I was absolutely thrilled. Elijah was back. My brother was back!
"You look surprised to see me." Elijah noted as I stood beside. "Though not as surprised as I was. How is it that Danyelle walks among us?"
"We don't know the exact reason." I replied. "But I am not a vampire."
"We have a lot to discuss." Klaus declared before Elijah leapt at him and began to hit him. I was enjoying this. I wish I had popcorn. "You know you have every right to be mad at me, but I kept my word. I reunited you with our family."
Elijah hit him more some more. Klaus opened one of the boxes. The brother inside didn't look familiar.
"Don't make me do this to you again, Elijah." Klaus threatened.
"Enough!" I declared as I cast a spell to make the dagger burning hot. Klaus immediately dropped it to the floor and then I put it back in.
"You'd rather not deal with Kol." Elijah replied.
"Mikael is dead." Klaus remarked. Why did he have to remind me?
"What did you say?" Elijah asked.
"Papa is dead." I repeated.
"I killed him with his own weapon." Klaus added as a tear fell from my eye. "He's gone Elijah forever."
"Why does our family remain in these boxes?" Elijah asked. I was wondering that myself. "Finn for 900 years, Kol for over a century."
"Because of Stefan Salvatore." Klaus answered. Yes, Stefan was very annoying. "He holds the one thing keeping me from freeing them. There are things that you don't know about our past, our mother's deaths. Things that I did not want you to know, but I'm ready now. I only ask that you remember the oath of loyalty that you and Rebekah once swore to me: always and forever. I need you to stand by my side. I need both of you to stand by my side. Help me."
"No one gets hurt then." I bargained.
"I promise you that our family will be whole again if you help me get it back." Klaus declared both he closed the box on Kol. Where was he keeping Rebekah?
I headed home after that. I was still going to have Anna go on our morning jog.
"So Damon set Elijah free last night." I told her as we ran.
"I always liked Elijah." She admitted. "He is an honorable man."
"Anyway Klaus promised to release the rest of my family if we helped him get the coffin back." I stated.
"Something tells me that Stefan and Damon aren't just going to hand it over." Anna told me.
"I'll have to find out a way to negotiate." I responded.
At that moment, my phone rang.
"So you know that medical examiner that died?" Jeremy asked. "Well the sheriff said that he was killed with one of my family's weapons."
"That's weird." I replied.
"It gets weirder. The only fingerprints on it are Elena's." Jeremy added. I don't think Elena killed him.
"Don't gloves hide fingerprints?" I asked as I received another call from Elijah. "I have to go."
Elijah wanted me to meet him somewhere.
"I will see you later." I told Anna.
I went to a field to meet Elijah and came across Damon,
"My favorite Original, back from the dead." Damon remarked. "You clean up nice."
"You left something in my pocket." Elijah noted as he pulled out a piece of paper.
"Ah yes, Dear Elijah, let's get together about the destruction of your brother." Damon stated. I can't believe that they still wanted to kill him. "Was I right to undagger you?"
"Well I'm here. Let's talk." Elijah responded. "First order, do you know anything about the reason for my sister's resurrection."
"No." Damon answered. "So do you know what kind of Klaus killing weapon is in the mystery coffin?"
"I don't." Elijah replied. I wasn't sure of the point of this then. "I do have a suggestion."
"What is it?" Damon asked.
"You and your brother can come meet me family for dinner and we can discuss an agreement that would help both of our sides." Elijah offered. That sounded like it was a good idea. No one would get hurt.
"We'll be there." Damon promised. I wasn't sure how he was going to be able to convince Stefan of that.
"I'll be there too." I agreed.
I needed to find something nice to wear to the meal. I couldn't help but notice that Elijah seemed to have a thing for suits. Klaus seemed to have a thing for designer clothes as well. I guess when you're alive as long as they are you start to learn that only the best will do. I went through my closet and found a black lace short-sleeved dress which I paired with black tights and a black bow.
"What are you so dressed up for?" Anna asked.
"Dinner with my family and the Salvatores." I answered. "Which reminds me you need to put a dress on. You're going to be my plus one."
"I really wish that you would stop bringing me to these things." She muttered.
"Hey, I'm letting you wear your own clothes this time." I remarked. "Lose the attitude."
After she was dressed, we went to the Klaus's manor.
"You brought a guest." Klaus noted.
