Chapter 13
It had been three months since their return from Asgard and Darcy was even more in love with her husband than ever. She was beginning to wonder if she could be carrying their first child when she came face to face with Frigga, Loki's adopted mother, who appeared right in front of her.
"Hello Darcy, how are you feeling, my dear," Frigga greeted her shocked daughter-in-law.
Darcy answered after getting over her shock, "I'm fine, maybe a little queasy but I am doing okay."
Frigga smiled at her daughter-in-law then told her what she had come to tell her.
Darcy stared at the Asgardian Queen not really believing what she had just been told.
"You came here to tell me that I am pregnant?!" Darcy exclaimed still trying to wrap her head around it.
"Yes. Yes, I did, but that is not all. Do you remember when I said that you would have more than one son?"
Darcy nodded and allowed the queen to continue. "Well, you will bare not one or even two sons but four as well as two daughters."
"But... How? I know you said that he had enough Aseir to father at least two children but six?"
"I know but the pool doesn't lie, Darcy. You will be the mother of six. But that isn't all."
Darcy felt faint. What more could Frigga reveal that could be any more surprising than what she had already revealed? "Okay. So you're telling me that I am going to give birth to six children two of which we know will follow in both their grandfather and father's footsteps."
"Well actually all four son's will follow in their father and grandfathers footsteps. That's what I have come to tell you."
"What do you mean all four will follow? How is that possible? I know that one will be the ruler of Midgard and one of Asgard but what of the other two?"
"Your third son will follow in his father's father's footsteps..." she hesitated and allowed that information to sink in.
Darcy thought about it for a moment and then what Frigga said clicked a memory of a talk she had had with her husband. "You're telling me that my third son is going to be the Frost Giants next king!"
"Yes, that is what I am telling you."
"You know that Loki is going to have a fit when he finds out don't you?" Darcy stated with a smirk.
"I know he will," the queen returned in glee before asking, "Darcy what do you know of your father?"
Darcy's head shot back to the queen wondering why she was asking her something like that.
"Nothing really. My mom never talked about him. All I know is that I look more like him than my mom and that he told her that he couldn't stay for some reason."
"That would be because you do and he couldn't stay."
Now Darcy was really confused. What did Frigga mean that her father couldn't stay?
"What do you mean he couldn't stay?" she asked completely ignoring the fact that the queen had said she did indeed look like her father.
Frigga looked at her daughter-in-law and inwardly smiled. The information she had just found out would change Darcy's life forever.
"Darcy your father is the king of Vanaheim. When he met your mother he was a prince and was exploring the realms," she began continuing with, "It's one of the reasons I knew that the golden apple wouldn't hurt you as you were already half immortal. And it's the reason you can detect when Loki is lying to you. It's your immortal gift which was unlocked after you consumed the apple. You are also his only child and therefore his heir."
Darcy was stunned. Of everything that her mother-in-law could had told her that was not one of them. She couldn't think her mind was blank for once in her life. She wished Loki was home but he was halfway around the world on some diplomatic mission. It was the first time he had left her alone since they had married.
"Frigga, are you saying that I'm...I'm..." Darcy couldn't even get the words out.
"The crown princess of Vanaheim," Frigga finished for her with a smile.
Darcy could only nod.
"Yes, you are and your father would like to meet with you."
The queen of Midgard could not believe everything she had just learned. It was too much for her and she fainted.
