A/N: HEY GUYS! I'M SO SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING FOR TWO MONTHS! THE LAPTOP BROKE! IT'S NICE UPDATING AGAIN!
Chapter 14:
Hermione heard the cannon boom. Two left in these Games. She and Pansy—well, she hoped it wasn't Pansy, but it is a bit obvious. Poor Maisie.
It wouldn't be long until Pansy found her. Her screams were fresh and very near. She's got to keep moving or else she's dead. She sprinted for the cornucopia, that's where she can make her last stand: with more weapons. She won't go down without a fight. She's not saying she will go down though.
She grabbed the only spare arrows, which were five, inside the cornucopia. She counted all her arrows. Nine. Both of them can do long-ranged, but Pansy can also do short-ranged. Hermione never trained using the arrow like a knife.
She reached for the nearest supply backpack—it contained three cereal bars, one bottle of orange juice and another bottle of water.
She dug in.
:::
Pansy heard the sound of shoes against grass. Her head immediately whips into that direction and she ran after it. The rustling of the bushes came from her right. She continued for it and all she saw was a deer. She followed the deer and the deer finally stopped and lay down. Beneath it was a lectern, and on the lectern was a brown button.
"Should I press it?" she whispered. Brown usually means soil, or wood.
But the temptation was hard to resist. She pressed the button and a hole appeared beneath her feet. She fell inside.
:::
"Hello there, Tom." Harry spat.
Voldemort sneered at Harry and shouted the death curse. Harry dove and grabbed his wand.
"Expelliarmus!"
Voldemort's grip on his wand tightened. The green light flashed even brighter. Black smoke began to emit from the point of collision.
Both individuals were blasted away from each other. It was so strong that the room almost collapsed on them.
:::
Pansy stood up and bumped the portion of the ground next to the hole. She fitted if she stooped. The hole above her sealed itself. Pansy panicked. What if it's poison, what if it's Hermione's trap? What if it's another tribute's trap that we didn't know still existed? It all feels DEADLY.
Just then, a path of lights flickered on. It extended until Pansy could not see the end. An automated voice says, "Run through this pathway in five minutes, or else, the poison kicks in. It slowly does, in the three-minute mark. You could not dig above, because the forest will begin to be demolished. Your time starts . . . NOW."
Pansy's adrenaline kicked in. She was running in the speed of light, but why does it have to be so hot? She didn't notice it. A leopard suddenly pounced on her. It was so congested that the leopard couldn't throw her sideways. Pansy's defensive skills were automatically tapped, and she jumped to miss the leopard running to her. Pansy forgot about that she was underground, so she was pulled to the start. She took out her knife and charged, the leopard charging for her too. Its fangs began to fill with the color violet. This was the poison leopard, which means the poison should've begun emitting little by little. When the leopard was really close, she purposely made herself fall to the ground then she slid under the leopard. She stabbed it quickly and continued sliding. She stood up and continued running until she could see the end.
She reached for the hand ladder—and that's when the poison kicked in.
From all the corners of the pathway.
:::
Hermione looked up immediately when she heard the scorching sounds. She climbed the cornucopia to see better on what's happening.
And that's when she saw it. It's all around her.
The whole arena is on fire.
For all she knew, Pansy might be there, running her way out. That thought made her a little bit happy. Wait, that's not the Hermione she knew. She's not a sadist. She doesn't enjoy people getting hurt.
The fire went closer and closer as Hermione was shaking, waiting for the final cannon boom and the sound of the trumpets and victory.
But it never came.
:::
Pansy felt like someone's been strangling her. She chocked, spluttered, gasped and wheezed. She held her sides. Her right hand gripped the hand ladder. The poison was weakening her. Her grip on the hand ladder was loosening. She fell to the ground underground.
