You guys probably hate me for not posting for almost two years… But that's okay. Love you guys, too. Hope you'll forgive me, and enjoy!
Hit the Ground Running
Chapter 14: Spirit World…
Master Splinter's POV
(Time skip…)
"Bye, guys! Be careful! I love ya!" Kairoana said, giving Leonardo a bear hug. I smiled softly as Leonardo returned her hug and planted a soft kiss on her head. "Promise to call if anything happens, okay?" Leonardo: my protective, young, leader. "Yes, Leo, for the ten millionth time today, I promise." She said as the hug ended. "Do you remember the plan, my son?" I asked Leonardo. "Hai, Sensei. We go to Japan while Kai finishes the last five weeks of school. I spend a week in Japan, hitch a ride on a cargo ship back to New York, grab Kai, and we both go to Japan and meet up at the Ancient One's home." Leonardo recited our plans to go visit the Ancient One and Kairoana's schooling. Nodding, I turned to Kairoana. "Stay safe, young one." I smiled as Kairoana bowed. "Hai, Sensei. I love you, father. Safe travels." She said as we hugged.
Raph's POV
As we waited for the crew members to clear off, I took Kai aside while th' othas were busy. "Look, Kai… I… Uh…" I paused and looked at my baby sista, and before I knew it, I had wrapped Kai up in a protective hug. "Be careful, okay? If anything happens, call us and then April or Case, alright?" Kai hugged me back, burying her face gently in my arms and plastron. "I will Promise you guys'll call when you get there?" she asked, glancing up and searching my eyes. Smiling down at her, I nodded. We separated as te guys started over to us. "Ready to head out?" Leo asked me. I nodded. "Alright. The deck is clear. Kai, be safe, okay?" "Got it, Leo." Kai said, giving everyone a last good-bye hug. We then all snuck on the cargo ship, gave Kai a wave, and went below deck to hide.
Normal POV
(One week later…)
As I walked through the hall, I texted Mikey.
Me: Hey, how's the trip going?
Mikey: Hey, brodette! :D it's okay, still getting used to all the swaying and being cooped up, but we're good. :) how's school?
I quickly slipped my phone in my pocket as I heard someone approaching from behind. "Kai, Kai, Kai." I rolled my eyes and continued walking as Jay, a snobby soccer player, began walking in step with me. "How 'bout we go to a movies tonight, babe?" He put an arm over my shoulders. "How 'bout no?" I replied icily, pushing his arm off. "Don't be like that, babe, it'll be fun. We don't have to actually watch a dumb film, we could do somethin' better while it's dark." He said, grabbing my wrist and stopping. I stopped and gave him a deep glare. "Let go, now." I said, my voice lowered and gaze colder. "Or what, baby-cakes?" Gave him a fair warning. I twisted my wrist so I could grip his, yanking him forcefully towards me. As he fell towards me, I sucker punched him in between his eyes and gave a slightly amused smirk as he fell to the ground, moaning and holding his head. Kneeling down, I lifted his chin so he could look at me. "That was fun. We should do this more often." I said mockingly. As I stood and began walking away, I stopped and turned. "Oh, and don't call me 'babe'. I'm waaayy to classy for that, dipstick." He was still moaning, embarrassed and in pain, and all in front of everyone and their mother. That's how I spell 'rejected'. I pulled out my phone as I exited the school.
Me: Sorry, had to deal with Jay. School's alright, I guess…
Mikey: That jerk again? Geez. Whoops! Gotta split, security guards. Txt ya later, though!
Me: 'Kay, be safe and be careful!
Sliding my phone back in my pocket, I sighed. I miss them… A lot…
Three weeks later…
Weeks passed and things were pretty much the same. Got to school, go home, eat, train, patrol, go home, got to bed, spit, rinse, repeat. Well, at least this is the last day of school… Then it's just another week 'til Leo gets here.
