Chapter 14
They both charged toward each other at full speed. Morty attempted a jab but Jaeger blocked it. The goblin then tried to hit Morty back but the albino teen grabbed it and stopped him before trying to hit him as well but Jaeger caught his fist also. They then pushed each other way and readied themselves.
Jaeger then she lunged forward, and attempted to strike a blow but was blocked by Morty every time who then side kicked him into the wall next to him. He then spun around and smacked him in the side of the face with her elbow before kneeing him in the chest, knocking the air of out him.
Jaeger smirked to herself as Morty backed up but was caught off guard when Morty quickly ran toward her with him and tackled him down the stairs nearby. They rolled and bounced off every step until they reached the ground. By the time everyone got down to the same level as them they were facing each other once again.
"Got you now!" Jaeger growled while beginning to approach.
"Not yet, skull-face!" Morty stated, as he selected another speedy monster.
"Then all aboard the Pain Train…" Jaeger hissed as he held up his knife and chuckled evilly while smiling.
"How could something so painful sound so fun?" Morty asked, jokingly and smiling before he quickly moved out of the way before Jaeger could attack him. They both turned around and then faced each other.
"Pack your bags, boy! I'm sending you to the Amazon Pain Forest!" Jaeger barked loudly.
"How could something so painful sound so tropical and lush?" Morty added, jokingly.
"Knock it off!" Jaeger growled, frustrated.
"But I'm having so much fun!" Morty smiled, as he dodged another one of his blows. "By the way… your way to slow, man."
"I. Am not. SLOW!" Jaeger yelled, angrily.
"What's Morty doing? He's just making him mad!" Frankie said.
"That's the idea!" Clawd stated.
"Yeah, he's using Jaeger's anger against him, that's not stupid that's strategy." Finn stated, smiling.
"Way to go!" Rami cheered.
Morty activated the device again. "Going Ghost!" he cried as he became intangible right before Jaeger could hit him, causing his fist to go right through him.
"What!?" he said, surprised while Morty flew up and above him. He activated the device again and a picture of a werecat appeared.
"Werecat!" he cried as he slashed Jaeger across the face and knocked back before landing on the ground in a pronged position. Jaeger groaned a bit as he rubbed his face, which had a visible scratch mark on it, which would no doubt leave a scar, before finally regaining his composure and turning to Morty.
"Lucky shot…" he spat.
"Don't believe in luck." Morty stated. "Now you hold still so I can ask you a few questions."
"Not on your life!" Jaeger snapped.
"Then I'll make you!" Morty declared as he leapt forward and pounced on him, though he was knocked off, Morty quickly used the device Ghoulia gave him to spit out some slime and then set it on fire which created a little explosion that knocked Jaeger back a bit.
"Yeah! Got 'em!" Finn cheered.
"Alright Jaeger, now that I have your attention… tell me… why are you so obsessed with killing me!?" Morty demanded.
Jaeger smirked as he got up again. "You don't need to know that."
Morty's eyes narrowed. "Yes, I do. And I won't let you do as you please, now tell me! Or I'll just have to keep pounding you till you do!"
Jaeger thought for a bit then smiled to himself as he let out a short chuckle. "Very well, if it's the last thing you want to hear before you become a true ghost yourself, I will tell you," he said. "First of all… have you noticed that there aren't many goblins in the world?"
Morty and the others looked surprised by this.
"Now that you mention it… yeah! But why?" Frankie questioned.
"That's because… they were all wiped out." Jaeger hissed before pointing at Morty. "And it was your family Arkin, your ancestor, who did the deed and wiped out my race and my family to the brink of extinction!"
Morty's eyes widened as he gasped in horror, the others followed suit.
"What?" Frankie said, stunned.
"That's impossible…" Morty muttered, in disbelief.
"Oh, but it is…" Jaeger hissed, evilly. "Would you like to hear the tale?"
"Do I have a choice?" Morty inquired.
"No."
"Fine, proceed…"
"Long ago, my people lived in peace, far from the normies and with only our families to worry about. I too had a wife, and a daughter… I was happy then…" Jaeger said, a bit sadly. Then his tune changed. "But then… one normie discovered where we were. Your ancestor, Morty! You might have been told that he was great man but I knew him as a true monster! And it's because of him that my family is gone! He killed them!"
The ghoul's and their boyfriends, plus Morty's monster friends, gasped when they heard what he said and Morty was so shocked that it almost rendered him speechless.
"What?" Morty gasped. "No… that… that can't be…"
"Oh, but it can." Koll said, darkly.
"You're not making any sense! Explain ya big oaf!" Finn demanded.
"Yeah, we all know that you've killed normies yourself, so don't act like your completely innocent!" Clawd added.
"Yes, yes I did." Jaeger confirmed. "I never would have if it hadn't been for this boy's great ancestor! He destroyed my home, took away my family and left me with absolutely nothing! They all did! So… I responded in kind."
"By eliminating every normie you could find… including my mother." Morty deduced, in a dark tone. "Well? I'm I right?"
"Yes and since then I have lived only for revenge, if not on your ancestor then on the next best thing; his descendent… Morty Arkin!" Jaeger declared. "You will soon feel the pain and fear my family endured for so long and then you will die!"
Jaeger then rushed forward with a savage yell and rammed a shoulder into him, hard enough to drive him well down the hall. The boy then activated his werewolf powers and used his enhanced speed and strength to return the favor and knock him away also.
