Sorry I took a really long time to update! :O I am very inconsistent. But, chapter 14 is here, and the serious battles are getting started! Okay, the battle with Mihiramon was pretty serious… but this is even more so! Because they all have Digimon now! But how much longer will they all have Digimon? Ah…
Chapter 14The Power of Sushi
Marineangemon was attacking the Digimon, but it wasn't doing much good. Neither were Guardramon's attacks. When the others had reached them, all their Digimon had digivolved to the champion level.
" Rima, do you know who this guy is?" Takato cried as Growlmon launched himself at the enemy.
" That's Sandiramon!" replied Rima. " A friend of Mihiramon's… they're both at the ultimate level!"
" We're going to have to digivolve again!" Growlmon called to the other Digimon.
" And this time, we'll be in control of our powers!" Kyubimon called back as she digivolved into Taomon.
" Hopefully…" said Gargomon, becoming Rapidmon.
Cyberdramon charged at Sandiramon, closely followed by Rima. Sandiramon reared his head to look at the pair, and evil glint in his eyes. With a casual flick of his tail, they were sent crashing to the ground.
" Rima!" exclaimed Henry.
" Don't worry Henry," said Rika. " She's part Digimon, it will take more than that to stop her."
" What about Cyberdramon?" wailed Ryo.
" He's made of even tougher stuff than Rima," said Takato grimly. " Wargrowlmon! Use your most lethal attacks!"
Wargrowlmon felt like sighing. He didn't need to be told to attack! He charged at Sandiramon, who knocked him over.
" Leomon, please help!" cried Jeri desperately.
" Fist of the Beast King!" he yelled; his attack hit Sandiramon, but the ultimate Digimon merely shook it off.
" Leomon! Why haven't you digivolved into an ultimate Digimon, like the others?" asked Jeri.
" I'm not sure… I guess I'm not as powerful as the others yet," said Leomon slowly.
" Oh, never mind, just keep attacking! I'm sure you'll do some damage to him eventually," said Jeri, trying her best to sound encouraging.
" Rapid fire!" Rapidmon was having a go. But still it wasn't doing much good.
Finally, Taomon decided to take action. She had been a little apprehensive at first, the memory of what had happened during the last battle still fresh in her mind. But, at last, she felt ready to attack. She could do this. She could do this. She –
" Taomon, will you please help?" shouted Rika despairingly.
Taomon wheeled round, so that she was face to face with Sandiramon.
" Talisman of Light!" she cried. A little symbol appeared, and hit Sandiramon squarely in the forehead. With a strangled cry, Sandiramon keeled over, and began disintegrating.
" Yay Taomon, you did it!" shouted Rika happily.
After they'd revived Rima, who, though perfectly unharmed, had been knocked out for most of the battle, and after they'd all had a look at Kenta's Digimon (" It's so cute!" said Jeri.), they all went their separate ways. Jeri and Leomon were walking silently home. While they walked, Jeri wondered about why Leomon couldn't digivolve to the ultimate level. Then, a complete different thought crossed her mind. Tamachi. She mentally groaned as she pictured his face. He hadn't said anything about her little outburst, which was a relief. She'd nearly walked into him at school the other day. She'd only just managed to stop before her head would have collided with his chest… Jeri screwed eyes.
" Jeri, are you alright?" asked Leomon.
" What? Y-yes, I'm fine," Jeri smiled up at her Digimon.
" Jeri!" Jeri froze, and Leomon quickly disappeared into the shadows. It was Tamachi.
" Oh, h-hi, Tamachi…" said Jeri as he ran up to join her.
" Hiya Jeri!" he smiled. " Oh, where has your friend gone?"
" Friend?" repeated Jeri.
" Yeah, that Leomon you were with…" he explained.
Leomon rejoined Jeri. " I wasn't sure how he'd react," Leomon said to Jeri.
" Listen Jeri, I've been thinking… about what you said to me the other day," he paused, and Jeri hung her head in shame.
" Well, I guess I should say sorry, for not reacting," he continued. " And then ignoring you. I mean… I quite like you, too. So do you want to go on a date with me?"
Jeri gasped.
" Oh, yes, of course!" she beamed at Tamachi.
" Great. I'll meet you at that Karaoke place near the school in about an hour. Sound good?"
" Really good!" replied Jeri. " I'll see you then!"
To celebrate their defeat of Sandiramon, Takato and Rika decided to take Rima to a restaurant near Jeri, Kazu and Kenta's school, so that she could try some Japanese food.
" What did they feed you in the underground base?" Takato asked Rima while they examined the menu.
" Some pastes mostly," shuddered Rima. " Nothing like this though… I think I'll try sushi!"
Takato and Rika exchanged nervous glances.
" Are you sure? Sushi's raw fish," explained Rika.
" I'm feeling adventurous today," shrugged Rima.
Takato and Rika decided to order sushi as well. In unison, they held a piece of raw fish to their mouths.
" On the count of three," said Takato. " One… two… three…"
They each placed the sushi in their mouths. Then, something strange happened.
" R-Rima?"
Ooooh, a cliffhanger? Dum… dum… dum! To be updated at some point in the next week. :)
