Digimon Revolt:

Summary- It has been three years since the warriors have returned from the digital world. None of the kids have fully recovered from what they have seen and are all the more freaked out when nightmares of the Digital World, both memories and unlived events invade their minds. Chapter 14: To Be a Warrior

XXXXX

I really had been hoping that Angemon and Angewomon were going to answer Tai's question with a simple "Nah, you guys don't need to help, enjoy being kids and prosper"… but of course they didn't, they just had to give us a "job".

"Hey Joe," a voice cackled in through the walkie-talkie he was holding, "anything on your end, over."

"Nope, over," Joe said dully, taking his hand off the button before whispering, "and I better not, I was supposed to be studying right now."

To be fair, I should have known that even if those stupid angels had said no, that Tai would have pushed and prodded until they gave in anyways. That stupid goggle-headed idiot doesn't know when to just quite it.

"Are you even looking? Over."

"Of course I'm looking Tai!"

"Just checking, over," Joe shut his eyes and tried taking deep breaths. Deep, calming, soothing...

"Oh, and don't forget to say over! Good luck! Over!" Joe's face visibly drooped as he stared in disbelief at his walkie.

Easy for him to say, he and Izzy get to lounge around in Izzy's room all day. Our little tech wiz is more than capable of manning the walkies' and the computer at the same time. Besides, he said his scanning program is almost up and running anyways, no reason for them both to just sit around once he's done.

"It hasn't even been 24 hours," Joe sighed into his hand as he walked through the area surrounding his school, "I doubt another portal is going to open so soon. Besides, why would Angewomon put us in charge of something so dangerous! Her and Angemon should have stayed here and looked themselves! It's not like we have anyone to back us up if more digimon come through…"

Joe stopped in the middle of the side walk, realizing he was delving back into his old, negative tendencies, "Gomamon would have a field day if he heard me now…"

But it's not like I don't have a reason though. The digital world is falling apart, again mind you, and we're stuck on Earth patrol. As if we're going to be any help to Gomamon, the rest of the digimon, and those other kids from here.

"Man," Joe sighed, turning a corner, "this really sucks."

The children were in various states of shock and amazement. Before them was a forest that seemed to go on forever. A forest though, that had a ceiling…

"Uh," Teruo began, as the group slowly followed elecmon through the vegetation, "how is it so bright in here, there…uh….w-well there appears to be no sky…."

"Just is," elecmon answered, "why is anything the way it is my boy? If the digital world wills it, then that's what it is."

"…"

"Well that was helpful," Chiaki chided quietly, stopping for a second to throw a pout elecmon's way and place her hands on her hips.

"This world sure is a weird one," Takuya said, throwing them a smile, "I would learn to expect the unexpected."

"This place isn't just unexpected," Teruo said bewildered, "it defies the basic laws of physics. How can this forest…I just…I-I don't get it!"

"I don't think physics work in the digital world," said Zoe in thought, "I mean, we were thrown onto the moon this one time but we were still able to breathe. Then we took a train from the moon to get back down to the digital world. I think that breaks at least four or five rules alone."

"B-but…that's impossible…"

Teruo stopped with a dropped jaw as the others passed him. Chiaki and Teppei had to turn back around to grab the boy so he wouldn't get left behind. After about ten or so more minutes of walking, Elecmon stopped the children at the edge of a clearing. Four pedestals were lined up before them, each possessing what appeared to be small, pure black statues. At the very back of the clearing was a plain, brown throne with none other than Wisemon sitting upon it. It took a few seconds for the original warriors to get over there shock before they swapped tentative hellos with their old acquaintance.

"…and welcome new warriors," the cloaked man said from his seat, "I hope this world has not caused you much trouble yet."

"Little too late," Katsuharu said under his breathe, earning a nervous look from Teppei.

"So…" Takuya began walking forward to look closer at the statues, vaguely recognizing there shapes, "why are you down here…in a forest…underneath primary villa-OW! Kouji!"

"That wasn't very tactful," the bandana-wearinng boy answered.

"Perfectly acceptable question," Wisemon said simply, earning a smirk from the goggle head, "I am in charge of protecting these spirits and the digimon who find refuge in these woods."

