It didn't take Sesshomaru long to know where Rin went. What was she thinking? How did she think marrying that stupid wolf would be of any use at all?
"Sesshomaru! Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha yelled, running wildly at him with Kagome in tow. "Jaken found Rin!"
It had been decided that Jaken should look for her, considering Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were being hunted, and Jaken was much smaller, and thus could conceal himself easier. At least, that's what he told them, the real reason is that he needed time to formulate a decent plan.
"Where is she?"
"She's with Ginta, milord!" Jaken piped up, giving the small child a glare for stealing his thunder.
"What are we going to dooooo, Lord Sesshomaru?! We have to save herrrrrr!" Kagome said, dramatically.
"She ran off all by herself, so it's not Lord Sesshomaru's job to save the stupid girl," Jaken said, confident his master would finally agree with him.
"But-" Kagome and Inuyasha said in unison before being cut off.
'Jaken."
"Yes, milord?"
"Where are they?"
"Surely you don't mean to-" Jaken huffed before remembering his place. "They are in a camp at the East gate."
Sesshomaru said nothing else as he went that direction. His plan was to, in fact, save her, but only to scold her himself, that's what he told himself, but he wasn't entirely sure that was the only reason.
It took only two hours to reach their destination. In that time he had formulated a plan. It was sketchy, but it would do. Jaken was to lead the warriors on a hunt, and while he kept them occupied, Sesshomaru would grab Rin. The only flaw was what to do with the two children in his care. He couldn't leave them unprotected in the woods, but he also couldn't let them help Jaken, that would be far too dangerous. They would have no choice, but to come with him to get Rin. In fact, having them there might make it easier. With that final thought, they set their plan in motion.
"I know where the Lord of the West is hiding! I know where Lord Sesshomaru is!" Jaken yelled, running around like a madman. "Follow me! Follow me!"
"Aren't you his servant?" questioned one of the warriors.
Jaken scoffed, "Lord Sesshomaru has mistreated me for the last time! I will not stand for humans being treated far better than I!"
Sesshomaru smirked, thinking Jaken was enjoying this a little too much. He turned to his mini companions. "Now, you are both to remain silent. Do not make any sounds, and follow closely to me."
They nodded their compliance, and pursed their lips.
Rin was not well hidden. He would have found her easily regardless, due to the concoction his father gave her, but he didn't even need to rely on the connection.
Her eyes widened as she saw him. "Sesshomaru! What are you doing here?" Her voice was a whisper, but still frantic. "And you brought Kagome and Inuyasha! What were you thinking?"
"I could ask you the same thing. Running off like you did, and for what? To marry that damn wolf?"
She rolled her eyes, "Oh, for Heaven's sake, I did it to keep you all safe! What are you going to do when they catch you here?"
"We don't have time for this. We have to leave. Now."
"I can't!" she exclaimed. "By marrying Ginta, he has agreed to call off the search for you and Inuyasha, he will spare your lives."
His eyes narrowed. "I do not need my life spared by some wolf pup."
"And what about Inuyasha's life?"
"I will protect him."
"Sesshomaru," she started before pausing, "Naraku is on his way. He is to oversee the wedding."
"There will be no wedding. You will not marry him to save me or Inuyasha."
Rin cradled her face in her hands. "You aren't going to take no for an answer will you?"
"No." He said, with a definite air of finality.
She knew that she had no choice. He was not leaving the tent without her, and she couldn't bear the thought of them being caught. Even if Ginta gave his word, Naraku would kill them.
"Let's go," she sighed to show her displeasure.
They each scooped up a child, and hurried out of the camp. It was too easy, far too easy, but Rin didn't have time to question it.
Once they reached their destination, Rin's curiosity could no longer be held at bay. After setting Inuyasha down on the ground, and sending him off to play with Kagome in a nearby flower garden, her questions started flowing. "How did you know where I was? Why did you come get me? What was the point in offering myself for marriage if you were just going to come take me back? And where is Jaken?" She asked, looking around for the green imp, who was nowhere in sight.
Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow. "Which question do you want answered first?"
Rin looked at him uncertainly. "You're going to answer my questions?"
He shrugged. "I might as well considering I stopped your impending nuptials. You seem very upset for someone who did not want to marry the wolf a day or so ago."
"I told you, I was saving you. You could be a little more grateful," she said, glaring at him.
"Grateful? You put everyone at risk for your idiotic plan that had no hopes of saving anyone."
"You just walked into your enemy's camp ground! With two five year olds! How was your plan any better?"
Sesshomaru scowled. "Jaken was used as the distraction to lure the warriors out of the camp. There was no point in offering yourself in marriage. I knew where you were and came and got you because we are bond together for life."
At first, Rin just stared at him, then to his shock, she began to laugh. "Bond together for life? What are you talking about? You think because you saved me you're stuck with me? Is that some demon tradition?" She continued to laugh. "Seriously, you don't have to be bonded to me. I release you from any obligations."
Sesshomaru stifled the urge to roll his eyes. He was initially confused about why she would be laughing, but it dawned on him that she truly did not understand. "Rin."
He only said her name once, and the laughter stopped immediately. "Sesshomaru? What are you talking about?"
"Do you remember the elixir that my Father gave you?"
"Yes, it healed me almost overnight," her voice plagued with the uncertainty as to how this mattered.
"It was made by combining my blood-"
"Y-your blood?" she interrupted quietly, but her voice steadily rose. "You gave me your blood?! Without telling me?! What were you thinking?!"
"I was saving your life. You never would have made it out of that tower I hadn't," he argued rationally.
"What have you done to me?" she asked, her eyes full of fear.
