Disclaimer: ...do I really even need to say it?
DON'T SHOOT! I'm epically sorry I haven't had time to update. Plus, I was suffering from mild writer's block. Nothing serious, no need to worry, I haven't gone into a coma or anything. :P But as a treat for making you wait so long, I'm going to share some knowledge with you:
So ya know how in Camp Rock Caitlyn says "Great, something wicked this way comes"? Well, it turns out that's a line from Macbeth (Act IV, Scene 1)! Yep, I just finished reading it for English. Now since I've shared that with y'all, I'm sure you're thinking 1 of 3 things (A) CC, you're stupid, how did you not know that before? (B) Was that seriously the only thing you learned from one of Shakespeare's greatest plays? or (C) No way! that's awesome, I so did not know that!
If you're answer was A, then...I don't give care what you think; it was news to me! :P
If you're answer was B, my response is yes, that was pretty much the only thing I learned! I mean seriously, have any of you guys read Shakespeare and actually understood it?
If you're answer was C, then I must confirm that you are, indeed, the cool ones. (The ones who said B are pretty cool too...and anyone who uses the word "indeed.")
DANG! That was a long author's note!...ONWARD! :D
P.S. This chapter's pretty fluffy...
CAMP ROCK 3: ENCORE
Mitchie and Caitlyn remained frozen for a few seconds in the bathroom. They were speechless for two reasons: 1) they could tell by the other's voice that something was urgent, so they waited for the other to speak first; 2) exclaiming something at the same time as their best friend was just kinda creepy.
Long story short, when one of them finally spoke, the two passed some quick words and questions and decided it was best to talk about both their problems tomorrow.
And that's exactly what they did. They had arranged to meet at the Final Jam stage way back in the woods. It was a good distance from the main part of camp, and there was enough room so that even if there was someone else there, they could sit far away from them in the stadium seats or find a fun place to sit on stage. (A/N: Personally, I'd pick a random place to sit on stage. I have a habit of sitting in random places...like an open display shelf in the hallway of a college we were visiting! :D Yes, I did get a few funny looks.)
Both Caitlyn and Mitchie seemed anxious and quiet all day. You could tell they had something on their minds. The only thing keeping them sane was reminding themselves that they only needed to last a few more hours until they could safely talk to their best friend. By doing some of their best acting when their friends were around, they managed to avoid most questions; but knowing his girlfriend so well, Shane knew something was up. He got a little suspicious during lunch, but once Mitchie smiled and assured him she was fine, he decided not to press it any farther.
Finally the day was over, and the girls hurried out of dinner to get to the designated meeting place. Mitchie made a quick pitstop in the kitchen (to get chocolate) before she left, and ran to catch up to Caitlyn. They met about half-way along the trail and walked in silence until they reached the stage.
Since no one was around, they made their way on stage to sit. They probably didn't even realize it, but subconciously they both felt that the stage was the easiest place to talk because it was a place they had a mutual comfort for. The stage was a safe-haven for them. Neither had really thought about it that way, or, more accuratly, neither had been able to put that feeling into words. But there was nothing else to explain it; it just fit; it made sense.
After taking their sweet time wandering aimlessly, the girls settled on one of the platforms hovering the side of the stage.
"So," Mitchie broke the silence, "you first or me?"
"Uh, I dunno. How long is your story?"
Michie sighed, "Long."
"Then I guess me first."
"Good, now spill." Mitchie questioned while throwing a piece of wrapped chocolate at her friend. "What's up with you and Todd?"
Several Minutes Later...
"I don't know, I'm just so confused."
Mitchie looked at her best friend in pity, "Caitlyn, it's not that complicated; you like him and he's making it pretty obvious that he likes you too. I get that you feel like you might be leading him on if you're still moving at the end of the summer, but, I mean...he knows you're moving and he's not trying to stop anything from happening between you two. As your best friend in the entire world," she gave a cheesy grin, "I think the least you can do is let whatever happens, happen."
