Letters, Chapter XIV

My Haymitch,

I am so relieved to hear that you are alright and that you were far away from the shooting. I wish I could kill that man myself for even attempting to hurt you.

I want you to come home too. Only heaven knows I miss you. And I will keep myself protected - everyone has agreed to stay in District 12 together and wait it out until you get back and can fill us in, or Paylor delivers news.

Yes, Peeta got his gift. You're the only one that bought him a music tape - everyone got him paint sets and objects to help him with baking. How did you know to buy him music? Also, who is playing the piano on that tape? The melody is beautiful.

Still missing you,

Katniss

Sweetheart,

I played the piano on the tape, Paylor the violin on Track 5, and Effie played the cello on Track 12. My ma taught me piano when I was seven - my uncle was the Mayor at the time, so she'd always take me to go play the piano with my cousin. Apparently I had a natural talent for playing.

I knew because Peeta is an artist - any form of art that he gets, he will love. Artists are quite easy to buy for, sweetheart.

Do you really like it? If you want, I can play piano for you when I get home. You can sing, I can play. We'll be an all natural band.

I still miss you too,

Haymitch