"I knew they looked familiar," said Takuya, looking back up at Wisemon, "but these aren't any of us originals' spirits are they."

"Quite observant child, you are correct in your assumptions. I was ordered by Ophanimon to protect the spirits who never found human hosts. I have been watching these four for some time now."

"These must be yours then," said Kouichi excitedly, "the warriors of wood, water, steel, and earth…"

"Yeah, uh-huh…" Chiaki said as Kouichi went off enthusiastically and in great detail about how the spirits work. Eventually, the brunette put up a hand up to stop him to say, "None of this makes any sense."

"They let us turn into digimon," Kouji said bluntly, causing Kouichi to pout.

"Like you and hot head?"

"Hey!"

"Yup, just like me and hot head."

"Kouji!"

"If you children are who you say you are, please walk closer to the pedestals, the spirits will activate, but only if they think you are worthy."

The four children stepped closer. The figure before Chiaki began to fade into a blue toned statue, revealing the human spirit of water. The statue before Teruo faded into the statue of a man with a mirror for a face; the spirit of steel. Teppei's was colared with shades of purple and brown and revealed the spirit of earth. Without knowing what they were doing, the three of them raised their D-tectors and watched as the spirits flew into them, the corresponding Kanji appearing on each screen.

Katsuharu's statue remained black. He waited and waited and waited until his frustration one over. When he turned around to see his friends staring at him with pity, he lost it, swinging out his hand to knock the statue off the podium.

"I guess you got the wrong person," Katsuharu said as he ran away into the forest, much to shock of the others.

"Katsuharu!" Teppei yelled, trying to run after his friend. Before he got anywhere though, JP's hand was on his shoulder and he was shaking his head at the younger boy.

"Give him a few minutes to cool off, we'll go after him if he doesn't come back soon."

Well, the group waited about 10 minutes or so, hoping he would come back, before they got worried (more like Teppei got antsy) and split up to find him. Nobody but wisemon seemed to notice the shining cracks forming in the fallen statue as the last few children ran into the forest.

"Well elecmon," Wisemon said, drawing his attention to the statue, "I think the spirit of wood thinks differently."

"Hm, guess it does."

"It's just up to him now…"

"Uh, hey boss."

"What!?"

"One of the devices is activating."

Piedmon practically flew down the halls to the lab. He had wanted the troopmon to activate all three of the devices, but he was actually glad they got one of them going, until he realized it wasn't them…

By the time Piedmon got down, the glass had cracked and the D-tector was on the verge of busting out of its container.

"What the hell is going on in here!?" he snarled at the short, grey digimon scattered around the room.

"We are unaware sir," one of them said from right next to the podium, "bu-"

Before the troopmon could finish speaking however, the device burst out of the glass and flew down the hallway. The troopmon just stood there as alarms began going off. Piedmon seethed in anger, amplified by the red light he was now basked in.

"Go after it!"

Takuya was panting. He had been running around, screaming Katsuharu's name for thirty minutes. At some point he had run into Kouichi and the two of them had stopped for a moment to take a rest, highly insisted by Kouichi.

"He looked upset," Kouichi said quietly, "and how are we going to find the tenth warrior if it's not him?"

"It's him," Takuya said, causing Kouichi to raise an eyebrow in response, "but he's been difficult since he got here, if he wants the spirit to react to him, his attitude needs to change. Let's start looking again."

"Ok."

Many of the others weren't fairing much better. Chiaki, bokomon, and neemon, were currently asking a group of baby and in-training digimon, having little luck with their limited speaking capabilities. Kouji had climbed a tree for a better view, Teruo and Tommy staying on the ground to look from there. Zoe had reluctantly let Teppei follow her as they looked for Katsuharu, one of them more enthusiastically than the other. And JP had simply wandered around for a while until he stumbled upon a small clearing surrounded by very familiar trees…

"What if we never find him!" Teppei wailed, sinking to his knees. The blonde just stared at him, still wondering how he could stand being around the older boy that much.

"I'm sure he's fine," she said as nicely as she could, albeit still standing a few feet away, "I really doubt he found his way out of here…"

"Why are you even helping us look?" Teppei asked, head snapping in her direction, "you hate him."