They sat in silence for a few moments while Caitlyn pondered over her friend's advice. Eventually she perked up and decided, "You're right Mitchie! Todd's not stopping me, so if this my last summer here then I'm going to make the most of it."
"Good! And ya never know," Mitchie started playfully, "you might just have a boyfriend by the end of summer..."
Caitlyn rolled her eyes while Mitchie laughed at her annoyance.
"Alright, alright. It's your turn now. I want to know everything from beginning to end, A to Z, first to last, Alpha to Omega-"
"Caitlyn, shut up. Okay, so here's what happened:"
Begin FLASHBACK: (A/N: I'd prefer to put flashbacks in italics, but this is just too long & I don't wanna give y'all a headache.)
You know how in Kindergarden, when you're first learning to write, and your teachers and parents place their hands over yours as they guide the pencil you hold across the page? Or when you're learning to play a new instrument and your tutor places your fingers properly on the keys or strings? Well essentially, that's what was happening here; but because both already knew how to play the guitar, it was really more of a flirting session.
Shane had asked about how to play the cords for her song What to Do that she had just sung. So after they had gotten Shane's guitar from his cabin, they walked along the path that led to their special dock. When they got there, they sat down accross from each other and Shane took out his guitar while Mitchie guided him. Unfortunately, that didn't work for very long because Mitchie failed to bring her guitar as well. It turns out, teaching an old pop star a new song wasn't as easy as she thought it would be when she couldn't show him for herself.
After several "No, not that one" and "try like this," Mitchie lost her patience and took his guitar.
"Hey!" Shane laughed at his impatient girlfriend, "I was getting better."
"Haha, no you weren't!" she said as she moved from her spot opposite Shane. He looked confused for a moment until he realized where she was moving to.
Scooting up close, she briefly locked eyes with Shane as if asking permission. When he didn't object, Mitchie situated herself between his legs where he sat, and adjusted the guitar in front of them.
Shane smiled as he wrapped his arms around Mitchie's waist. She giggled, very amused by Shane's new distraction, "Noooo...not there," she took his hands in her own and removed them from her waist to put them in the proper positions on his guitar, "here."
"I knew that."
"Sure you did," she smirked. "This is how melody goes." Then she proceeded to show him how to play her song.
Not long later, the young couple had themselves laughing and wrapped up in a new conversation. By now though, Mitchie had willing removed the guitar from her lap and Shane had replaced his arms around her, where he knew they belonged.
"Trust me Shane, it hurts a lot more than you think."
"Well Jason said it didn't hurt that bad when I made milk come out his nose." (A/N: I know, could I pick a more random conversation? :P)
"Yeah, well, his was milk; for me it was root beer!" (A/N: True story...twice.)
Laughing at Mitchie's painful memory, Shane surrendered, "Okay, I guess you win!"
"Thanks, then the pain was worth it." She stuck her tounge out at him as she turned to look at him over her shoulder...
They were so close. That was all either of them could think about at that moment. Mitchie had turned to look at Shane while she laughed but instead they just ended up staring at each other. The previous conversations that they'd been having for the last hour or so just melted away until it was just them.
They both knew what was going to happen, but it had never happened like this before. This time felt different...a good different.
They leaning in slowly until their lips finally brushed. That simple touch was like a trigger to them. With parted lips they responded quickly and passionately.
Of course, there were fireworks, there were alway fireworks between them; but this one time it felt like so much more than either of them had words to describe. They only thing they were aware of was that this was the only place they wanted to be, wrapped in each others arms.
After a finishing peck, they both smiled probably some of the craziest, yet most sincere, grins of their life. Mitchie leaned her head back on Shane's chest and they sat in silence looking out into the lake.
They both thought. They thought about a lot of things. They thought, about home, camp, friends, and family; but not the way you think. They thought about home, and how they'd have to go back there for another ten months without seeing each other. Then there was camp, suddenly each other had become the main reason for being there. Of course friends they were thinking about, and how much they support their relationship and treat them like any normal couple. Lastly, they thought about their families. Mitchie's family supported their relationship even if it became tough on her at times; Shane's family would always be thankful for having Mitchie in his life, even if many hadn't met her yet.