"I figured that this was the safest place that she could be." I responded. At that time, the Salvatores arrived.
"Niklaus, our guests have arrived." Elijah declared.
"Damon, Stefan." Klaus greeted them. "Elijah tells me that you seek an audience. You're very bold. Let's discuss the terms of our agreement."
I noticed that Klaus had compelled some women to serve the food. Did he know how to cook himself?
"It's better to indulge him." Elijah declared before we all took a seat at the table.
"I didn't come here to eat, Klaus." Stefan stated. "In fact, I didn't want to come here at all. I was told I had to because you would hear us out."
"Well we can sit and eat or I can reach down your throats and pull out your insides. The choice is yours." Klaus replied.
"Are you trying to make us lose our appetites?" I asked my brother.
The food was very good. Everyone seemed to like it except for Stefan.
"Eat." Damon ordered. "I thought we agreed that we would leave the grumpy Stefan at home."
"Isn't this nice?" Klaus asked after Stefan relented. "We're all dining together. It's such a treat. Is this what you had in mind when pulled the dagger out of my brother?"
"I already knew how I felt about you, so I figured the more, the merrier." Damon replied.
"Well Elijah and I have had our share of quarrels over the centuries, but we always make it through." Klaus replied.
"Kind of like you and Rebekah, right?" Stefan quipped. They had a lot more time to get to know Klaus than I have. I thought he was an ass. "Where is she by the way? Last I checked she was still daggered because you were afraid to face her."
"If you're referring to the fact that Rebekah knows I killed our mother, I've already come clean to Elijah." Klaus declared.
"Hey Stef, remember when you killed Dad?" Damon asked. "You might want to dial the judgmental dessert."
"Do you have any apple pie?" I questioned Klaus, wanting to change the subject.
"No, but I will send for one." Klaus declared.
"We have a long evening ahead of us." Damon told his brother. "Pace yourself."
"Stefan, where is the lovely Elena tonight?" Elijah asked.
"I don't know. Ask Damon." Stefan responded. Klaus couldn't help but chuckle. It wasn't exactly funny.
"I'm sorry, you missed so much." Klaus replied as he stopped. "There's trouble in paradise."
"One more word about Elena and this dinner is over." Stefan told them. I guess it was a touchy subject.
"How about we keep Elena in the do not discuss pile?" Damon suggested. That would be good. I did not want their drama.
"It's just the allure of the Petrova doppelganger." Klaus stated. "What do you say, Brother? Should we tell them about Tatia?"
"Why should discuss matters long since resolved?" Elijah asked, somewhat flustered.
"I'd like to know." I admitted.
"Well given their shared affection for both Elena and Katerina, I thought our guests would like to know about the originator of the Petrova bloodline." Klaus replied.
"We're not going anywhere Elijah." Damon remarked as he lifted his glass up. "Please do tell."
"When our family lived here, there was a girl named Tatia. She was an exquisite beauty." Elijah explained. "Every boy of age desired to be her suitor even though she had a child by another man. None loved her more than Niklaus."
"I'd say that there was one who loved her at least as much." Klaus argued.
"So both of you loved this girl?" I asked in surprise. Maybe that's one of the reasons why they are prickly toward one another.
"Our mother, like our sister, was a very powerful witch." Elijah continued. "She sought to end our feud, so she took her. Klaus and I later learned that it was Tatia's blood that we consumed on the night our mother performed the spell."
"She did that?" I asked in surprise. I really haven't heard a lot of good things about my mother since I came back.
"But in the end, we recognized the sacred bond of family." Klaus explained.
"Family above all." Elijah toasted. Klaus toasted it as well. I guess I should.
"Family above all." I replied before we drank.
After a few minutes, Klaus's servant women took our plates.
"Now how about we move along with our deal?" Elijah suggested.
"It's very simple." Damon proposed. "Klaus gets his coffin back and he and the Original extended family leave Mystic Falls forever."
"No." I responded.
"Blondie gets to stay, and me Stefan and Elena live happily ever after, no grudges." Damon added.
"Deal sounds fair, Brother." Elijah commented.
"I don't think you understand." Klaus replied. "Elena's doppelganger blood insures that I will always have more hybrids to make. I will never leave her behind. Say I do leave her here, under your protection? What then? How long before one of you turns her into a vampire or worse how long before she dies caught between your feuding? You see, each one of you truly believes that you're the one that can protect her. Gentlemen, the worst thing for Elena Gilbert is the two of you."
