Why Have You Made My Love Untouchable?

After Lukana's pain had subsided, Mikulia coaxed her to sleep by stroking her paling fragile face and after getting the tailor as comfortable as possible, Mikulia reluctantly left the basement and made her way to the library to see if her hunch was a possibility.

"I don't know if the baby hurting Lukana is even possible, but for her sake, I have to find out what's going on."

Once inside, Mikulia began to look for books on the subject of pregnancies. Finding a few, the peasant sat at one of the large tables and began searching through the large books hoping to find information that could explain what's going on with Lukana and the baby. A while later, Gumina and Meilis walked in, looking surprised to find the tealette behind a small wall of books.

"Mikulia what's going on?" the brunette asked. Mikulia ceased her reading and looked at the two women. "The baby kicked again and Lukana got bruised again. Right now, I am starting to wonder…" the peasant paused as Gumina and Meilis joined her at the table.

"Mikulia what are you wondering?" Gumina asked. The tealette took a deep breath. "Do you guys think it's possible for an unborn baby to be angry with its mother?"

Gumina and Meilis were silent for a while. It was clear that they both found Mikulia's question ridiculous, but at the same time, they found it possible. After a while Gumina and Meilis began looking through the books that Mikulia had pulled out.

Over the course of the next few weeks, Lukana's condition continued to worsen; the baby still grew despite Lukana's inability to keep any food or drink down. When Mikulia wasn't doing research, she was watching over her dying friend. By this point, Lukana's condition had gotten to the point where the tailor could do nothing on her own. She needed help dressing, bathing, even something as simple as sitting up was impossible for her.

It was clear that at this point, Lukana would soon die if the problems with her pregnancy weren't figured out and taken care of.

. . .

One night while getting Lukana to bed after a bath, fresh dress and clean sheets, Mikulia received a completely unexpected request from the tailor.

"Mikulia, will you please bring my husband down here? I want to talk to him."

The tealette slowly nodded. "Of course Lukana, I'll be back."

As soon as Mikulia left, Lukana pulled down the blankets and gently placed her hands on her stomach.

"I need to try one more time…to get him to love the baby."

. . .

Mikulia walked around the mansion until she found Sateriajis in the kitchen drumming his fingers on one of the counters.

"Duke, Lukana wants to talk to you." She said softly. Sateriajis remained silent until he finally spoke. "I don't see why Lukana would want to talk, but I'm sure it's about that baby." As Sateriajis left to the basement, Mikulia was left hoping that whatever her friend wanted to say wouldn't upset her husband any further.

. . .

Sateriajis walked into the basement and slowly walked over to Lukana's bed, and was quite surprised at his wife's condition. Once he was noticed and after helping her to sit up, Lukana took a deep breath.

"Duke, I'm not saying this because I want to, but it's because I have to. I've finally come to realize that keeping you away from the baby just because I thought you would get rid of it if it was a girl was really stupid and selfish of me. So I just wanted to apologize."

Sateriajis was completely appalled by this. He was about to yell, but a sudden feeling in his heart changed his mind. So instead he gently took her frail hand.

"Lukana, why the hell would you think that? Despite how I have been feeling towards it, I would never get rid of it believe it or not."

He then kissed her hand. "I'm sorry I've been so angry. Whether or not you told me why, I should have been supportive anyway."

Suddenly the pain in Lukana's stomach started to slow down.

"This entire time you were trying to tell me that you were getting angry."Lukana thought as she finally realized her mistake was also affecting the baby. She felt a slow movement causing her to look at her husband. Without saying anything, she took her husband's hand and slowly brought it to her stomach.

"The baby wants to talk to you now."
