up and started walking to the common room.
"Maybe." James replied nonchalantly, " Who are you asking anyway?"
Sirius thought about it for a second, " I'm going with Marlene."
"What!" said Remus, taken aback, " You already asked her?"
"Oh, well, about that-" Sirius began.
"Password?" the Fat Lady asked.
"Sugar Quill.", replied Remus, and the portrait opened so they could enter the common room.
Lily, Marlene, and Alice were plopped on a couch. Marlene and Alice were giggling and looked like they were teasing Lily about something, while Lily looked embarrassed and irritated.
"Oi, Marlene, you're going to the ball with me!" Sirius called out.
Marlene raised an eyebrow, " I am?"
Sirius grinned, " You know you want to."
Marlene sighed, " If you insist, but I'm only doing this because I feel bad for you, Black."
Sirius grinned again, " Believe what you want to believe, your heart will beg to differ."
Sirius looked at James, "So, when are you planning to ask Evans, Prongs?" he said rather loudly.
Lily turned red.
"Oh yeah, about that." James repeated Sirius and tried to sound nonchalant, " Hey, Lily, go to the ball with me?"
Lily shook her head, " I'm sorry James, but I'm already going with someone else." Her face was dark red.
"Oh," James said in a crestfallen voice, " Well, who?"
"Tim Hardaway" she replied.
James's spirits rose. Hardaway was a git who only wanted sex. "Well good luck with him, Evans." He replied, seriously.
"So, why does Sirius call you Prongs, and why do you call him Padfoot?" she asked James, hastily changing the subject.
Even Sirius turned serious (no pun intended) when she asked that.
"Oh, erm, well, you know, boys and their nicknames." James squirmed uncomfortably, and the Marauders walked away quickly.
Alice raised an eyebrow, " I've never seen them walk away from us three."
"Yeah, I wonder." Lily said curiously.
"So, anyway, back to what I was saying, Lily likes James!" Marlene sang in a sing-song voice.
"Will you stop that!" Lily said in an exasperated voice.
"Only until you admit it," Marlene said smugly.
"Alright, fine, I like James Potter, are you happy?" Lily said in a hushed voice.
Marlene and Alice giggled," Just wait until we tell him!"
That's the end of this one. I'll write another one later today because of the shortness of this.
