Chapter 14

Best Birthday Ever

"Sasuke." he heard a whisper beside his ear.

"Sasuke." Again he heard that all familiar voice and now he was awake. From what his stomach is telling him, he could estimate that it was still very early in the morning, and he was not really a morning person.

"Geez Sasuke. I would have like to hear something like, 'How sweet of you.' but no you just have to bring up my cooking skills." Naruto said sarcastically.

"That's what you get for waking me up early. It's only 6:05 dobe. And what's with the breakfast in bed anyway?" the raven asked, really not having any clue as to why the blond made breakfast in bed for him. He didn't even remember that during their first week together, he also made a breakfast in bed ramen for Naruto.

"You really don't know?" Naruto gave him a questioning look. Sasuke however still looked oblivious. He saw Naruto grinning and leaning closer towards him. "Happy birthday Sasuke!" Naruto greeted him.

"Oh." the raven muttered, suddenly becoming enlightened to the whole situation.

"Now that you know, come on and eat up." Naruto placed a small table above Sasuke's lap and set the tray on it. He was surprised to see that the dish was Oyakodon, and that there were tomatoes mixed in with the fried egg that was on top of the fried rice. And beside that was a bowl of tomato soup, still hot and he could very well smell the delicious aroma that radiated from it. His mouth watered immediately.

"Since when did you learn how to make one of these? I though you only knew how to make ramen in a cup."

"Come on Sasuke, give me some credit. I've been preparing for these for the past week. I had some help from Hinata."

"Okay, but did really you have to put these much tomatoes in front of me?"

"But I thought tomatoes are your favorite."

"Yeah they are. Kind of my guilty pleasure actually." Sasuke admitted. He really liked tomatoes. He didn't know why but he just liked it and here in front of him were two dishes with said fruit.

"Come on Sasuke, try it."

"Hn. I just hope I don't die from eating this." the raven muttered almost silently, but not escaping the ears of the blond.

"Would you just eat it temē!" Naruto snapped at him.

"Hai, hai." the raven obeyed and first tried the soup in front of him. He took a sip using the spoon and relished the taste. It was good. No, it was delicious.

"Hehe. I knew you would like it." Naruto chuckled, happy to see that the raven appreciated his cooking. Last week after he told Hinata his reply to her, she surprisingly took it well and somehow Kiba ended up comforting her and now they were together. Can you believe that? And so, Naruto and Hinata still remained friends and Naruto asked her if she could teach him how to make a dish that he would give to his special someone. Hinata didn't feel jealous about this, since now she had Kiba and moved on quite fast. She was actually well prepared for Naruto's reply so that once she heard it, it was easy to accept it, though it still did not stop her from crying when she heard Naruto's answer.

Moving on, Naruto learned how to cook the dish, burning a few on his first trials but after two days of practice in secret, he succeeded in making something passable to Hinata. But Naruto didn't want just passable. He was aiming to impress so using his Shadow clones, he trained until he made what Sasuke was enjoying right now. And ninjutsu also helped too.

"How did you make the soup so fine? I couldn't even feel the flesh of the tomatoes. It's amazing." Sasuke asked, truly curious as well as amazed that it was his dobe that was the one who made this masterpiece.

"I had a little help from my Rasengan." Naruto got the idea from when they mixed the dough used for the noodles in Ichiraku Ramen. With his Rasengan, the tomatoes were subjected to a violently rotating chakra blender that can grind it to the cellular level.

"How creative." he raven commented. After trying the soup, Sasuke went for the Oyakodon. And it was perfect. The rice was cooked really well, the grains firm but soft and well separate from each other, with the flavor sticking to each one. He could taste the slices of chicken that was mixed in with the rice and he could say the same praises for the egg with tomatoes.

"I must say these are really good Naruto. You'd really make a great wife someday."

"Hey who said I'm the girl in this relationship?!" Naruto said with a scowl on his cute face. Sasuke enjoyed watching his lover get angry because of the faces he made. He was quite adorable, really.

The last to arrive from the ones they invited in the Leaf was Kakashi, no wondering about that, but with the Mizukage Mei Terumi, surprisingly. "Dobe." Sasuke called onto to his lover. "I don't even want to tell you my impression to your plan. I just want to get this over with and have my private time with you." he sighed in defeat.

"I guess I would just want to greet you a happy birthday Sasuke." Sai said with that well practiced smile of his. "We haven't really known each other for a long time but I just wanted to give you this." Sai handed him out his present which was a book. Sasuke took it and looked at the title.

"You know Sasuke, I never thought you were the kind of guy who would go for celebrating birthdays but I guess I was proven wrong." he said with a smirk, showing those pointy sharp teeth of his.

"One more word Suigetsu and you won't see the light of day tomorrow." Sasuke threatened with a very intimidating voice.

"Tch, stingy." And with that the swordsman made his way back to the others.

Kakashi surprisingly also brought them a gift. He proudly presented it to Sasuke with a knowing look and even if his mask hid his lips from view, you could pretty much tell that the guy was smiling, pervertedly that is. He leaned into Sasuke's ear and whispered something to him.

"Remember to always use protection. These days, it's better safe than sorry."
