Chapter 14
Michael P.O.V
After the initial shock of Cameron just appearing out of nowhere and a lot of screaming on Leah's part and explaining on Cameron's and having gotten everyone clued up that Emma and Ethan are Cameron's children and that Cameron was a part of the seven, we could get back to the business of trying to find Ember and Kelly. Cameron came from a family of talented trackers, so if anyway could find them it would be him.
"Ok let me get this straight Alrick kidnapped your daughter and the great white witch needs my help to find her" he asked Natasha with that cocky grin of his and she just glared back at him. I could see that it was bothering her that she couldn't do anything to find the single most important person in her life. I knew she didn't mean to snap at me the way she did but I also wasn't going to let her little outburst go on without her putting some of the blame on herself.
"Are you going to help or not?" she asked with fire in her voice and he put his hands up defensively but he still had that cocky grin. I could tell he was going to talk his way into a heap of shit before he got serious about the subject, it was normally best to just let things like this play through.
"I will help but I don't see why you need it, are you losing your talents old friend" he joked and I rolled my eyes. I could see in Natasha's eyes that he stepped over the line and I wondered what she was going to do to him. She smiled at him in her evil playful way. He looked scared for a second before he fell from his chair in agonising pain with a silent scream coming from his lips and his hands gripping his head. She could get into a person's head and pull the strings; make them feel pain, make them see nothing, make them see things they wished they would never see again. She could even make them think they were going crazy. When we were younger we would call the three royal triplets mind freaks because their powers revolved around the mind. He stopped screaming a few seconds later and he flipped over to lay flat on his back, he was breathing heavily and he kept his eyes closed, she must have really messed with his head and I tried not to laugh.
"Well I guess you get what you deserve" Leah said as she glared at him but I could see the hint of concern and love in her eyes that would always be there because of the imprint but I could understand why she was still pissed at him, what he did was stupid and come to think about it, it was the same thing Tasha had done but I wasn't about to bring that up now. Sasha smiled knowingly at me and I glared at her in warning to get out of my head.
"Fuck. I thought I told you never to do that to me… Ever" Cameron shouted at Natasha but he didn't get up from the floor, I understood what he was feeling though, it could sometimes take a few minutes to get your bearings back. Natasha turned to me and smiled.
"Could you please give Mr big mouth on the floor a hand" I smiled and moved my hand in a series of motions that had Cameron floating in the air and sitting on his chair in a matter of seconds. "Thank you Michael" she turned her attention back to Cameron "now could you please stop acting like a child" he glared at her but nodded his head anyway, there was a reason Natasha was our leader, she knew how to handle us. I looked around the room and saw a few of them giving her strange looks, some of them even looked scared.
"Ok first things first why is Ember so important to him, aside from using her to draw you out" I averted my eyes from his and looked at Natasha who was also looking anywhere but his direction "what?" he asked in a confused voice.
"Ember is the grand witch" I finally blurted out when Natasha wouldn't answer his question and he looked like he was about to have a fit as well as Sasha.
"Fuck we better get to work finding her then and the other seven then" Cameron breathed out but he look a to serious I wasn't used to it, the last time I saw him this serious it was the day we split apart to keep each other safe. A thought came to me a second later on the topic of finding the other seven and apparently Sasha had the same thought or she just read my mind again.
"The seven have to come from the blood lines of the original seven and it can only be from those who are born as a seven. We know that Ember is one because she's Natasha's daughter so what does that make Ethan and Emma" I asked and it looked like something clicked inside Cameron and his face filled with panic. We all turned to Ethan and he just shrugged his shoulders.
"Emma?" Leah whispered and as if to emphasis what we just realised a loud yelling come from the front door and a thud followed a second later by another one. We all ran outside to see Emma standing in a fighting position with a glowing knife in her hand and we watched as one left her hand and landed in the heart of a man dressed in full black. He fell to the floor instantly. She wore a look that could scare the crap out of anyone; it was the same look Cameron got when he was fighting. At various spots in the yard five bodies all sat lifeless. Daniel was standing next to her with a look of aw and shock mixed on his face and a little fear.