Mitchie's POV
It felt weird being able to think of him in a way that made him seem so close and involved with my family and home life. He's never there, but I know he always will be if there were a time that I really needed him.
Sitting here in his arms, watching the sunset, everything felt completely right. The kiss we shared...ahem, kisses, I mean...still left butterlies in my stomach. After thinking about everything, my life, past life, and more importantly, my future, I suddenly knew Shane was going to be there for me through it all. I think I get it now, the feeling I've been having when I think about him...I am completely in love with him.
Now where's my courage to tell him that?
End POV
"Mitch?"
"Hmm?"
"Will you go out with me?"
Mitchie awoke from her daydreams and looked at him, "Of course I'll go out with you, Shane, no need to sound nervous."
He laughed a little, "No, I mean, really go out with me, as in not a canoe ride or walk around the lake? Like, do something, not at camp."
His girlfriend, still believing he was a bit crazy, waited a few seconds to answer, "I'd love to;" he began to smile, "but it doesn't matter since it's against the rules to leave camp grounds."
Shane took a deep breath, knowing what he was about to say probably wouldn't set well with her. "We could sneak out."
"What!" Mitchie exclaimed, now knowing her boyfriend was crazy, "We'll get in trouble, as in, kicked out of camp!"
"Come on Mitch. Do you honestly believe that even if we do get caught, Brown would actually suspend either you or me from Camp Rock? I'm his nephew and technically not an actual camper or instructor here. Plus, you're one of his favorite campers. He has a major soft spot for you; and your mom is working here, so I doubt he'd want to make you leave without her." He knew he made a very convincing arguement. "Please Mitchie?"
"...I'll think about it."
End FLASHBACK
"So we sat for a few more minutes. Then he walked me back to the cabin, kissed me goodnight, and, well, I guess you can figure out how I ended up on your bed," Mitchie finished telling her story to a slightly awestruck Caitlyn.
A few seconds later, Caitlyn snapped out of it and began her friendly advice and commentary, "Okay, so let me see if I got this straight: You wanted to talk to me because you just realized you have the most amazing boyfriend ever?"
Mitchie groaned and threw her head back, "Nooo! I needed to talk to you because I just realized I'm in love with my boyfriend, and he's asking me to sneak out of camp with him!"
"Oh. Well I still don't see much of a problem; you're amazing boyfriend, who you love, wants to spend more time alone with you. I say take advantage of it while you can; summer will be over before you know it, and you'll just go back to not seeing each other at all."
"I guess," she answered after thinking a moment. "But how do we not get caught? And what do I do about knowing that I love him?"
"Well I'll be happy to cover for you when you guys go out, but I'm not so much of an expert in the love category, so you're going to have to figure that one out yourself. Maybe talk to your mom about it or something."
"I don't know Cait, that would be kinda weird-"
"Just think about it. Okay?"
They smiled, "Okay." Both stood up for a hug. "Thanks for being the most awesome best friend in the whole world."
"Diddo."
I know I'm a little late but...Merry Christmas! :D I hope you all had wonderful holidays, and I am still sorry for not updating. One day, when my life straightens out more, I'll update a little quicker.
Anywho...penny for your thoughts? My thoughts are that this chapter was pretty cheesy. I wrote part of it the day after my last update, and then wrote the rest over the last few days. So if the chapter seems kinda inconsistent or different in any way, that's why. :)
?Questions?: 1) Did you like the chapter or think it's too fluffy? (I think it's fluffy so you won't offend me, I promise.)
2) Read my top author's note and tell me what you think by answering A, B, or C! :D
3) What was your favorite part? I liked making Mitchie reposition Shane's hands...even though she liked them where they were. ;)
I love you all my lovely readers!
