Leonard tossed and turned on the living room couch, trying to get comfortable. After a little while, he heard the bedroom door open and light footsteps approaching. A hand patted his leg and he sat up. Penny dropped down on the couch beside him, wrapped her arms around his neck and placed her forehead against his shoulder. "Can't sleep?" he asked quietly.

"I'm sorry, honey," Penny said in a tearful voice. "I over-reacted. Guess you're kinda used to that, but you shouldn't have to be."

"I'm sorry too. I should have told you about the talk I had with Sheldon, but with all that was going on it just slipped my mind," Leonard replied.

"God, I'm such an idiot!" Penny spat out. "I should have known you didn't do it on purpose."

"Hey, you're not an idiot," Leonard said, kissing the top of her head. "You're with me, after all!" he added with a grin.

Penny knew he was just trying to lighten the mood, but she replied solemnly, "Leonard Hofstadter, you're the best thing that's ever happened in my life. I love you. Now let's go to bed."

It was a sunny but cool Saturday morning a few weeks later. The physiotherapy had gone very well, under Penny's watchful eye. Leonard's leg was as strong as before the motorcycle accident, and their relationship was even stronger.

Leonard woke to the smell of fresh coffee and toasted bagels. Looking at the alarm clock beside their bed, he was surprised that Penny was up so early on a weekend. Leonard climbed out of bed, threw on his robe, and headed to the kitchen to find Penny already dressed to go out, travel mug in one hand, partly eaten bagel in the other. There was a cup of coffee waiting for Leonard on the kitchen island, along with another bagel.

"Oh good, you're up, I was just going to wake you before I left," Penny said.

"Coffee smells good! Thanks, honey!" he said. "Although, it's a bit shocking to see you up and about so early, and on a Saturday!"

"Well," Penny said, thinking fast, "I've got some, uh, actress stuff to do. Yeah, that's it. So, you just relax, have breakfast, maybe watch some Star Trek Wars thing on t.v. and I'll see you at lunch-time. With that she kissed him good-bye and headed out the door.

Penny got back to 4B around 11 o'clock with a couple small sandwiches and fruit smoothies from a deli she had stopped at on the way home. She and Leonard were finishing lunch in contented silence, when Penny flashed him a mischievous smile. "You know, when I left the hospital the day of the accident, I brought the stuff you had with you back home. I never got to see you dressed up in leathers. The pants are ruined but the leather jacket is just scuffed up, and worn leather looks better anyway. Would you put it on for me?"

"Okay, I guess," Leonard replied.

"Cool," said Penny, heading to the bedroom to get the jacket.

"Wow, Looking sharp!" Penny said, after Leonard had donned the black leather jacket. She bit her lower lip. "Let me get my coat, I feel like going for a little walk."

"Alright," Leonard said, wondering if she was up to something.

After Penny got her jacket and boots on, the two lovebirds headed down to the ground floor.

"So," Penny was saying as they made their way down to the lobby, "You know I've got a little more money to play with, what with the commercial deal and us sharing the bills. I was thinking we could get away for a weekend, just the two of us. I know a little B&B with some sturdy chairs." She giggled as Leonard's eyes grew wide.

"That sounds pretty good to me, when did you have in mind?" Leonard asked as they walked through the lobby and out of the building.

"Well," Penny said a little hesitantly, "The truth is, I already booked a room for tonight. Oh, and I rented that." She pointed to the curb in front of the apartment building. Leonard's jaw dropped. There sat a Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe, with a pair of leather chaps draped over the seat and a helmet hung from each of the rear view mirrors. One helmet was pink, with "Hello Kitty" graphics emblazoned on it.

"Um," Leonard was speechless.

"So, you gonna take me for a ride, big boy?" Penny said in a sexy voice, her green eyes sparkling.

Leonard cleared his throat a couple of times and finally found his voice. "Wow...just...wow!"

"Well?"

"Right, okay, lets do this. Just let me run up and get a couple things." Leonard said. Now that he had overcome the surprise, he felt ready to go.

"Okay," Penny replied, "I've already put most of the stuff we'll need in the saddle bags, so don't be too long."

Leonard went back up to the apartment to get his wallet. While he was there, Leonard got out the small black box he had been hiding in his sock drawer and put it in his jacket pocket, zipping it safely inside. He also grabbed a spare inhaler, figuring it might be needed, then headed back down to a waiting Penny.

"All set?" Penny asked him as she pulled on her helmet.

"You bet!" Leonard answered, and donned the helmet she had gotten him. He threw his leg over the bike and started it up. As soon as Penny had climbed aboard, he kicked it down into first and they were off.

It wasn't long before they were on the freeway headed towards the coast. Leonard wore a huge smile as he felt Penny's arms wrapped around him from behind, her body pressed tightly against his. Penny had a smile of her own. She could feel the small box in his jacket pocket, the one she had seen him sneaking into his drawer a week earlier. This time she knew her answer would be yes!

The End.

A/N; The end? Well, sort of. I'm almost finished an alternate ending which I will hopefully post in a day or two. I'm also considering a sequel, if I can think of an interesting plot to take L/P through their engagement. If I do write it, it may include some Shamy progress. Chiany got me thinking about that and I think I've come up with something good. Oh, and the bike; the Harley wouldn't be my personal choice, but I remember reading somewhere that it's what Johnny rides, so I thought it was apropos. Finally, a heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the time to read this.
