Dreaming of Nightmares: The 525th Hunger Games
Chapter Fourteen: Colors
Aqua stared as the scientists all conversed together. She was curious as to what they were talking about, and more so, what they planned on doing. It was obvious something was going on, why else would they all be down there?
"Hello, tributes!" a loud voice said, catching Aqua's attention. "As you know, the results of your training sessions will be made available to you via television later. So, we will try and keep this as short and sweet as possible." the other scientists continued to mumble among themselves.
"Well, we can't tell you what is going on. However, we can tell you that we have syringes full of a concoction made by these talented doctors." automatically the scientists or doctors walked in front of the tributes.
A female scientist gave an eerie smile. "Each one of these concoctions it specifically engineered for you. And don't worry, tributes. It's perfectly safe, we tested it." she said still smiling.
"I don't want it!" a shrill voice said. Aqua looked inconspicuously down the line and recognized the district 7 tribute. He seemed out of sorts.
The scientist's grin just grew sharklike. "I'm afraid you don't have a choice. It's one of the perks that comes with the honor of participating in the games."
"This isn't an honor, you wench!"
"Shut up!" Eleanor hissed.
"You shut up, you wannabe career!" Lese shot back.
"Restrain him." the scientist ordered with a sigh.
Aqua just watched as two burly peacekeepers grabbed the twig like boy by the arms and dragged him off as he droned on.
"I'm sure many of you think that was unnecessary, but I can assure you it was. We want this process to go as smoothly as possible and he was bound to disrupt that."
"Are you gonna kill him?" the girl from district 10 asked curiously. Aqua felt uncomfortable, which was odd to her. This little girl was nothing but a bloodbath casualty, so why would she feel like this?
The scientist chuckled. "No, no. That's for one of you to do when the games start."
"Oh." the girl replied, seemingly disappointed.
"Anyway, we will now start." the scientist gave a gesture and three avoxes carrying metal tins with syringes appeared. The other scientists then did as expected and got a syringe, read the label and headed to assigned tribute.
When they got to Aqua, she, oddly enough, held out her arm. The scientist seemed unnerved and intimidated, which was expected. She was very intimidating and she knew it. The scientist tied a rubber ribbon around her elbow so the vein was easier to get to. He place the needle in her arm and soon was injecting her with the mixture.
Aqua watched with both fascination and horror as a black, tar like substance visibly moved up her vein. It burned slightly and she wanted to scratch at it. "This will take 24 hours to activate." he said, cleaning where the needle was with alcohol. "If it bruises or hurts to move, tell your escort and we will do something about it."
Aqua responded with a small smirk.
Eleanor watched the other tributes as they got injected, and she couldn't help but notice how everyone had different colors. The district 6 girl, Rowena, was distributed a gray looking one. The boy from 8, Wivellatro, got a reddish green-yellow looking one.
Hers... was a pastel purple.
It was strange to watch it as it traveled up her arm. The color was so vibrant against her skin.
Once they were done she followed her escort who had stayed with them. Surprisingly, even with his odd smile, he looked worried. She thought it had to do with Lese but she couldn't be sure. Personally, she couldn't care less.
Eleanor gave a small sigh and walked over to her escort before awkwardly placing a hand on his shoulder. "He'll be okay."
"I know." he replied sullenly. The shock on her face was evident. He never talked like this or sounded like this. Collecting herself she removed her hand.
"Alright."
"They will be on soon." Bronze told Bianca, who tried asking the escort.
"I didn't ask you." she said bluntly, rolling her eyes.
"But you still asked, and I answered."
"Whatever."
Bronze just gave a sad sigh and headed to his room. He didn't really want to talk to anybody at the moment, he was too busy thinking about other things. Mostly the brown substance coursing through his body.
As always he listened very carefully. The scientist administrating it to him told him it may hurt a bit afterword and to tell his escort if so. And that was it. Nothing more from anyone. He didn't know how else to describe this feeling aside from disappointed.
As he laid down on his extremely comfortable mattress, he could only wonder what Blade was thinking. Was his mentor secretly proud? It was true that his mentor wanted him to wait three more years, but he couldn't. It wasn't right to him.
He hoped Blade was. He didn't know what he'd do if Blade was disappointed.
Grabbing the nearby remote he pressed a few buttons, changing the walls of his room to a place similar to the training room. It made him feel more at ease, but he couldn't help but worry.
I know this isn't reactions to training scores but I really wanted to get something out. It's been so long, which I sincerely apologize for. I know the quality of it isn't the best either. I've been trying to get... huh. I guess my life? In order. Still working on that, but overall we are good. :)
I'd like to thank those who stayed with me even though I take forever, I really can't thank you enough. It means a lot, honestly.
I'd also like to ask the submitter of Bianca Vance to resubmit. For some reason I cannot find the form at all :( I'd greatly appreciate it, thank you. Also I'm sorry about losing it ;-;
Questions!
1. What do you think the concoctions/whatever you wish to call it will do?
2. Do you think the color has any significance?
Please do review, heh c: It shows people are still interested.
Rip me.
