"Hey, Raven? Wanna go with us on patrol?"

I looked at Leo as I walked into the living room. I had just left the bathroom after drying myself off. Mikey had gotten me with a water balloon, the first of many that were to come.

"Sure, Leo. Sounds great. Just let me grab my katana before we go."

"Be quick."

I smiled at Leo before running to Raph's room. My katana was by the bed, resting against the bedside table. I quietly entered the room, careful not to wake Raph. He was laying on his side, sound asleep. His arm rested on his side and on his stomach. I thought it he looked adorable. I walked over to the bed silently and grabbed my katana. I fastened the straps, making sure the sheath stayed in place. Satisfied, I gently leaned in and kissed Raph on the forehead.

"Sweet dreams, Raphie."

I left the room as quietly as I had entered and joined the guys.

"All set, Leo. Let's go."

"Great."

Leo led the way out of the lair and up to the surface. We ran through the shadows like the ninjas we were, staying silent and avoiding detection from the few people that still roamed the streets. After a bit, we stopped on a roof and looked around. We spread out so we could cover more. April, who had also come on patrol, stood to my left. I smiled at her before looking over the streets.

The streets were silent. The few people that had been on the streets were now inside for the night. The only movement was the occasional stray cat chasing a rat. I didn't think we would have any action that night, but I picked up sound that the others couldn't hear yet. My hearing was way better than a humans, mainly because I had wolf DNA in my blood. I found that out from Donnie when he asked for a blood sample. He wanted to look at me DNA to see the mutation cells, or something like that. I concentrated on the sound, blocking out everything else. Soon, I could hear that the sound was an argument between two people.

"I can't be havin the guys know I have a kid. That will ruin my reputation, Claire."

"They don't have to know, Slade. I didn't even put your name on the birth certificate. No one knows you're the father and they don't have to know."

"That's not good enough, Claire. My guys are good at finding things out and they know that I'm the only guy you've been sleeping with. They'll figure it out. I have to take care of this before that happens."

"Slade? Wha-what are you doing?!"

"Doing what has to be done, Claire."

"NO!"

A gunshot went off and before the others could react, I ran towards the source of the shot. When I arrived at the alley, I found a young girl, probably my age, lying on the ground. Blood spilled on the ground from a wound in her abdomen. I saw a baby blanket nearby.

Because of my speed, I had made it just as the guy, Slade, was about to round the corner. Unknown fury swelled inside me. Before Slade could get any farther, I jumped down from the roof.

"YOU!"

I grabbed Slade from behind and slammed him into the wall. I heard his back crack from the force, but I wanted him to feel pain.

"What the fuck is your problem?! Who the hell are you?!"

Slade, who must have been a few years older than me, struggled in my grasp, but I didn't loosen my grip.

"What the fuck do you want?!"

"I want the baby, scumbag. Where the shell is the baby?"

Slade smirked at me, making me feel sick to my stomach.

"The little pest is gone. It can't ruin my reputation anymore."

He started to laugh some what maniacally. I felt my skin burning as my anger grew. I slammed Slade against the wall again, feeling satisfied when I heard his head crack against the brick.

"No one cares about your fucking reputation, jackass."

I threw Slade to the ground, kicking him in the stomach. As I did so, I felt eyes watching me. I knew the team was watching, but I couldn't understand why Leo wasn't doing anything. I pushed the thought away as I heard Slade cough.

"My guys will find you and then you'll be sorry you ever crossed me."

I glared at Slade before kicking him in the face. He fell unconscious immediately. I tied him up in chains and the went over to the girl, Claire. She was still bleeding but it looked like the bleeding had stopped a bit. After Raph got hurt, I carried thick gauze and medical tape in my belt. I folded a thick pad of gauze and taped it tightly over the wound. It helped for the moment but Claire needed to be taken to the hospital. I turned my attention away from Claire for a second, but in that second, Claire stirred. I quickly turned to her. Her face was screwed up in pain, but she managed to speak.

"Wh-where's my baby?"

