A/N: So it has been over a year since I updated this, and that's mainly because rhis chapter was giving me so much grief. I've gone through so many revisions that it isn't even finished now. (Technically this whole story has been a pain). To me the characters seem bland and awkward, and so I have decided that this version of the story will be discontinued. I already have a few chapters of the complete rewrite finished so expect to see that in the next few days. Thank you all for your patience in this, and I really hope you enjoy this final chapter of this verion of the story.

Link sat in the passenger's seat of the vehicle. He and Saria rode in silence until he finally mustered the will to speak.

"So what's the penalty?" He asked.

"Excuse me?" She responded.

He exhaled deeply, "You know, for doing what I did," he replied.

"Oh right, that. Well Ambient isn't usually one to hold grudges. He just doesn't tolerate incompetence. Not that you're incompetent, but what you did back there was really stupid and you have a long way to go if you want to stay on the team. Not to mentio-"

"I get it!" He snapped.

She realized her mistake, "Right sorry. Link he'll understand that you're new and you don't have experience in this at all. Just prove to him that you won't make the same stupid mistakes."

Link sighed deeply, "I didn't ask to be the Hero, you know. I didn't want to be a vigilante. I just wanted to uphold the law."

Saria smirked, "Don't we all?" She asked. "See Link, the reason we operate outside of the law is because of the bureaucracy of Law Enforcement. Either you're pushing papers to get you access to evidence of crime scenes, or you get put on cases you don't even want to be on. You didn't ask for or want this, but we need you on the team. The thing about Sheik that you have to understand is that he isn't a light. He's a leader that makes the tough choice. And sometimes the tough choice isn't the right one. Just like the easy choice. You're the Hero of Hyrule, Link. You are our light. Sheik is the one who makes the tough choices so you don't have to tarnish the Hero's name."

"I don't understand," Link responded.

"Sheik is the Ambient. The natural light of our city. This city was one of the most crime ridden cities in Hyrule, and still is home to the largest number of successful crime families. Castle Town is a dark place, and so our natural light isn't very light at all. Sheik is as much light as Ravio is shadow. So he's kinda dark. That makes it easier for him to make tough calls."

"Has my brother ever had to make those calls?" Link asked, somewhat worriedly.

Saria thought a moment before answering, "Ravio is a good soldier. He follows orders, and sometimes those orders are less than favorable," she responded. "Everybody here has their place; Vaati is our intelligence. He knows his way around the inner workings of the Dragmire Syndicate. Terra is kinda our judge, jury, and executioner, but he's also our rock. He keeps us all grounded Aqua is the one who keeps Terra in check. Phoenix is our hope. He's young, somewhat naive, and caring. Zelda is our caretaker in a way. She makes sure we have the necessary equipment for any job. She's also our emotional and mental support. She's indispensable. Me? Honestly I'm not sure what I do. I'm just kinda there. But even I have a purpose Link if I don't know it, and you do too if you don't know it. That's the thing about us Link, each and every one of us has some sort of part to play in this chaotic world. And sometimes you have to become the chaos to destroy it. Sheik is the vigilante so we can be the heroes. He sacrifices his own humanity so that we don't have to. He carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, and it's probably going to get him killed. That's why he was so strict, Link."

"But doesn't a hero carry the weight of the world on their shoulders?"

"Exactly. Sheik may deny it, but he really is the only hero out of all of us. Without him none of us could do anything. He trained us all in our powers despite not being able to use his own."

Link pondered for a moment before replying, "He was manipulating some sort of energy at the palace when we were fighting," he stated.

Saria raised an eyebrow at this and opened her mouth to say something, when all of a sudden she saw a black hooded figure 50 yards in front of her.

She immediately slammed on the breaks and the tank looking vehicle jerked to a stop. Link looked out of the window and recognized the figure as the one he has fought a few nights previously.

"Shit," he muttered under his breath.

Ambient held his pistol at the ready and signaled for his teammates to cover his flank. They formed a tight circle around Agent Wise and moved in a somewhat identical manner. Shadow walked backwards, covering their backs. Terranova took the right flank while the Wind Sage took the left. Ambient led the group further into the throne room, only finding it empty.

"Sweep the area," Ambient instructed. "Agent Wise, please come with me."

The agent nodded and the two proceeded to the throne where they began to analyze the scene. The throne room seemed to be void of human life as the Ambient moved closer to the throne itself. He looked around until he found a button on one of the arm rests. He signaled for his teammates to join him and pressed the button, revealing a hidden door on the wall behind the throne that lead into a descending staircase.

Ambient looked back, "Be prepared for anything. We don't know what we're up against," he warned.
