Arthur had clocked in this morning hoping for a quiet day. He had to deal with so much lately: broken legs, pneumonia, being attacked by patients, ect. After all that, was a quiet day too much to ask for? Of course it was, because no sooner had he started his rounds of medicine that morning, he had been toppled over by Matt.
Matt rammed into him unintentionally as he tried to suddenly skid to a halt. The two fell into a heap, but thankfully, Arthur's medicine cart stayed intact. "Sorry Arthur!" Matt said quickly as he got back up and dusted himself off. He looked panicked.
"Matt, are you ok?" Arthur getting up.
"No, no I'm not, but I don't have time to talk right now, ok?" he said turning to go, but Arthur stopped him.
"What's wrong?" he asked, gripping Matt's arm.
"Arthur, it doesn't matter! There are more important things to care about right now!" Matt said frantically, as he tried to tug his arm free.
"Like what?" Arthur asked.
Matt was silent for a moment. "...Amy's gone missing." He finally said.
"She's run off again?" Arthur asked. What was the big deal about this? She runs off all the time.
"No!" Matt said, "She didn't run off! I'd be more exasperated then worried if that was the case. She wasn't in her room when I went to see her this morning. She's just gone!"
"What?! Why haven't you gone to get help?" Arthur asked feeling worried for Amy.
"I tried to get Alex to help, but she said there was another patient missing from his room this morning and she was already busy with that!" he said, "This is serious, especially if there's another patient running around. What if the other patient is violent? What if he was the one who kidnaped Amy?"
"Matt, calm down! You're unraveling!" Arthur said putting his hands on Matt shoulders, "We don't know if she's been kidnapped. I'm worried about Amy too, but panicing never solves anything!"
"Not doing anything doesn't solve anything either," Matt said annoyed.
"While that is a very valid statement, I'm standing firm on my belief that you need to calm down. Seriously, not just about this, but everything surrounding Amy now-a-days. If you don't one day you are going to snap and you know it!" Arthur said.
Matt was quiet for a minute. Was he really as stressed out and anxious as they said he was? When Alex had said it he changed a bit, but he still hadn't thought anything was really wrong with himself. Now more than one person had said something...maybe they were right. He had been treating people like they were all going to try and kill Amy until Alex had stepped in the first time, and he hadn't completely trusted Miranda until she had saved his and Amy's lifes...and then it was Amy who had saved both of them in the end. Then there was the time she had stopped him from getting hit by that contraption Alaya had made, the time she stood up to that "philanthropist", the time she destroyed that printer...maybe he should be a little less worried about her. "Alright," Matt said, "but we still need to find her and quick."
"Agreed." Arthur said letting go of his friend.

Hoping Amy was still inside the building, the pair searched the mental ward first. When that turned up inconclusive, they split up to check the other areas of the hospital. Matt had been searching the third floor for the past twenty minutes and hadn't found her anywhere. He was starting to feel a little panicked again. What if she wasn't in the hospital anymore? What if she really had been kidnapped? 'No,' he thought to himself, 'Now is not the time to start jumping to conclusions. Amy is more than likely still in the hospital somewhere, you just need to keep a level head and continue looking.'
Not a few seconds after he calmed himself back down, he heard a giant crash come from a room. "Amy?" he called rushing over to said room. He opened the door, hoping to see his patient and friend, but was deeply disappointed. Matt groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose with two fingers. "Fantastic. Just fantastic. Of all the people it had to be, it was you," he said, annoyed.
Acrossed from him in the thankfully unoccupied room and tangled in a few electrical cords, was a short, tan man with a shaved head in scrubs known as Steven Spudnik, also known as...
"Commander Strax, reporting for duty, sir!" the man said saluting. Yeah. That. Matt sighed. He hoped Arthur was having better luck.
(With Arthur)
As fate would have it, Arthur was having a lot more luck than Matt. He had been walking past children's ward when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. The children's ward had a small play area in the waiting room with all sorts of toys for kids to play with. He saw Amy sitting in that area with two very angry looking nurses infront of her through the glass doors. "Amy!" he called out to her after opening the door.
Amy looked up to see Arthur, smiled widely, and ran over to him. "Rory!" She shouted as she pulled him into a tight, one arm hug. Arthur was about to respond when Amy then decided to kiss him. Arthur froze in surprise until Amy pulled away and went back to hugging him with only one of her arms. "I missed you so much!" she said.
Not sure of what to do, Arthur returned the hug. "It's good to see you too," he said. Amy didn't respond.
"Ahem!" Arthur looked up to see an older woman in a lab coat with black hair done up in an intricate fashion. "Do you know this woman?" she asked, a very annoyed look on her face. Amy glared at her.
"Uh, yes ma'am. You see, she's a patient from psychiatrics. I was supposed to come and collect her." he said, "Who are you?"
"Dr. Korvarian, head of the children's ward," she said extending a hand, "I'm glad you came to collect her. She's been nothing but a nuisance for the past hour. We were about to call security until you showed up. Thank you for doing so but we'd all appreciate it if you don't let it happen again."
"Will do, Ma'am," he said shaking her hand, "Come on Amy, let's go."
They turned to leave when Dr. Korvarian spoke up again. "Before you leave," she said, "We'd really appreciate it if you'd give us that doll back. It belongs to the ward."
"Doll?" Arthur said confused, "What doll?"
"The doll that patient is trying to smuggle out." she said matter-of-factly.