I wasn't sure what to tell her since I didn't know.

"I'll find your baby. Just save your strength."

Claire started to cry a little, making me want to find her baby even more.

I got up and started to look around the alley. I picked up the baby blanket and held it as I looked. Closing my eyes, I concentrated my hearing and listened. After a bit, I heard it. The slightest cry of a baby who really wanted his mommy. I snapped my eyes open and ran to the nearest dumpster. Throwing open the lid, I frantically tossed garbage to either side of the dumpster. Then, I found him. A baby boy with black hair and blue eyes was crying, covered in dirt and grime. I jumped in, not caring about the grossness of the garbage, and carefully picked the baby up. He was shivering, so I wrapped him up in the blanket. He warmed up and started to calm down. I gently rocked the baby and then jumped out of the dumpster. Tears pricked my eyes at the fact that someone would treat a baby like that.

I brought the baby over to Claire, who had her eyes closed and slightly screwed up in pain.

"Claire? I found your baby. He's alright."

Claire's eyes shot open at the mention of her baby. She tried to sit up, but I pushed her back down.

"Easy. I know you want your baby, but you have to stay down."

Claire huffed but stay down. I then carefully placed her baby on her chest. Claire wrapped her arms around her baby, making soft noises that calmed him down completely. I smiled at the sight. Then, at that moment, bright flashing lights lit up the alley. Sirens wailed too and I knew that cops and medics would be at the alley soon. With one more look at Claire and her son, I climbed up a nearby fire escape, where my team was waiting.

When I was back with the team, it felt a little awkward. I didn't really meet anyone's eyes. I looked at Leo, nervous of how he was going to react. He didn't look mad or anything bad. He looked at me and just nodded. He understood why I did what I did. I smiled and nodded back. Leo then walked away, followed by everyone else. I followed last, casting a glance back into the alley. The police and medics had arrived at last. Slade, who was still unconscious, was put into an ambulance, a cop car right behind. Claire and her baby were being lifted into another ambulance. I felt relieved that they were in good hands and went after the others.

We patrolled for a few more hours, stopping the occasional mugger and destroying some kraang as well. We were starting to head back towards the water tower when a scream erupted into the night.
"Another one? You'd think there'd be a limit to how many bad guys we have to stop in one night."

"I know you're tired, Mikey. We all are. But let's just take care of this last one and then we can go home."

"Alright, Leo."

We all ran towards the source of the scream. A man was being mugged by four guys in an alley. Nothing unusual. I started to unsheathe my katana, but stopped. The man looked familiar and as I looked closer, fear and anger pricked my heart. The man was the scientist who had given me the scar on my face. He was the one who tormented me more than any of the other scientists. He looked frail, small and weak. Exactly how I was. I replaced my katana and watched.

"Raven? We have to help that guy. What's wrong?"

I looked over at April, who looked concerned and curious as to why I wasn't doing anything.

"He is what's wrong."
April looked confused. "What do you mean?"

"He's the scientist that gave me the scar on my face. He's the one that tormented me more than the other scientists. He's a monster who doesn't deserve any help. He's getting exactly what he deserves. Let's go home."

I turned away from the scene in the alley without another word. I felt tears run down my face at the memory of the scientist, a mix of fear and joy. Karma had finally played it role. By the time we got back to the lair, it was really late. I called Maggie, letting her know that I was spending the night at "April's". Like always, she let me.

Raph was still sleeping when I entered the bedroom. I closed the door quietly, careful not to wake Raph. I gently sat down on the bed and took off my boots. I set them down by the bedside table, next to my katana. After, I took my mask off and placed it on the table. With a yawn, I settled down into bed, drawing the blanket over Raph and me. Before closing my eyes, I placed my hand under Raph's, which still rested on his stomach. A kick hit my hand, reminding me of the lives within. I smiled softly. Sleep washed over me, making my eyes close. As I drifted deeper into sleep, a thought ran through my mind. Don't worry, babies. I'm not gonna let anything bad happen to you. I will protect with my life. That is a promise.