"I'm gonna get some air." Damon announced. He probably realized that my brother was right.
"Let me deal with this." Elijah remarked, following him.
"All this talk has made me thirsty." Klaus replied as one of the girls walked over to him. "What do you say Stefan, can I interest you in a little after dinner drink?"
Klaus then bit into her neck. He continued until he was done. Luckily, she was still alive and I was able to cast a spell to heal her.
"Well, I guess the only reason that you agreed to this evening, Klaus, was to drive a wedge between me and my brother." Stefan, stated as he got up.
"I'd argue that Elena has already done that." Klaus responded. "I think you're doing that well enough on your own and it's all your fault."
At that point, Damon and Elijah walked back in.
"What do you say Klaus?" Damon asked. "It's time for you to put someone on the table. What's your counteroffer?"
"I offer Elena's future happiness." Klaus responded. "You see what she needs right now is to rid of you lot and to fall in love with a human, maybe that nice football player, Matt."
"He's taken." Anna said. Those were the first words that she said all night.
"Or someone else." Klaus continued. "They will marry, live a long and fruitful life and pop out a perfect family."
"And continue the Petrova bloodline." Stefan realized. "Every few hundred years, you'll have a new doppelganger to drain and never ran out of hybrids."
"Consider it a return on my care for her wellbeing." Klaus stated. "You see after you hand me back the coffin, I'll protect her for the rest of her natural life. You know it's what's best for her. So what do you say, Stefan, do we have a deal?"
Klaus held his hand out and Stefan walked over and shook it. I wasn't expecting that.
"Nice try, Klaus, but no deal." Stefan replied. That was less surprising.
Klaus then grabbed Stefan and put his hand in the fire. Damon tried to stop him, but Elijah stopped him instead.
"STOP!" Damon demanded.
"Now bring me my coffin before I burn him alive." Klaus threatened.
"I'll get it." Damon remarked.
"Go with him, Brother. You keep him honest." Klaus instructed. "When you return, I will hand over our family."
Damon and Elijah walked away.
"You said no one would get hurt." I replied in disappointment. I was about to take Anna and leave before Elijah and Damon returned.
"Why haven't you left?" Klaus asked our brother in confusion.
"Where are your manners, Brother? We forgot dessert." Elijah stated before he revealed two daggers on a tray.
"What have you done?" Klaus asked in surprise.
"What have you done?" Elijah countered. "You I've learned not to trust your vulgar promises, Klaus. We're doing this on my terms now."
At that moment, Kol stepped out.
"Long time brother." Kol replied. Then another raced over.
"Finn." Klaus noted before Finn stabbed him through the hand. Rebekah then came and stabbed him in the stomach. I decided I would throw him into a wall. I was glad that my family was back.
"This is for our mother." Rebekah said.
"You're free to go." Elijah told the Salvatores. "This is family business."
"Anna, go with Damon." I instructed. "I'll meet you at home."
The three of them then left and my sibling began to beat on my half-sibling.
"I like what you've done with the new place, Nik." Rebekah commented.
"I wanted it to be for all of us." Klaus stated. "A place we could all call home and be family. None of us would ever have to be alone again."
"You're right, none of us will be." Elijah replied. "We're going to New Orleans without you. Won't come with us, Danyelle?"
"I don't know." I replied.
"We're leaving right after I kill that doppelganger wench." Rebekah responded. "Then you will be alone, always and forever."
"If you run, I will hunt all of you down." Klaus threatened.
"Then you'll become our father." Elijah replied. I decided to stand by my family. Jeremy probably wouldn't want me if Rebekah kills Elena anyway.
"I'M THE HYBRID!" Klaus yelled. "I SHANT BE KILLED. I have nothing to fear from any of you."
"I can kill you." I responded. "I just need to figure out the spell."
Suddenly the door opened and I was in shock.
"Mama." I replied. How was she alive?
She walked over to Klaus. Klaus began to cry.
"Look at me Niklaus." Mama ordered. "Do you know why I'm here?"
"You're here to kill me." Klaus replied.
"Niklaus, you are my son." Mama responded. "And I here to forgive you."
I did not see that coming.
"I want us to be a family again." She said.
So now all of them are back. Dani is going to learn more about her resurrection and there is going to be a ball. Plus she will bond with her siblings some. Please don't forget to review.
