Percy Jackson loved music. He was good friends with Will Solace, so he had to love music. The son of Poseidon was excited about this song that the 'Downloader' had put on his phone, but a bit fearful. He didn't want to relive his life.

Even Annabeth gushed, though quietly, about her song. And Annabeth Chase does not gush.

So Percy turned on the song.

Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

Percy shrugged his shoulders. This was the type of music Nico and Thalia loved.

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band

Percy remembered the war going on underwater, his father the ultimate warrior. Percy saw all the armies of sea mammals and mermaids in straight lines like a marching band, but with sullen faces.

He said, "Son, when you grow up,
Would you be the savior of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?"

Percy promised Luke he'd always protect those who were forgotten, hated, and left for dead. And Percy has tried, and succeeded.

He said "Will you defeat them,
Your demons, and all the non-believers?,
The plans that they have made?

Percy has always had inner demons. The whispers of insecurity, the voices who mumble, 'You won't win this battle, Jackson.' But the son of Poseidon ignored those broken thoughts and always defeated who or whatever was against him.

Because one day I'll leave you
A phantom to lead you in the summer
To join the black parade."

He always tries to show those around him how much the loved them, because by the end of the summer he could be a phantom, mingling with the rest of the black parade, never to return.

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band

As a little boy, Percy's mother had taken him to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and he watched at the big balloons, flying so high up in the air. He wondered if he could ever be so strong, yet soar so far up in the air.

He said, "Son, when you grow up,
Will you be the savior of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?"

Percy remembers Annabeth, bleeding to death by a poisoned dagger, watching her slowly break. All he wanted was to save her.

Sometimes I get the feeling
She's watching over me

As a child, Percy didn't understand where his father was. He always seemed to be there.

And other times I feel like I should go
And through it all, the rise and fall
The bodies in the streets
And when you're gone,
We want you all to know

When Percy is dead, he prays he won't be forgotten. He can't have what happened to his generation to happen again.

We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me,

In Tartarus, Percy and Annabeth didn't want their friends to grieve if they didn't come out alive. They needed to (and could have) save the world.

Your memory will carry on, will carry on
And in my heart I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it

The demigods sang songs of heroes' journeys at campfires, but Percy knew for a fact that one song can't explain all the struggle one half-blood could go through.

A world that sends you reeling
From decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all

Percy didn't want to save the world just for himself and the people he loved. No, he also did it for the broken dreams of past demigods who've tried and failed to become heroes. They deserved it.

So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end we hear the call
To carry on

The seven and Nico fought to the brink of destruction at the Doors of Death, battling until every monster was gone.
We'll carry on,
And though you're dead and gone, believe me,
Your memory will carry on, will carry on
And though your broken and defeated,
Your weary widow marches

When everyone thought Percy was dead when was living at Ogygia, he hoped that they would carry on, fulfilling his memory.
On and on, we carry through the fears
Oh, oh, oh
Disappointed faces of your peers
Oh, oh, oh
Take a look at me 'cause I could not care at all

When Percy first arrived at camp, he ignored the snickers and back-handed comments. He knew he'd be someone someday and that they would regret it.
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart

Percy made a promise to Annabeth that he'd never leave her. He'd never let the world take away his heart, and his heart is Annabeth.

Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we want to play this part

All demigods wanted to become heroes, and were instantly jealous of Percy. But all Percy wanted was to be them, and not have the weight of the world on his shoulders.

I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar

Scars lined Percy's arms and legs on the first day back at school. He wore shorts and a tee shirt. He wasn't ashamed of all he went through to stay alive.

Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's who we are

Percy ignores the bullies at school; making fun of him because he's different. He's who he is, a son of Poseidon.

I'm just a man; I'm not a hero
Just a boy who had to sing this song
I'm just a man; I'm not a hero
I don't care

Percy wished campers wouldn't just see him as the hero of Olympus but as just simply Percy. He was still only a teenager.

We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me,
Your memory will carry on
You'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated,
Your weary widow marches on

The seven went through way too much to be forgotten and ignored. They would do anything to make sure demigods of the future would carry on their memories.

Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, (we'll carry on) we wanna play this part
Do or die, (we'll carry on) you'll never make me
Because the world (we'll carry on) will never take my heart
Go and try, (we'll carry) you'll never break me
We want it all, (we'll carry on) we wanna play this part

Percy sighed and replayed the song, melancholy. He needs to find this 'Downloader'. He would be a great friend.

...

Will Solace's hands were shaking, after realizing he'd finished the last person.

It's time.