After school, I met up with April and Casey. "Phew… So glad finals are done." Casey said, putting his backpack on. "They probably would've been easier if you had, I don't know, STUDIED?!" April half snapped at him. "Woah there, Red. No worries. It's done." "Kai, how do you think you did?" April asked as we walked down seventy-fifth. "Good enough to pass with a 'B'" I said relieved. "That's good." Casey said, nodding. "I think so." I said, shrugging. "You guys have plans for the summer break?" I asked. "Yhea, we're goin' to my Grandparent's cabin. You're welcome to join us, Kai." Casey offered with a smile. "Thanks for the invite, but Leo's going to be back in about a week to pick me up for Japan." "Ah, cool! You actually get to go to Japan?" April asked excitedly. Smiling, I nodded. "Yhea, and I also will get to meet Master Yoshi's master and train under him for a few weeks." I said happily. "Awesome, dude!" Casey exclaimed. "Right?" I said, excited. "Well, I hope you guys have a blast." April said, smiling. "Will do. You, too, okay? I'll bring souvenirs." I replied as we went our separate ways. "Sure thing. Have a good trip, and be safe!" I waved as April and Casey headed off.
When I got to the lair, I put my stuff down and activated the blue tooth speakers with my iPod and got ready to make some food. I made my own little pizza and turned on the TVs to watch the news for weather, pulling out my phone to text Leo.
Me: Hey, Leo
Leo: Hey, what's up? Everything okay?
Me: Yhea, just watching the weather channel. How's the trip?
Leo: It's going okay. We may be a day or two behind schedule due to weather. It's been pretty brutal these past few days.
Me: Dang… Well, stay safe, okay?
Leo: 'Kay, will do. You, too. Gunna catch some Z's while the waves are calm. Luv ya
Me: Sleep well, bro. Love you 2
(AN: There's about 14 hour's difference between New York and Japan)
After I was done eating, I cleaned up and got ready to go out on patrol. I called Casey when I was suited up. "Hello?" "Hey, Case, you and April coming on patrol, or are you two headin' out tonight?" I asked. "Sorry, Kai, we're splittin' tonight." "That's cool, just thought I'd triple check. Drive safe." "Yhea, I got you. Well, keep safe, and rock on. We'll probably have some pretty bad service out there, so if we don't pick up, it's probably that. We're not ignoring you, cool?" Casey informed me. "Got it. Sounds good. Have a safe trip. I'm out." "Catch'a later."
I hung up and headed out, locking up the lair after me.
When I surfaced, I breathed in the fresher air and calmed myself. Going out on patrol by myself was kind of unnerving. I can do this… It's fine… We're aaaalll good. I got to the rooftops and ran the normal routine, checking up on the trouble makers and making sure things weren't crazy. Well, nothing to write home about… It's getting late… Maybe I'll— I froze in the shadows as I spotted something below. Foot Soldiers… Weird… What're they carrying? I pulled out my phone and snapped a few pictures, watching as they left. I should check that out… But I'm not prepared for that… Hmm… I waited for a long time, almost an hour for any sign of movement. When nothing happened, I cautiously made my way down to where I had seen the Foot Soldiers. When I got there, it was empty, nothing out of the norm. What the heck?… I kept searching, but eventually gave up for the night. I couldn't find anything. When I got back to the lair, I made sure all security systems were up and running, including the extras. I was, to say the least, on edge. Gotta chill… Gotta calm the heck down… "What would Leo do?" I stopped and thought. He'd meditate and then decide what to do. I brewed some tea and went to the dojo, taking a seat in front of the tree. Calm thoughts… Blank thoughts… Calm… Be calm… I SAID BE CALM. WHY can't I focus?… I opened my eyes and raised my eyebrow. "'Kay, I'm just crazy. It's fine." I rolled my eyes and took a sip of my tea, calming my racing mind as well as I could. Leo can communicate with Sensei through meditation… I guess I'll try to reach him…
I focused on Master Splinter as hard as I could, repeating 'Master, I need your help' in my mind.
Master…
Master Splinter…
I need your help…
Master Splinter's POV
"Who's there?"
"Master Splinter, I need your help…"
"Kairoana? Can you hear me?"
"Hai… Sensei. But it's… Really… Hard…"
"What troubles you, my daughter?"
Master, it's the—"
…
…
"Kairoana, are you there?"
"Mast… I can't keep…draining me too much. The Foot…something going…"
"Kairoana, my daughter, try to hold your focus."
"…aster, I…help…"
"Kairoana!" I awake, quickly sitting up. Running footsteps were soon heard, shortly followed by my shijo screen being opened quickly by Raphael.
"Sensei, what's wrong? What happened?" Raphael asked, looking around for a disturbance. Donatello and Michelangelo followed Raphael's example.
"My sons, Kairoana attempted to contact through the spirit world… There is something… Not right." I sensed my daughter would soon need aid, sooner than Leonardo could arrive.
