Nico

Nico had no clue were Percy was. That was the main problem. But in a small place like this, it shouldn't be to hard. But he didn't know if Percy would show up or if Nico would have to go door-knocking.

He sighed and prepared for the long search when a growl was heard behind him. He spun around and faced a huge dog in a fighting stance. The dog's fur was night-black and if Nico hadn't been able to see it's eyes, he would've thought it was a hellhound.

But as it was, this dog (or maybe more like a wolf now when he thought about it) had dark brown eyes. Maybe it was just an unnaturally big wolf? He got startled out of those thoughts when the wolf leaped at him. He barely got out of the way.

With a smooth move he unsheathed his sword and the wolf's eyes widened almost comically. Nico wondered if the animal could feel the air of death that surrounded the blade. He was just going to lunge at the wolf (because even if it was just an ordinary animal, it had attacked him) when a yell brought him out of balance.

He turned around, with the wolf forgotten and gazed right into the eyes of another one. Nico took one step backwards but the new wolf growled at him and narrowed its eyes.

"Hold on, Jacob, Sam!" The voice yelled again and now Percy got into Nico's line of sight. The older teen ran towards him, but Riptide wasn't in his hands which was unusual for him. He used to come prepared to a fight. Or, at least with some kind of weapon with him.

"What are you doing here, Nico? I thought you were staying in New York." Percy asked, slightly out of breath and ignoring the threat of the big dogs.

"Maybe we could talk about that later, Percy." Nico said through his teeth and eyed his opponents instead of Percy, and therefore missing his eye-roll.

"Nico, they're not dangerous. For us!" He added when the rust-colored wolf grumbled at him. Nico hesitated with his sword still pointing in the direction of the wolf. "For the love of Aphrodite, Jacob back down and Nico, put that sword of yours away. You could kill him!"

Nico watched with confused eyes as the wolf took a few steps back, blocking Percy's body from Nico. How could Percy have such control over the animal?

"Maybe you and Sam should change", Percy said with a sigh, "I don't think he will relax until you do." Nico narrowed his eyes. What did Percy mean by that? And Percy must have seen his doubt because he gestured at him to come closer.

"If you could come here while Jacob changes form and then we could go over to Sam's and talk. There is a lot of things I have to tell you."

Jacob

Jacob didn't like the new kid. He was almost skeleton thin with dark bruises beneath his eyes and his skin had a sickly pale color. But even looking like that, the first thing Percy said when they started talking for real was, "Your looking good Nico."

How was it even possible to see something good in that? And then it was the gazes. When Percy wasn't watching, Nico looked at him with those unnervingly dark eyes and Jacob didn't like it at all. It felt like Nico would try to steal Percy away from him. Jacob tried to tell himself that Percy wouldn't care about Nico, that if he had wanted to be with him he wouldn't have stayed here with Jacob.

But it was hard when he smiled his beautiful smile at the kid. Because who could blame him if he wanted to be with someone less dangerous than Jacob? Someone more familiar? Jacob wouldn't. Even if it would smash his heart to pieces. He couldn't keep Percy from being happy and if he was happy with Nico, he would let him go. Not only because of the dream he had had last night. No, Percy's father he could take. It was just that he didn't want Percy to chose him because of his imprint. He wanted Percy to chose him because he wanted to be with him.

He sighed and continued his walk to Sam with the boys right behind him. Sam had left them right after Nico had been established to be a friend. Right now Jacob wished he hadn't disappeared. Sam was always doing such a good job at calming him down.

Jacob was buried so deep in his thoughts that he didn't noticed they had arrived until he got nudged in the back by Percy.

"Hey Jacob, we're here." He flinched and stared at Percy with wide eyes. How could he have been so unaware of his surroundings? Percy smiled fondly at him and he could feel warmth spread through his body. Maybe he wasn't screwed after all. Maybe he was just overanalyzing things like usual.

He gave Percy a smile in return and grasped his hand when he extended it. Yes, he had to be overreacting.

Percy

It was nice to talk to Nico again after such a long time without any contact. They hadn't even talked often before Percy ended up here and that was almost a week ago. Wait, hold that thought. Had he just been here for a week? It felt longer. Especially considered how comfortable and safe he already felt around Jacob. And then it was everything else that had happened.

Like all the gods showing up. Percy wouldn't be surprised if Hades decided to pop in to say hi now. Maybe to threaten him or tell Nico something. Anyway, he wouldn't be surprised. And also, right now he was kinda embarrassed for his dad. He had never appeared in a dream like that to threaten Annabeth when they had been together. So why was Jacob different?

They hadn't really talked about their shared dream. Percy hoped that Jacob thought that was the only thing it was, a dream. That Percy's father hadn't decided to visit just to give him 'the talk'. How embarrassing wasn't that?

So he ignored it and later it was buried beneath the feeling of meeting Nico again. But after a while he noticed that Jacob kept avoiding him. He walked ahead of Percy and Nico on their way to Sam and didn't acknowledge them in any way. And then the dream resurfaced. Maybe it had spooked Jacob more than he had previously thought.

When they arrived at Sam's house, he walked up to Jacob and nudged him. But he didn't react like Percy had thought he would. Jacob flinched and jerked his head around to look at him. Percy couldn't help but smile at him, he looked so adorable with the 'deer caught in headlights' eyes.

Jacob relaxed visibly and smiled back at him when he saw who had poked him, and Percy held out his hand. The feelings that flashed in his eyes was fondness and, was that relief? Did he think Percy would leave him? Because of his dad? Or, maybe it was Nico's sudden appearance?

Percy squeezed Jacob's hand tighter. He would never leave him, he just had to show Jacob that. That he wanted to be happy here, with him. All he needed was the opportunity to make their bond grow. And he wouldn't rest before he found the solution.
