Short Moments
-Why Help Her Out-
Agura was rolled up in a ball on the couch in a ratty old t-shirt. Her stomach felt like it was in knots. Her head was pounding and muscles ached, even after taking medicine.
Vert noticed her in pain, but when he walked over to see what was the matter, she pushed him away.
"Hey guys. I need your help."
Vert said to the fellow boys of the team who were in the kitchen.
"Sure Vert. What do you need?"
AJ asked with a smile.
"Agura's not feeling to good. So I want us to help her get better."
"Why should we?"
Stanford said annoyed by the request.
"Yea. I don't want to catch whatever she has."
Spinner crossed his arms and admitted to the group.
"I don't think we can get what she's going through. Besides, she was there for us when we were all sick or hurting."
Vert reminded them.
Everyone looked around at one another trying to think back. Vert was the first to bring back those memories.
"Zoom, when you were hit with Hatch's laughing gas, who stayed in the infirmary with you hours after we all left, to make sure you were getting better?"
Zoom laughed a little.
"Agura."
"Sherman, when you caught that stomach virus, who took care of you and drove the Buster with Spinner when we were out on missions without you?"
"Agura."
Sherman admitted.
"Tezz, who helped you get used to eating normal food by making you special meals after eating whatever you could find on that moon?"
"Agura did."
"AJ, when you got sick from staying outside too long in the heat and sun, who drove out of town to get you water, ice and Popsicles?"
"I don't think I would have gotten through that without Agura's help."
AJ said while wiping his forehead.
"Spinner, when you started getting those migraines, wasn't it Agura who helped you get the medicine you needed to get through them?"
Spinner smiled.
"Yup. Her and Sherman. The real life savers of the team."
"And Stanford. When Grace turned you down for a date and then started flirting with your brother, who was there for you to talk to and who won't judge you?"
"I maybe talked to Agura about that a little."
Stanford barley willingly admitted.
"Than I guess we all have a reason to help her out."
Each of the boys smiled and left the room to get things that they thought would help Agura. Little did they know, she felt much better just by listening into what they were saying.
-The Movie He Found Online-
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
The movie BF5 was watching was about a haunted house whose spirits attached themselves to a little girl who lived in there for a short time and followed her for the rest of her life.
Spinner stumbled across the movie online while searching the web and rented it. After seeing the title Wander With Her, everyone else thought it would be cheesy and just plan not scary. But not even half way through the movie, the teens were hiding behind pillows, blankets and each other.
On the flat screen, the main character was trapped in a hotel bathroom by one of the spirits who followed her. Red coloring and flashing lead to seeing the white face of the spirit, who grabbed the girl.
The Hub was filled with screams. Even Tezz was scared. AJ, Sherman and Spinner were watching from the floor, sharing a giant blanket to hide behind. Tezz and Stanford got their own separate chairs. Stanford was holding his teddy bear, while Tezz was holding his knees up to his face. Vert and Agura were on one side of the coach and Zoom was alone on the other. Agura was scared enough to hold onto Vert during really scary points of the movie, without even realizing it. Zoom had his face semi-smashed in his own pillow which had the sent of his shampoo, which he had to admit help calm his fears.
In the movie, the spirits started to attack people who were close to the girl, including her parents, boyfriend and roommates.
Everyone was looking away and letting out small screams and comments, like Stanford's 'Don't go down the long, dark ally you f'ing idiot!', AJ's 'She's gonna die. She gonna die. She's gonna die!' and Spinner's WTFs.
Two and a half hours went by and the movie finally ended. For a team that had faced mutant animals, killer robots, dueling alien species and anti-themselves, this movie shouldn't have made a lasting impact, but it did. So for the next few days in the Hub, lights were kept on, nobody got any sleep, people walked down the halls in pairs and even went to the bathroom like that sometimes.
-Unusual Friends-
"Alright Agura. Truth or Dare?"
"That's a tough one. Truth."
"Out of all the guys you work with, which one would you sleep with?"
Agura spit some of her drink out.
Agura and Grace weren't close friends, but when a certain substance got involved, the two became good friends. The diner was closed for the night, so the girls had the whole place to themselves.
"Well let's see. Sherman is really sweet and muscular. AJ is fun and even more muscular. Tezz has the height but he's so...Tezz. Spinner, haha, no. Zoom is such a kid, though it would be fun to get with a ninja. Vert is the hottest, and sweetest, and leaderest. But than Stanford is almost the same but unexpected."
