Naruto groaned violently and rolled out of bed. There was a horrific thump and crack, Naruto when he rolled off his bed had slammed his head into the bucket positioned near it.
Blearily he got to his feet before clutching his head in agony, he remembered entering the Kunai with Harry and Kakashi-sensei but not much else. He staggered into the shower and after much groping around he managed to turn on the shower and the water cascaded down.
After showering he staggered into his kitchen clad in just shorts to find Kiba, Shino and Hinata in his kitchen "You look like shit." Stated Kiba.
"I look worse than you smell dog boy. I swear Akamaru's better groomed than you are. Now what are the three of you doing in my shitty apartment? Not that its unpleasant to see you?" Grumbled Naruto has he slide by Shino to get to his fridge to pull out a carton of milk.
"It's in date Naruto-kun. We found your loose change and Shino nipped out to get you some bread, milk and some staples...Plus Tsunade-sama told us to get you...Something about getting rid of a hatchet."
Naruto inhaled deeply cracked his neck, popped the lid a drank deeply from the carton "Thanks and you're supposed to be my escort, let me grab a shirt then lets go."
Naruto found himself in the Hokage's office with Kakashi who looked hungover and a smirking Sakura. "I not having any crap from you three during this meeting, it's only because of the Elders that I'm doing anything about this..."
"...Otherwise you'd be either drinking or with Minato and Izuna." Finished Jiraiya bounding into the room through the window.
Tsunade snarled at her team mate "Naruto I've heard from Jonin Hyuga Neji that you and chunin Haruno came to almost blows because of different attitudes to concealing information on how to combat tactics and disobeying orders."
Naruto shook his head "I changed Tsunade-Sama-Obaachan as did Sakura but myself more than her in my opinion. She thinks..."
"YOU WILL BRING SASUKE-KUN BACK!"
Naruto eyed the busty kage "This is what I've put up with before and after sensei's training...Sorry about not looking my best..."
"Learning from the bottom of the bottle and spending time with my cute grandchildren...Naruto-kun, I was told to give you this...Its from a friend of yours."
Naruto's eyes widened, he didn't have many friends and even fewer of them ever contacted him regularly and this one bore an insignia only Kakashi recognised; Harry would have but he was sleeping on the sofa with a freshly fed pair of twins and daughter at this particular moment.
It appeared Kurenai had told him of an A-ranked mission and since Asuma was out of town Harry was baby sitter. Shizune rolled out of bed and headed downstairs to see Harry curled up and being used as a pillow. He didn't stir as Shizune kissed him, she knew that Harry and Kakashi could only properly relax when they were in the clan house due to its immense amounts of seals.
Naruto pocketed the letter bowed "Lady Tsunade I promise to try and work with Sakura better in the future."
"No Naruto the fact is I've been following your reports from Jiriaya, from the moment from you come back from your downtime head to T&I."
Kakashi who had been heading towards the office leant by the door "to T&I!" He quickly pieced the information together, someone was being inducted into the ANBU.
The door opened and Naruto left with Jiraiya "Kakashi-sensei how are you?"
Kakashi grimaced slightly "Slightly sore head...Harry and Shizune are still asleep. I'm here to get a mission who was needed to head to T&I?"
Kakashi stared "Naruto! You! In ANBU! Congratulations thats another tradition of Team Seven that was started with Jiraiya-Sama and the Sannin, my sensei was the ANBU of his genin team and myself mine and you yours...Though what is going to happen is you'll be shown around and then assigned an ANBU mentor or two. You'll then be assigned a plain clothed uniform where you're to be expected to treat the mission with proper seriousness and no deviatation from goals..."
Naruto nodded "I'll try not to let you down."
Kakashi grinned "You haven't and you never will."
Meanwhile back in the office Tsunade and Sakura had activated the privacy seals and the kage tore into her second apprentice.
Kakashi, Jiraiya and Naruto headed out of the Kage tower "The letter, an unspoken rule amongst ANBU as long at it holds no classified information you have the obligation to inform us so we can help defend you..."
"And make jokes at your expense." Finished Jiraiya.
Naruto opened the letter
Naruto, Fu; She's been taken...Red Clouds on Black Cloaks, this was four days ago. Shibuki, Head of Takigakure no Sato.
Harry handed the note to Jiraiya and Kakashi "Who is Fuu? Not someone you got pregnant because that leads to complications between villages."
"She's like me...I found her being harassed by her team mates on a mission and Jiraiya and myself intervened...They completed the mission and Fuu's reputation began to skyrocket. Fuu began sending me notes thanking me about how her reputation in the village was skyrocketing. Then she stopped messaging me around four days ago."
"If she was taken by the Akatsuki four days ago. They tend to take their target two days away. The jutsu which I recognised as a hidenjutsu of the Uzumaki clan Nine Phantom Dragons is a three day long jutsu...The only reason I intervened so recklessly was because the jutsu had just began..."
Jiraiya nodded "I'll send the response just saying Naruto's not in the village at the moment. Will notify Shibuki."
With that Jiraiya vanished and Naruto let out a sigh "Thank Kami it was Taki not Yuki...Stuff may have happened their on the training trip."
Kakashi grinned at his pupil's evident discomfort and for the sake of not traumatising him let it lie "Doesn't mean his squad mates won't."