"Uh…" Zoe began, "hate is a strong word…"

But Zoe couldn't explain further as a loud "Damnit!" was heard far off in the distance. Before Zoe could even blink, Teppei had run off in its direction, screaming Katsuharu's name, and causing the blonde to throw a confused look around as she very obviously did not follow him.

"That was definitely Takuya," she said, shaking her head and walking in another direction, "Ugh, boys."

"What do you want us to do sir?"

The D-tector was well on its way across the dessert as Piedmon and Sealsdramon stood watching from there base. Piedmon's fists were clenched at his sides as he glared at the object before turning his gaze back on the lower level digimon.

"Follow it," he said, turning around to head back into the base, "and kill any human that gets in your way."

"Sir yes sir!" the metallic lizard said, jumping out of the exit.

"How big is this place!?" Zoe yelled in frustration as she sunk down against a tree.

"Pretty big," said a dejected voice from above her. She looked up in shock to see Katsuharu looking back at her, followed by a disappointed sigh as he began to climb down, "I haven't even tried to find my way back, wasn't worth it."

"Well you should have," she said loudly, standing up so she could face him, having to look up at the taller warrior, "we've been searching for you for over an hour. An hour we might not actually ha-!"

"Why didn't it glow?" he asked suddenly, simultaneously ignoring both Zoe's question and her wrath, "everyone else's did."

"You really want my opinion?" the blonde quirked. The older boy gave her a "yeah" in response, prompting her to continue, "You might want to sit down then."

Katsuharu did just that as he waited for the warrior to begin talking.

"When we first came to this world, we weren't handed our spirits on a silver platter-er-pedestal in this case. We had to search for them, fight off enemies, protect weaker digimon…we had to survive. By the time we each stumbled upon our spirits, we had earned them. We all came out of this world as better people becau-."

"But why didn't mine glow?"

"Cause you need to earn it!" she yelled glaring at him, "and you've been nothing but rude and skeptical since you got here!"

Before Katsuharu could respond, he felt something hit him on the back of his left shoulder, causing him to fall off the stump he had sat himself upon. The blonde's eye twitched as she looked down at the object.

"You guys really are being handed everything…" she said, picking up Katsuharu's D-tector, "now where the hell is JP's and mine?"

"How rich," said a mechanical voice from the shadows, "it would be you, haven't you caused enough trouble?"

"You've got to be kidding me," Katsuharu moaned as he watched his old captor walk out of a cluster of trees, stopping a mere five feet from the duo.

"Friend of yours?"

"Uh…friend is a strong word."

JP walked into the newly discovered clearing in awe. Flashbacks from their first adventure came to mind as he strode forward into the space. All around him were trees….with tv screens imbedded in them.

"Can't believe this place still exists," JP said quietly as he walked to the tree center back, "wonder if they still wo-"

"Heya JP!"

"AHH!" JP screamed as he jumped around to find Tommy, Kouji, and Teruo standing right behind him, "Seriously Tommy! You scared the crap out of me!"

"Sorry JP," Tommy said as he looked around at the trees, obviously not sorry at all, "wow, you think they still work?"

"That's what I would like to know," JP said, turning back around to the tree he had been looking at, "I only got here a few minutes ago myself."

"Shouldn't we be looking for Katsuharu," said Teruo calmly as he walked up next to JP, "He's still missing."

"Yeah," JP agreed, turning around to lead the others out of the clearing, "I thi-"

"Hey Tai, I think I got something!"

"Really!? Is it Gennai?"

"I don't think so…"

"Uh…anyone else hear disembodied voices?" JP asked nervously.

"Try looking behind you."

Tommy, Teruo, and JP followed Kouji's finger and stared in disbelief. What had once been nothing but static had turned into a fuzzy image of red head and a bushy brunette. The two kids were staring back in just as much disbelief. That is, until the brunette decided to speak up…

"Uh…hey Tommy…"

"U-um, hello…"

XXXXX

"So this guy…"

"Yup, and he followed us all the way from…"

"Sure looks like it…"

"Surprised to see me children?" the digimon's mouth didn't move, but his words held a heavy smirk behind them as he began to circle his prey, warily eyeing the device in the girls hand before jumping at the two in a quick attack, forcing them to jump apart. Sealsdramon immediately turned his attention to the blonde and began to run after her.