"Emma!" Cameron shouted at her, which caught her attention and she threw her last knife at him, if he didn't know what to expect I'm pretty sure he would be dead round about now. She snapped back into herself a second later, she straightened herself from her fighting crouch and looked around the yard. A look of horror crossed her face and she started shaking life a leaf.
"What just happened?"
Ember P.O.V
I stood in front of a set of massive wooden doors with Thomas and Kelly standing next to me one my right. The doors where a beautiful golden brown and the curved carvings in the wood spoke of an ancient language I could never hope to understand. I couldn't explain it but there was a kind of magic that pulsed within them, a hidden secret no one knew about. I couldn't stop looking at them; I wanted to know what power they held. I wondered if Thomas could feel it to or if it was just me, like they wanted only me to know. As I kept looking at the doors every detail started to etch it way in to my memory, the way the grain of the wood went in to the gentle natural curve of the lines.
"Are you all right?" Thomas's voice was right at my ear and I jumped a little when I heard it. I looked at him and he looked slightly concerned. I looked back at the doors expecting to feel the energy again but nothing happened, no strange pulse of power no sense of a hidden secret. I probably just imagined it. This place was messing with my head.
"I'm fine, just a little out of it I guess" I answered simply not really sure if I should tell him or not. Maybe he would think I was crazy or stressed but then again I did have cause to be both of those things right now. He didn't say anything after that and we just waited for the doors to open so that we could finally be let in. It felt like we had been standing there for hours and then finally a set of serious looking guards stepped away from the walls next to the doors and each grabbed a handle and started to pull. I could tell by the strain in their movements and muscles that the doors were heavy. The sounds and noises of the room beyond leaked through the opening of the doors and I was a little nervous to step through the threshold.
"I'll be with you the whole time" Thomas whispered and I nodded my head slightly to let him know I understood what he said. I took a deep breath and walked forward stopping at the foot of the stairs and looked down at the people in the room. They fell silent when we entered and turned their heads our way. They all wore masks to hid their faces and so did we but I could tell they knew that me and Kelly where not from around here. All the men wore the same black masks while the women's matched their dresses. My dress was crimson red. It had a sweet heart neck line and was tight fitting around my torso and then loosened around my legs in an almost mermaid dress style, a black sash was placed just under my bust. My mask was red with black lace over it. Kelly's dress was black and simple, I gold rope tied around her bust area and hang down the back. Her mask was black with gold trimming. Out hair was done natural and down.
"Finally our guest of honour has arrived" Alrick's voice boomed from the back of the room and I spotted him sitting on a black throne decorated with wicked looking metal thorns and dead roses. It looked as if the metal roses had died somehow instead of being made that way; it was as if his very presence had made them wither and die. I glared at him and made my way down the stairs and walked forward to meet him at the throne. The crowd of people parted for us to walk thorough and a few people looked at me with curiosity and some with pity and sadness. I stopped a few feet away from him and bowed down just as Thomas had taught me to. I didn't want to do it but I was scared he would do something to Kelly if I disrespected me in anyway. "You look lovely my dear." he said to me in a creepy sweet voice and then turned to a young girl standing next to him. She was a pretty little thing with her dark brown hair and big brown eyes but she looked scared for her life. "Don't you think she looks lovely my pet" I almost gasped at the realisation that this poor thing was his play thing for the night and I suddenly had the urge to claw his eyes out. I stepped forward fully intent on attacking him in some way when I froze in place and looked at the throne.
"Yes my lord she is the most beautiful in the room" she said softly and turned her eyes to the ground. I wanted to help her but I was still frozen in place. I moved forward a little more and then took a small step back, not enough for anyone to notice but enough for me to notice something strange. The roses on the throne moved when I stepped closer and withered again when I stepped away. I couldn't understand why but I wasn't going to find out in front of this room full of people.
"Thank you for the complement" I bowed my head slightly but did not smile. "you are a very generous host" I wanted to gag back the words and instead tell him to fuck off and let me the hell out of this place but he could and would hurt Kelly if I did that, he could even have her replace the poor girl at his side.