Agura laughed.
"I'm going to have to say Vert."
Grace glared at her.
"How expected."
They each took another sip of their drinks.
"So Grace?"
"Um."
"Truth or dare?"
"Dare."
Agura laughed without even saying a word as she got her idea.
Back at the Hub, the boys were in the kitchen doing absolutely nothing.
"I'm so bored."
"I'm so bored."
"Spinner stop copying me."
"Spinner stop copying me."
AJ chucked a soda can at his mimicker.
"Well chaps, not that this isn't fun and all, but I better head up to bed to get my beauty rest."
Stanford said yawning and walking towards the door.
"Hold up Stanford."
"Grace."
Grace and Agura tumbled in. The guys immediately thought that the girls were drunk, which they were correct.
"Are you two feeling okay?"
Vert asked concerned.
"Of course Vert. Why won't we be?"
Agura said still laughing historically from before.
"Because you're drunk."
Zoom stated bluntly.
"So guys. I'm going to make you an offer because I was dared by this girl over her. I'll get on this table and dance for you, if each of you pay me fifty bucks."
Their jaws dropped to the floor. All the guys left the room, leaving Agura and Grace alone.
But one by one, they came back with money in hand. Grace took all the cash and climbed up on the table. Stanford brought in a boom box and blasted it. Grace began dancing for the guys, slowly sliding off articles of clothes.
Agura took a head count and realized that there was two head missing. The huntress walked up stairs in search for her prey.
She looked inside the Cortez to find a sleeping Spinner. Agura rolled her eyes and set off to find the master of stealth.
Zoom was cleaning the floor of his room as Agura walked in.
"What are you doin' up here all by ear lonesome?"
Zoom could tell the Agura was really drunk. Three or more drinks he guessed she had have.
"Agura, you should probably go to bed. You're going to have a bad hang-over tomorrow morning."
"I thought you would bez one of the first to see Grace?"
"To tell the truth, back in the order, I was always taught to keep my virginity and not get hooked on stuff like that."
Agura walked closer to Zoom. Close enough that he could smell the alcohol on her breath.
"You mean stuff like this?"
She smashed her lips on the Thai boy's own. Agura wrapped her hands around the back of his neck, not letting her prey escape. Zoom originally tried to push her away, but found that his hands went exploring down Agura's body. The hands of a fighter felt great on her body.
He snapped out of it and Zoom pushed her away for real this time. Agura rubbed her temples and walked out if the room.
The next day, Zoom's prediction was right.
"Oh damn my head."
Agura complained.
"Maybe you should think next time you start drinking Agura."
Vert said trying to keep a stern look on his face, but let a smile free.
"I'll just borrow that thing Stanford uses to get through these. Where is that Brit anyway?"
"I saw him take Grace to his room."
Tezz said walking in.
-Not the Same Open Mic-
It was open mic night at the diner, but not the one held before. No, this one wasn't about jokes, but for singers who wanted to make their great debuts. All the seats were taken and some even chose to sit on the floor or on the counters. Even Sheriff Johnson came. The lights were also dimmed so that the only light you could truly see was the spot light focused on the performer.
Battle Force 5 occupied their usually booth, but were sitting together closely because of the size of the crowd. At first it was a debate to whether or not the would end up going, but in the end they all agreed to go.
The female on the mic was singing a slow version of Firework by Katy Perry. After she finished, the girl blushed and walked off the stage. Zeke stepped on.
"Alright ladies and gentlemen. It looks like that was the last signer of the night."
"I don't think so!"
A voice shouted from the crowd.
"I think that guy who told the best jokes at the comedian open mic should sing a song!"
The voice belonged to Spinner Cortez.
"What a great idea."
Zeke said into the mic.
Zoom slid down in his seat and under the table, trying not to be noticed. Everyone knew and agreed Zoom was was of the best at the earlier open mic.
"Come on up Zoom."
Clapping and chanting started in the diner.
Zoom! Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!
The Thai boy stood up and walked over to the stage, with everyone cheering him on.
"Good luck, kid."
Spinner said as Zoom took the stage. It was obvious to the team that this was Spinner's way of revenge after what happened, Zoom stealing the laughs from Spinner and all.