"Look, I'm sorry for what my ancestor did to you and your people and all other monsters, but I also can't allow you to hurt my friends… or anyone else!" Morty told him.
"And you think you can stop me?" Jaeger questioned.
"I know I can!" Morty stated, firmly.
"Don't kid yourself, boy! Nothing will stop me from getting my revenge!" Jaeger yelled.
"Come on, dude, haven't you heard? Life's too short to hold a grudge!" Morty told him.
"Short for you maybe." Jaeger sneered, as he prepared to attack again.
"This won't change anything you know, this won't bring them back." Morty said, sincerely. "I know how it feels… and you know that better then anyone. Isn't that right, murderer?"
"You know the code kid; an eye for an eye." Jaeger stated.
"Which makes the whole world blind." Morty countered.
"Fine by me. Now like I said; if the whale's out of size limit I'll just have to settle for the minnows, namely… you!" Jaeger declared as they prepared to fight again but before they could someone shouted nearby
"Stop this immediately!" They heard someone call out.
They all turned around and were surprised to see Headmistress Bloodgood, riding on her horse; Nightmare right nearby.
"Headmistress Bloodgood!" Frankie gasped.
"What are you doing here?" Morty asked.
"I came to end this conflict once and for all." Bloodgood told them, firmly.
Jaeger just laughed. "And just how are you going to do that? You annoying insect!"
"Oh… no he didn't." Clawdeen said, with wide eyes. The others shared her stunned look.
"Oh yes he did." Morty confirmed, nodding very slowly.
Bloodgood glared at Jaeger furiously while her horse Nightmare snorted. "How dare you! I am the Headmistress of this school and I will not be talked to like that!? Do you hear me!?" she declared.
"Uh… Headmistress Bloodgood? I know your trying to help and all but your just making him mad." Morty warned her.
"I'm sorry Mortimer, but I can't just sit by and let you risk your life for ours." The Headmistress stated. "It's time for the diplomatic approach."
"Diplomatic approach?" Finn echoed.
"Oh… those never end well…" Clawd noted, grimly.
"Not helping…" Draculaura whispered, stressed and uneasy.
"Not lying…" Clawd whispered back.
"Now Jaeger, I know you are upset by what happened to your kind…" Bloodgood began.
"Upset!?" Jaeger snapped. "I'm the last one left!"
"That may be but maybe we can find a way to get you to start over…" The Headmistress told him.
"Start over?" Jaeger echoed.
"Yeah, maybe you can find a new girlfriend or something." Morty shrugged.
"You expect me to just forget about my wife and children?" Jaeger growled.
"No. I mean… you may not find someone life your wife again, but that doesn't mean you won't find something you won't like again!" Morty said.
"Yes, just listen to the boy and leave Jaeger, we'll give you anything you want in return, you have my word." Bloodgood told him, which seemed to drive Jaeger right over the edge.
"I want my family BACK!" Jaeger bellowed with rage, before throwing his knife at her. She and everyone else gasped
"Bloodgood!" Frankie cried.
But before the blade could hit her a hand suddenly appeared and grabbed it. They all turned around and saw that it was Morty, using another monster power to stretch his arm, who grabbed it and pulled it back to him.
"Jaeger. Jaeger, please! You don't have to do this!" Morty pleaded the Goblin. "Is this what your family would have wanted?"
"My family is GONE!" Jaeger shouted, stunning Morty greatly. "And now you're going to pay for your family's sin's, just like your precious mother."
Morty's eyes widened. "What!? You were the one who killed my mother!?"
"Yes, and your mother cried for mercy! Just like you will!" Jaeger promised.
While Jaeger laughed Morty growled. "I will make you pay for that!" he stated, angrily.
"Perhaps… but first… let me introduce your friends… to the same fate!" Jaeger declared as he quickly moved towards them.
Morty panicked and began to go after him. "No! Stop!"
"Morty, no!" Bloodgood cried, but she was too late to stop him. Jaeger dove towards the group who cry out in panic before Morty finally catches up with him.
"You leave them alone!" Morty shouted as he tackled Jaeger and knocked him away from the others.
"Morty!" They all cried.
They both rolled down the hallway together for a bit before they finally separated and skidded across the ground as they both halted to a stop and stopped in front of each other. Jaeger growled.
"Why you little…!" Jaeger began
"No! Not this time! I was willing to forgive you but not anymore you freak! You tried to hurt my friends! The ones I love!?" Morty growled. "I may only know them for a short time… but they've become my family. Because that is what Monster High is all about! The acceptance of others! Freaky flaws and all!"
"Is that so? Then I'll just crush all the other monsters that believe that once I'm finished with you!" Jaeger promised.
"No, Jaeger! I won't let you hurt my friends anymore!" Morty yelled, as he pressed down on the device hard, causing a massive energy surge, catching him by surprise. "Oh… that's not good."
The others saw this happening and their eyes widen with wonder and surprise.
"What's happening?" Frankie asked, worried. Ghoulia just groaned loudly, sounding very alarmed. "Oh… that's not good…"
"What?" Rami asked, not understanding her.
"The device is overloading…" Frankie said, fearfully.
"I'm guessing that's bad…" Finn muttered, a bit nervous.
"Very… everybody down!" Frankie cried, as they all turned and jumped forward while the red light surrounding Morty continued to glow brighter and brighter before releasing a large red flash that blinded them all.