"You are welcome" he smiled and bowed his head in return. "Please do enjoy the party it is of course in honour of you" I wanted so badly to say something, to call him crazy but I just smiled instead and walked off leaving Thomas and Kelly behind. I wasn't supposed to leave their sides but I just needed to be by myself, I needed to think. I walked over to a table filled with glasses and grabbed the closest one. It was sweet like berries but had a strange undercurrent; I guessed it was like a type of wine. I took another big sip and almost finished the cup.
"Whoa slow down there, that stuff can be dangerous" I turned around to see a tall attractive looking guy with blonde hair and the kind of blue eyes you could never forget, kind of like Thomas's well actually exactly like Thomas's. His suit didn't really fit his body well but it wasn't that noticeable. I gave him a sweet sarcastic look and downed the rest of the drink. He laughed and shook his head. "Don't say I didn't warn you"
"And what if I told you that I like danger" I asked him in a serious voice and hoped to hell he didn't think I was flirting with him.
"I would believe you" he smiled at me and he grabbed two glasses and handed me one of them; the liquid was a golden syrup instead of red this time. I took a sip and my taste buds burst with flavour. It reminded me of the stuff Sasha had put in those sweet rolls I had eaten that first week. "So can I have the pleasure of knowing your name" he smiled charmingly at me.
"Ember. And you are?" I held my hand out for him to shack but instead he kissed the back of it. He looked unsure for a moment like he wasn't used to the gesture.
"I'm Isaac. Ember, that's an unusual name but beautiful" he smiled and I looked at him again. I wasn't sure if I should be talking to this guy at all and I didn't want to lead him on if he was trying to flirt with me. There was only ever going to be Seth and no one else but there was something off about this guy like he didn't fit in somehow and I wanted to find out how.
"Yes it is. I was named after my father" his eyebrow rose at that and I laughed "I look like him so that's what my mom named me" I took another sip of the golden syrup. I looked around the room and saw Alrick making his way over to me. I swore under my breath and looked around the room for Thomas, I saw him in the corner of my eye of felt a wave of relief wash over me. I should never have left his side in the first place. "I have to go, it was nice to meet you" I didn't give him time to reply and almost ran over to Thomas. I grabbed his hand and dragged him behind me on to the dance floor.
"What the hell are you doing" he asked with a shocked voice and I didn't answer until I had us a healthy distance away from the direction Alrick was in.
"Dancing what the hell do you think… wait you're not Thomas" I looked at the guy I was dancing with and become confused, this guy looked exactly like Thomas right down to the eyes but he had brown instead or black hair and it was shorter than Thomas's. I scanned the room for the real Thomas and found him standing with Kelly and talking to a young couple.
"No I'm not" I looked back at this guy and gave him a smile "but my name is Levi" I closed my eyes and then looked around the room again and found Alrick standing on the edge of the dance floor glaring at us. I looked away quickly and back at my unknown partner.
"Sorry you just look exactly like Thomas" he rolled his eyes and laughed "I'm serious you could be brothers" actually they could even be twins but I don't remember Thomas saying anything about having another brother.
"I do not look like lord Thomas" it was my turn to roll my eyes, I don't think this guy owned a mirror or he had just never seen Thomas before or even Alrick and was in denial . "And I didn't catch your name"
"Oh I'm Ember" he smiled and span me around the room gracefully "sorry again"
"Not a problem, it's not so bad dancing with someone so beautiful" I gave him a look and he grimaced "sorry that was kind of forward" I laughed and found it was easy with him. This place was so messed up and this one stranger got me to genuinely laugh and I liked the feeling.
"Don't worry but thank you for the compliment" the song stopped and we parted from each other "thank you for dancing with me" I smiled and bowed my head slightly. I did a quick scan of the room again and saw Thomas standing with Kelly and they were looking at me.
"it's my pleasure" he bowed down like a gentleman would but like with Isaac it felt a little awkward and not practiced and now that I thought about it there was something off about this him as well.
I walked away a second later thinking about what it could be when I stared to feel dizzy. My head felt heavy and my vision started to darken. Thomas looked at me with concern and that was the last thing I saw before everything went black…
Tell me what you guys think of this chapter. The good the bad and the ugly but I'm not going to hold back on the next chapter if you guys don't reply. I should have it up in the next few hours or tomorrow.
Lots of love Kimber light.