Zoom took the mic and whispered into Zeke's ear the song he wanted to sing. The old man nodded. Music poured out of the speakers as Zoom took a breath in and let the words flow out.
Today was gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you've got to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
The crowd was hooked on Zoom's deep and pure voice that filled the diner. No one knew he could actually sing let alone that well.
Backbeat the word is on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
And I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now
And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
But I don't know how
Zoom winked at a group of girls sitting near the counter and they all start smiling and jump around a little.
So I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall
Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you've got to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
Zoom looks over at his team with their jaws on the floor, especially Spinners.
And all the roads we had to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
I don't know how
So I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me?
And after all...
You're my wonderwall
Zoom held out the note and sung the ending lines with passion.
So I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all...
You're my wonderwall
So I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all...
You're my wonderwall
Said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
Wonderwall by Oasis
The crowd goes crazy. They stand up and cheer for the kid who showed everybody up, again. Zoom gave the mic back to Zeke and headed back to the team with a smile on his face.
"Give it up for Zoom!"
Zeke said to the crowd.
"Zoom will you ever seek to amaze us?"
Vert said as Zoom took his seat.
"Maybe. But for now, if anyone wants to get revenge on me for something, I'd suggest using something you know I hate or suck at."
Everyone laughed at Zoom's remark while looking at Spinner.
"You just wait Thai boy, I'll get you someday and your little dog too!"
"But I don't have a dog."
The whole team laughed the night away. Little did they know, Zoom would be woken up extra early by a bucket of ice water falling on his head.
-SNOW-
"It's sooo hot!"
AJ exclaimed from the garage so that everyone could hear it. It was nearly one hundred degrees outside and his Canadian blood was not taking it well.
AJ, Zoom, Sherman and Spinner were in the garage, fixing their rides from their latest battle with Krytus and his team.
"Guess you just have to suck it up AJ."
Zoom said smiling, feeling at home in the heat.
"You don't understand my pain! Seventy is hot for me. Uh...I think I'm going to die!"
"I would suggest taking the ice zone battle keys and staying there for the next week, but that would but Earth endangered of being captured and Sage being destroyed by the red sentients."
Sherman reminded AJ.
"Attention Battle Fore 5! It is an emergency! A portal has opened to an unknown battle zone. If the red sentient find it they could invade Earth. Close the portal immediately."
Sage said over intercom.
All the boys in the garage got in their vehicles and rode off to the portal opening.
"What the?"
Spinner said as the four of them got to the portal.
"Zoom, close the portal!"
Sherman commanded. Zoom reached out and the portal closed, but didn't take what it left behind.
"It can't be."
"It's SNOW!"
AJ screamed jumping out of the GearSlammer and started doing snow angels.
"It must have been an icy battle zone for so much snow to fall through the portal."
Sherman was right. Four building sized mountains of snow, covered the burning desert and didn't want to melt anytime soon.
"We should probably get rid of this before someone sees all of this."
Spinner shouted out his idea.
"Absolutely NO! This is the best thing that ever happened to me! I'm home!"
AJ screamed with a wide smile on his face.
"It's far enough away from the town, where no one would bother going in this heat. Just let it melt on it's own. Maybe we could build a snowman?"
Sherman asked his brother in back.
"A giant snowman? If that's the case I'm in."
"I'm not I'll be back at the Hub if anyone needs to bother me."
Said by a shivering Zoom who fled the scene.
The Cortez bros got out of the Buster and joined AJ in the new winter wonderland.
Back at the Hub, Zoom told everyone about the giant piles of snow in the middle of the desert. But to his dismay, everyone raced to the snow to cool down in the ever rising temperature.
The snow from the multiverse was played in by BF5 all day. Sherman and Spinner built a snowman almost eight feet tall. Tezz and Stanford climbed up the giant snow piles and raced each other down. Vert was building a snow-fort on one side, while Agura and Zoom built one on the other. AJ, however just buried himself in the snow and took a nap.
It was getting dark and the snow finally began to melt. But not fast enough to stop Battle Force 5 from having an all out snowball fight.
AN: Opening Challenge is cancelled. Next chapter, maybe the last, I'm thinking of an ask a question and you'll receive the truth, the whole truth (basically a Q&A chapter). The questions could be for any or all of the characters seen on Battle Force 5, maybe even me, your author, if you wanted to. Please leave responses in reviews. Thanks!
