Chapter 14
The next day...
The Pokemon League Stadium was packed with fans, each one ready to see the crowning of a new champion. Some brought signs and t shirts supporting the person they wanted to win. "Welcome to the finals of the League Championship!" The announcer said, bringing waves of cheers from the crowd. "Now before we crown the champion, let's hear it for our previously eliminated trainers!" The crowd cheered as Nathan, Rob Lobster, Kevin, Hansel, Jandro, and Tommy walked out of the tunnel and sat in six empty seats that sat only a few feet from the battlefield.
"And now! Get out of your seats from our two finalists, Corey and Keem!" The announcer said as the two trainers walked out of opposite tunnels and to their respective sides of the field. The two rivals stared each other down, just like the day before. Only this time there were no smiles, just two looks of determination, both trainers wanted this, they both needed it.
"And lets get things started! Trainers, release your first pokemon!" The announcer said, causing the crowd to erupt in applause. "Go Gyarados!" Corey said releasing the gigantic water type. "Go Kabutops" Keem said releasing the water/rock type.
Gyarados opened its mouth and shot a blue flame at Kabutops, almost immediately after the Dragon Rage hit, a green aura surrounded Gyarados and green energy transferred from the water type to Kabutops. Gyarados retaliated by crashing its tail into Kabutops with a Reversal.
Kabutops right arm glowed white as it took a Slash at Gyarados, who responded by spitting up a purple liquid on Kabutops. It looked as if the shellfish pokemon had been poisoned by the Toxic attack. Gyarados then shot a stream of green flames at the water/rock type, Keem sighed in relief as the Dragonbreath attack didn't paralyze his already poisoned pokemon.
A beam of ice shot out from Kabutops mouth and hit the water type. Gyarados let out a roar of pain before trying to Headbutt Kabutops, who leaped over the water type, however, after landing Kabutops dropped to one knee, the poison was doing major damage.
Kabutops eyes glowed white as giant chunks of ice crashed into Gyarados. The Blizzard did a lot of damage to the water type who looked like it didn't have much left. The dragon opened its mouth to reveal an orange beam of energy, Gyarados launched the Hyper Beam at Kabutops...who dodged at the last second and took a final Slash at Gyarados.
The water type crashed down to the ground, knocked out. Kabutops went to raise its arms in victory as the announcer called it, "Gyarados is knocked out, Kabutops wi-" The announcer said before Kabutops also crashed to the ground. "Round one is a tie! Trainers return your pokemon and release your pokemon for round two" The announcer said.
Both trainers returned their fallen pokemon and released another, "Go Jolteon" Corey said, releasing the electric type. "Go Electabuzz" Keem said, releasing an electric type of his own.
"Start it off with Thunderbolt!" Both trainers yelled. Black clouds covered the blue skies over the stadium and bolts of lightning hit the battlefield as both pokemon struggled to dodge the bolts.
"Now, Quick Attack!" Both trainers yelled. Keem had a smirk on his face as both pokemon collided. "Now Electabuzz, Dynamic Punch!" Keem said as the electric type cocked its fist back.
"What is Keem thinking?" Tommy asked. "Jolteon is crazy fast, he'll be able to dodge that attack easily." Jandro was the first to notice Keems plan, "Just sit back and watch" He replied.
"Jolteon dodge it" Corey said, but Jolteon didn't budge and it took the hit head on. Thats when Corey noticed the small sparks of electricity covering Jolteons body. "Electabuzz's ability" Nathan said from the sidelines. "Thats right, Static. Once they hit each other with that Quick Attack, Jolteon became paralyzed." Kevin said as Rob Lobster and Hansel started having a jumping jack contest.
"Electabuzz, now use Hyper Beam!" Keem commanded. His pokemon opened its mouth and shot an orange beam of energy at Jolteon, hitting it dead on. "And it looks like Jolteon is barely hanging on! Has Keem found a way to defeat Corey?" The announcer said, hyping up the crowd.
"Not yet" Corey said, before giving a command, "Quick Attack" Jolteon used its speed to ram into Electabuzz, catching everyone off guard. "Now, Double Kick!" Corey said as Jolteon used its hind legs to kick its opponent twice. Sparks came from Jolteons body, signifying that it was once again paralyzed.
"Now finish it with Thunder" Keem said, the crowd watched in awe as lightning crackled in he clouds above before shooting down and hitting Jolteon! "Call it ref! He's done!" Keem demanded. "I cant, not until the dust clears and I can clearly see that its knocked out." The ref replied. "It was a dead on hit and it was barely hanging on beforehand" Keem argued.
"Jolteon, Double Edge" Corey said to everyones surprise. The electric type darted out of the cloud of dust, before Keem could retaliate Jolteon tackled Electabuzz, knocking both pokemon out.
"But how?" Tommy asked as both trainers returned their pokemon. "Electabuzz isn't the only one with an ability. Volt Absorb really saved Jolteons ass" Jandro explained. "Keem must be getting frustrated, theres no other way he'd forget about that." Nathan said.
"Go Rhydon" Corey said, releasing his third pokemon. "Unfortunately for you, this is where I take the lead and run away with it. Feel destruction, go Tyranitar" Keem said releasing the massive pokemon.
