Somewhere just inside Separatist space…
"Are your forces ready?" a croaky, cloaked figure asked.
"Yes my master, the Jedi won't even know what hit them," the silhouette of a feminine figure loomed in the darkness of the hologram on a Separatist frigate.
"And what of your former jedi master?"
"They believe that after my little accidental bombing which they covered ever so nicely for me and framed someone else; that I had changed. Too bad that my former master couldn't see past the compassion and loyalty to a padawan the Jedi possess. It'll be fun watching them all suffer".
"Good good, what about your special surprise?"
"The students were the highest in their class and have been serving me well and have grown powerful with my training" said the feminine figure getting up and walking towards the viewing screen.
"Very well, how soon will you be able to make it to the surface?"
"I'll be upon Coruscant within two hours. I expect you to be alive."
"Don't you worry, my Apprentice. Have you dealt with Dooku yet?"
"Not yet but it will be done, Master".
The transmission was cut short as an infuriated Count Dooku glided across the floor, tossing the figure aside with a bolt of lightning.
"You could never replace me. You couldn't even sense my presence outside" he spat, igniting his lightsaber, holding it the woman's neck.
"You see that's the problem with you isn't it?!" she taunted, thrusting out her hand and clasping it tightly, raising Dooku up into a force-choke, calling his blade to her left hand. "You were never meant to be replaced. Only betrayed and murdered!" she said finally thrusting the blade straight through his heart, his body falling limp to the floor.
The woman let out a breath and walked back over to the viewing screen and looking at her reflection in the glass. Her once baby blue eyes turning into a more sinister, amber, yellow. The colour that only could ever describe a Sith.
Jedi Temple
POV: Obi wan Kenobi
We all clung for life as the blast doors of the gunship sealed shut. We were under attack from two fighters. We had received word that Order 66 had begun and we were on our way back to the temple. The clones said that, they'd do their best to hi-jack a cruiser and arm every gun on-board as by the sounds of it, we were going to need it if so many were to turn against us. For now though they were laying low, free of the devices in their heads. Rex and Gregor insisted to stay and help their brothers and we didn't object, handing them a long range communication device before we disappeared, Oddball flying us in.
"General," his voice chimed as I shouted to him to continue. "You're going to have to jump into the hangar, I can't risk these fighters dropping droids in. I'll lead them away and hopefully make it back to the others. It's been an honour serving next to you."
"As next to you, Oddball. We thank you for doing this for us. May the force be with you," I shouted one last time as the blast doors opened and Korkie saluted.
I looked down at the temple as saw the separatist army ready and waiting, surrounding the whole temple. Thousands of droids could be seen standing and awaiting to receive the order.
The hangar doors opened just a crack, enough for us to drop into as we jumped, using the force to guide us in and soften the impact.
"We're in, but it's not going to be easy getting back out" I said turning to Korkie, quickly scanning him over to make sure he would be able to cope with it.
"Don't look at me like that. I'll be fine. I go and get Aunt Satine and I'll meet you in the room".
I nodded as I watched him run off as I began to my run in the opposite direction. As I ran saw a glimpse of what was full of Jedi Knights guarding and patrolling the area, workers frantically repairing ships and fighters to make sure they were air worthy and sure enough I saw an Anakin Skywalker working over his and Ahsokas' fighters, talking to R2.
I stopped jogging over to him.
"Anakin, what are you doing?" I asked confused
"What does it look like I'm doing?" he retorted welding a panel shut.
"Avoiding a meeting, yet again. Anakin this is important, if not one of the last ones we might have in this temple for a long time. We need to go".
"I know," he said, bowing his head and shutting off the blow torch, "don't you think I know that?" he cried out, his voice cracking.
I edged closer to him, placing my hand on his shoulder, "little brother, what's troubling you?"
He held his head in his hands as he got up, dragging his feet in the direction we needed to be going.
Sniffing back and putting on a face of stone, "they're going to die, every last youngling we try to hide in the training rooms is going to die. They're down there now! I can't see as to why or how it can happen before the main attack but it's going to. I just know it and I don't know how to stop it. You have to help me Obi wan."
POV: Erin Skywalker
It had been 20minutes since we had gathered in the war rooms allowing the temple to think whether or not who was fighting or going. The ones who were evacuating were gathered in the training rooms and the rest were to file back in the war rooms for my transmission.
I had pulled up a holo-map of the temple and the extensive tunnel system of archived data that only a selected few Jedi had access to. That being anyone between Padawans, Knights up to Jedi Masters and the Council Members. It seemed safest at the time but now I get the feeling that it was a stupid mistake.
I started the transmission
"I want Jedi posted along this corridor, it will be our main access point to evacuate the younglings and padawans when the time comes," I stated pointing to the map, "I want a mass of whoever is fighting posted on and near the four main entrances, the hangar both port and starboard and the north and south entrances. Smaller deployments will also need to cover to smaller hangars and entrances"
I took a breath standing back to change the maps over to the tunnel systems. I hope Anakin and Obi wan get here soon.
"Memorise these tunnels they will help you get around if the temple becomes overrun and communications get jammed. This one leads into lower downtown Coruscant, these three are the main ones we need to know they connect to just about every tunnel in the temple and lead to the hangar. I need three Jedi-" I stopped short as Anakin and Obi wan walked in, glancing up momentarily before continuing, "I need three Jedi in the sky with squadrons of around 15 Jedi who wish to, shadow squadron and wolf pack will also be joining us shortly. Padawans through to masters are free to join the air support on both sentry towers and rocket launchers. Separatist air support doesn't arrive for around one and a half hours so I want them out there now prepped and ready," I stood back looking to Anakin and Ahsoka, "Who's will to go?"
They both nodded along with representatives from each room, calling in numbers. Of who was going to which place.
'I have a squad of knights and padawans willing to go.'
'I have twenty-five'
…
Each representative called out numbers and soon enough I had a final tally.
My comm bleeped at me and I answered instantaneously just as Satine and Korkie walked through the door.
"Skywalker," I said answering, nodding and smiling at Korkie.
"This is Plo Koon, I'm available to help in the air if you need".
"It shall be done".
Turning back to the transmission I allocated places for everyone to rendezvous. Air support of squads of the best piloted padawans and a bunch of knights were all to meet with Anakin, Ahsoka and Plo Koon, to takedown as many droids as they could and help escort ships out of the system. Asajj is to be helping with the sentry towers and rocket launcher since she knows all the weak spots. I, to be coordinating the evacuations and Obi wan and Korkie were to help Yoda with the ground assault teams and Sentinels.
"Erin," Obi wans voice came from behind me, "We need to discuss something with you-"
"Has anyone seen Barriss, I can't find her, she was supposed to be back yesterday," Luminara's voice chimed in.
"I'm sure she will turn up, please I need you to help evacuate the younglings with Ki-Adi, Mace and Kit".
She nodded and jogged out of the room as I turned back to Obi wan and a very distressed looking Anakin.
"You need to get the younglings out of those rooms now, they're not safe down there. I had a vision," Anakin blurted out, hardly a word sinking into my brain.
"They are being evacuated as we speak, no harm can come to-"
"You don't understand, a Sith attack is imminent down there, I just know it. Can't you feel it in the force?!"
I stood still, searching through the force.
"Change of plan, Obi wan go get Satine to a cruiser and help coordinate evacuations, Korkie come with me. Remember brother, duty comes first, get to your fighter and Ahsoka, they'll need your combined experience and expertise"
And so it began. The mother of all battles was starting to commence.
