Chapter 14.
Nevertheless, once I was inside, I found my worst fear standing by my desk, dressed in the most lavish garment than anyone in Le Ciel could afford.
" Hello" she spoke.
I gulped.
It was... Syaoran's mother, my ex-mother-in-law.

I was uncomfortable. Well, that was an understatement. It was more like I was petrified as if I were a fragile prey in front of a ravenous predator who was all too ready to attack. My heart beat fast and all I could think at the moment was the fact that she was in front of me - which signified that I committed a grave mistake.
"How insolent" she spoke, breaking the heavy silence.
"No greeting back, no offer of a seat nor a cup of tea. You never change do you?" she added with cold glare.
My head fell with her venomous words.
I do not know how long I stood still for. I could not make any retorts or any movements. Every inch of my body was shaking so much that I had to hold myself to be steady. Damn, pathetic...
The painful silence stretched, until she spoke again.
"I will send a car after your work. Do come out swiftly as I do believe we have some talking to do. Oh, and make sure you keep our meeting unknown to anyone. When I mean anyone I really do mean it."
Then she left, without hearing my reply.
I was staggered. What exactly was going on? What did she mean by talking?
And, that was when realization hit me. No matter how intently I thought about her words, it all pointed towards one answer and it made my heart sank unfathomably; she knows. She probably found out that I have been meeting Syaoran again. How she found out? I do not know. But I was aware of the fact that she had countless sources and her appearance did not mean anything hopeful.
Rest of the day passed by rapidly. Even before realizing, the dreadful time arrived. When I left the building, there was a black sedan waiting for my exit. As I approached the car, a driver opened the back seat and ushered me in. And, he drove to a hotel, presumably the one she was staying at. Then, he promptly led me to her suite and opened the gigantic door, silently urging me to enter.
I gulped and took a deep breath. Then, I entered.
As I walked along the ravish corridor and into the extravagant living room, I found her sitting by the couch with a glass of red wine.
Without even looking up from her sitting, she gestured the man who drove me and led me to her suite to leave. And, she stared at me.
"Sit." she ordered which I complied immediately.
Taking no pause, she did not beat around the bush and commenced directly into the topic she had in mind.
"You are meeting my son again." she stated.
"...Yes." I barely managed to reply.
With my acknowledgement, she snapped. She stood up and picked up her glass. Then, she splashed its contents on my face, her frame shaking furiously.
"How dare you seduce my son again! Have you got no shame? Why are you doing this to me? To my son? To my family!" She shouted frantically.
I was shocked at her sudden outburst and action. Even if I half-expected to blame everything on me, I did not anticipate her splashing wine on me like that. Nevertheless, I could not talk back. It was true. I did accept Syaoran back into my life knowing the full consequences of my action.
All I did was quietly listen to her antagonism until she said something that cracked something in me.
"Ha! This was what I should have expected from ignorant girl with no mother. What could you have learnt ..."
That was it. I was not listening to her rambling about the issue so I finally stood up to meet her eyes and yelled back without rational thinking.
"You can say whatever about me. But do not involve my innocent parents into the matter. It is not like Syaoran had proper parents as well!"
With my retort, her eyes went wide - she was surprised.
"How dare you... how dare you say!" she stammered, her speech deterred by anger. And, before she could complete her sentence, she collapsed.