Taking this as a cue, Zoe ran into the woods. Katsuharu could barely see this all happen behind the cloud of dust Sealsdramon had drew up and was trying to cough up everything he breathed in as he heard footsteps behind him. Looking behind him, he saw his life flash before his eyes as he not only saw an angry Takuya, but a very rare, angry Kouichi as well.

"We should go after them," he said nervously.

"Yeah," Takuya said, already starting to sprint after them.

"How much did you see?" Katsuharu asked as Kouichi helped him up, roughly at least.

"Enough to see that wasn't her D-tector," he said walking past him, "was it?"

As the three of them chased after the duo, the cracks in the forgotten statue began to increase. Wisemon and elecmon looked on with excitement. Wisemon was fully aware of the champion's presence, but arbormon would be more than capable of defeating him once the time came.

XXXXX

"So Tommy," JP said in bewilderment, "who's your friend?"

"You know how elecmon went off about those other kids TK and Kari, right?"

"Wait! What about Kari!?"

"That's her brother…"

"Tai calm down!"

"You play soccer with Takuya," Kouji said matter-of-factly, "pretty sure you're in the same class too."

"Uh yeah…do I know you?"

"He's a good friend of Takuya and me," Tommy answered for the brunette while he watched the red head's hands type away on a key board, "So, how did you guys connect to the tree?

The red head paused in his typing and stared quizzically at the young boy. His eyes shifted between the four warriors before looking past them and at the scenic view behind them. Before the red head could question what the ice warrior had meant however, a loud noise was heard off in the distance.

"Think they found Katsuharu?" JP questioned.

"More like something found one of us," Kouji answered, "I'll go check it out."

"Me too," answered Teruo, "I'm worried…"

"Yeah sure, whatever," JP said in response, still amazed at the fact they were somehow connected with their world right now.

"So, what do you mean by 'connected to the tree'?"

"Uh…" Tommy and JP just looked at each other, neither really knowing how to answer the red head's question.

Zoe was only able to run for about a minute or two before she was dodging Sealsdramon's "Death Behind!" attack. She managed to doge to the left but was dumbstruck as she watched the tree she had just been in front of split straight down the middle as Sealsdramon looked at her through the kicked up dirt.

"Just give me the device child," he said threatingly, charging up another attack, "or next time I won't miss!"

The lizard digimon swung around and slammed the poor girl with his tail, knocking her into a tree a few feet back. She crumpled to the ground, looking up in time to watch the metallic digimon stalk towards her. Before anything could be done though, a branch snapped over the back of his head, angering him, and forcing his attention to the brunette behind him.

"That…" Takuya began, dropping the splintered wood, "could have been thought out more."

Behind Takuya stood Kouichi as he sweat dropped at his leader. Katsuharu stood a bit further back, staring at the blonde with a horrified expression on his face before quickly rushing forward, waving his hands in her direction.

"Throw it here blondie!" he shouted, earning a grunt from said blonde, who threw him over his D-tector, "this here device is mine lizard breath, you want it, you got to take it from me!"

"With pleasure."

Before anything more could be done however, Katsuharu's D-tector began to glow. The warriors stared in awe as Sealsdramon began to growl and walk towards him. Within a few seconds, a glowing orb had zoomed in front of Katsuharu, revealing itself to be the spirit of wood. The boy stood in shock, staring at the object as it flew into his device.

"It's time I earned my keep," Katsuharu said, raising his left hand, "EXECUTE…"

"SPIRIT EVOLUTION!"

XXXXX

"…and…nope, I actually think that about covers it," the warrior of thunder said, holding his chin up with one hand, a look of concentration etched onto his face, "we leaving anything else out Tommy?"

Just then, another loud noise went off in the distance, "just that we might be under attack right now…"

"You guys are aware of how much everyone is freaking out over your disappearances, correct?"