Arthur looked down to see that Amy was indeed cradling a doll in her left arm, a baby doll. "Amy? Why do have that doll?" Arthur asked.
"You'll never take Melody from me! You'll never get my baby!" Amy shouted at Korvarian. Oh boy. this was going to be harder than he thought.
(With Matt)
"You found him?" Alex said in surprise from the other end of the phone. Matt had called her soon after he had found Strax. Strax had escaped this morning when someone had come in with breakfast. Apparently, when the poor nurse had opened the door, he charged past him (knocking him over in the process) shouting "SONTA-HA!" over and over again. Strax was an odd case. Several years before hand, he was part of the military, a nurse. when he came back, he was completely fine, physically and mentally. He never showed any signs of posttraumatic stress disorder, and he had been sent to a therapist for a few sessions but they had said that nothing was wrong with him. then one day he just snapped. He started believing he was an alien soldier and began doing all sorts of crazy things. Example: declaring war on the moon (ie shouting at it for several hours in the night from a top his roof). eventually, he had been sent here for his own health and safety.
"Yeah he was in one of the rooms on the third floor. Thank God no one was in that room." he said to Alex, "I'll bring him down ASAP."
"Thanks Matt!" she said hanging up the phone.
Matt pocketed his phone. "Alright Steven-I mean 'Strax', we need to get you to your-" he said turning towards where Strax was, only to find he wasn't there anymore. Matt sighed. Now where could he have gone?
"Haha! Surender, Monk! I have you cornered!"
Survey says: in the direction of that voice. Matt headed off down the left hallway. It did take him long for him to find Strax again. He was threatening a very confuse and bewildered janitor with the poor man's own mop. Matt grabbed the mop from Strax. "Sir, What are you doing?!" Strax exclaimed, "give it back!"
"No Strax, its not yours and you cannot just threaten people like that," Matt said before handing the mop back to the janitor with a quick apology.
"Why are you helping the enemy? This is an outrage!" Strax said.
"He's not the enemy, he's just a janitor. Now come on. The sooner I get you back, the sooner I can return to looking for my own patient." Matt said, tugging Strax along by his arm.
"But I wanted to destroy something!" he whined.
Matt groaned. Dealing with Strax was like dealing with a child. A child who wanted to rule he world. Despite having been in the military, Strax was more of a nuisance than a threat to anyone. Matt hoped he'd be over and done with the Strax issue and be able to find Amy soon.
Suddenly his phone began to ring. Still keeping a tight grip on Strax's arm, he answered his phone. "Hello?" he said.
"Matt! Good you answered." he heard Arthur say.
"Arthur, what is it?" he responded.
"Well I have some good news and some bad news," Arthur said, "The good news is that I found Amy."
"Really? that's great! Where did you find her?" Matt asked.
"I found her in the children's ward. This is where the bad news comes in." Arthur said.
Matt's heart sunk. "Is she ok?" he asked.
"She's fine," Arthur said, "but she's become very attached to a particular baby doll, one that belongs to the ward."
"Oh boy..." Matt said sighing, "Give me about ten minutes. I have something to take care of and then I'll be right over." He hung up and then returned his phone to his pocket.
(Time skip)
After returning Strax to the mental ward. Matt headed over to the children's ward to help with the situation with Amy, who greeted him ecstatically and introduced him to her "baby". The issue almost lasted for an hour. At first they tried to convince Amy that the baby wasn't a real baby, but instead a toy. That conversation did not end well. Next they tried Arguing with Dr. Korvarian to allow them to keep the doll, but her resolve was firm, even when they offered to replace the toy. That led to only one option: having to separate Amy and the toy.
After a very emotional goodbye, Arthur and Matt had to lead a heart broken Amy away from the children's ward. Matt felt guilty for making his friend so upset, but it was for the best. Amy had enough issues telling what was real and what wasn't. Adding a fake baby on top of all that would only make her worse off in the long run.
After getting her back to her room, they found out Amy had swiped some keys from Miranda the other day. While Matt was a little ticked off about that, he still felt he should go and apologize to Amy.
"Amy?" he said, opening the door to her room. Amy was huddled on her bed. Matt walked over to her and sat down next to her, placing a comforting hand on her back. "Amy are you all right? I'm really sorry about what happened today." he said quietly.
It's ok," she said sniffling, "It's not your fault." Matt felt a twinge of pain in his chest. It was his fault though. He couldn't convince that stupid doctor to give up that doll. In the end it was for the best, but it still hurt her. "I just can't believe it." she said.
"Believe what?" he asked.
"That Melody is River." she said.
Only one thing went through Matt's mind when she said that. What. The. Hell?! he decided not to say that though. Instead he said, "You know, I can completely agree with you on that, Amy." Amy smiled when he said that. Matt hoped that meant things would be ok, but now he had to make sure of one thing: to NEVER tell Alex what Amy had just said.

WOOT! finally I got this done! This took me forever to finish the outline for this alone. sorry for the wait guys. I'm also sorry if this doesn't follow the the original plot of the episode very well. AGMGTA is a really hard episode to write for in a normal universe AU because it's just so fanciful and not normal. I hope you guys enjoyed this though! I don't know when I'll get the next chapter done, but hopefully it will be soon. Also, a big thank you to all may reviewers. You guys are awesome, and I really appreciate the support. it helps motivate me to get more writing done. I hope you guys have an awesome day, and please tell me what you think!