"Unfortunately, we are," JP answered, "but like I said, we have a job to do here, and you guys seem to have one there."

"Yeah," Tai piped up from behind the red head, having just finished up a conversation over a walkie-talkie "and it seems we've also been called into action. Izzy, that was Kari."

"TK and Joe should be closest to her location," the genius said, "send them over."

"Sure thing Einstein."

JP stared at the two as they conversed. He was still in a little shock over what the red head had told him. Portals were threatening to open up into the real world right now. In fact, a few digimon, good and bad, had already gotten through. The warriors should be grateful there were more kids like them. There is no way they could have split themselves up between the two worlds right now, especially when almost half of them had no idea what was going on.

"Hey Izzy?" Tommy asked, "did ophanimon tell you all this?"

"Huh?" the computer whiz questioned, "of course not, we were told she fell."

"But we just talked to her before we were sent out, right JP?"

"Kid," JP said putting his hand the shorter boy's shoulder, "that wasn't our Ophanimon."

XXXXX

"ARBORMON!"

"Damn it," Sealsdramon cussed, "Piedmon is going to have my head."

"Then he's gunna hafta fight me for it, Roundhouse punt!" the wooden warrior yelled out, swing his body around as he right leg flew out and hit sealsdramon square in the chest, sending him straight into the split-up tree, further wrecking it, "Now, here's the thing pal, I didn't quite appreciate you kidnapping me."

Sealsdramon stood up and rushed at Arbormon, head butting the warrior in the chest. Arbormon barely stumbled and wrapped his arms around the lizard, flinging him into another tree as he unleashed the same attack as before. Around this time, Takuya and Kouichi could be seen helping Zoe in the background as the girl watched the battle attentively.

"Death Behind!"

"Blockade Seed!"

Before the lizard's attack could hit, a large seed-like bomb flew out of Arbormon's chest, striking Sealsdramon mid strike. When the dust cleared, Sealsdramon was barely standing. Scratches covered his body and he began to sway on the spot before collapsing. Arbormon strode forward and, with one last "Roundhouse Punt!" forced the evil digimon's fractal code to appear around his blacked out form.

"Hate is a strong word," Arbormon said as his D-tector appeared in his hand, "which makes it quite fitting here. Fractal code…DIGITIZE!"

Sealsdramon's form disappeared as his dats flew into Katsuharu's d-tector. A digi egg was left floating in its place for a few seconds before falling back to the ground. As Katsuharu returned to normal, he sunk to his knees in exhaustion, staring at the metallic, scale printed, egg.

"How often you guys gotta do that?"

"Often," Kouichi said smirking as he Takuya and Zoe joined the tired warrior.

"You know," Zoe said, still being held up by the two warriors, "I'm really getting tired of being a human punching bag."

"Yeah, you should probably stop that," Kouji spoke up, earning himself a glare as he and Teruo walked out into the clearing, "not bad new kid."

"Glad to see you're alright Katsuharu," Teruo said as he approached his friend, "we saw most of that fight, can't believe that wooden soldier was you."

"Me either pal."

"Hey guys," a voice spoke up from the gang's digivices, "I think you should all come see this!"

"JP? Where are you ?" Takuya asked, right as a map popped up from his D-tector, "uh, never mind, we're coming. You ok to walk Z?"

"I'll manage."

"OK then, let's go!"

XXXXX

"I think he earned his spirit Elecmon."

"I think he has as well," the red digimon said, "still don't like him much though."

Well, hello there…

All I can say is that I have been obscenely busy between school, work, and my own personal health. This story has not left my thoughts though. That being said…

I hope people are still interested in this story, I know I am! I would never want to put out material that I wouldn't want to read myself and I hope you guys are enjoying it!

Things are finally starting to get interesting here as the two teams finally cross paths! And yes, JP did catch Izzy up to speed, but everything he told Izzy was stuff you guys already knew so it would have just been boring to read all over again.

I am excited to finally put some action in here but poor Zoe, why can't she just catch a break? And now Katsuharu can digivolve? Also, how does JP know that wasn't the real Ophanimon? Guess you're just gunna have to follow along with this story.

And as always…

…stay prodigious my friends.
