Clary's POV
"It means fearless." Clary murmured resting her head lightly on his shoulder.
"Well that's certainly one thing you are!" Jace told her. She felt him smile against her head.
They sat like that, her head on his shoulder, in companionable silence for a while before she felt Jace lightly brushing his fingers down her jaw and then he lightly twisted her head towards him till they were facing each other.
She looked straight into his eyes. And saw them following the shape of her face. She slowly lifted her hand and ran her fingers across his cheekbones, his skin soft and golden. Her hands were shaking slightly as she traced the planes of his face as he sat there-looking directly at her the entire time.
She watched as he moved his face closer to hers and she dropped her hand down into her lap. All the while lifting her head, waiting for the moment their lips would meet and the sparks would explode, behind her eyes, again.
"Dinner!" Isabelle yelled knocking loudly on the door. "Is it safe to come in? Have you finished?" Clary heard her laugh through the door.
"You've always had the best timings Isabelle!" Jace called back as he stood up and held out his hand to Clary. "Wait you haven't made it have you?" He asked laughing, as he continued to hold onto Clary's hand as they walked over to the door.
Clary felt the butterflies in her stomach. Were they a couple now? She'd only known him a day. It felt right. She was conflicted. She knew she liked him, but she didn't want to get attached, especially after what happened...
She knew her past definitely didn't bother him and that surprisingly made her feel good. That he didn't care and her past didn't seem to affect him in anyway shape or form.
Pulling open the door Jace held it open and stepped through, still holding her hand. Clary saw Isabelle dig Alec in the ribs and nod towards their hands and it made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. A good warm and fuzzy feeling!
"So. I hope you haven't knocked over all the shelves with your passionate making out!" Isabelle grinned.
"Nope. There all still standing for you and Simon." Jace replied.
"Ha di hah!" Isabelle smiled. "And in response to your previous question. No I haven't made the dinner I got take out from Taki's." She stuck out her tongue. "Apparently they

Woolsey Scott to bring it." Clary could
have
sworn Isabelle shuddered slightly at this but no sooner had she thought this then there was a deep ringing sound.
"Doorbell." Isabelle explained.
Clary began following a grinning Isabelle and Jace down the corridor, towards the front door, Clary looked behind to see Alec deep in thought.
Pulling back from Jace and gesturing him to carry on she turned to Alec. "Hey Alec. Are you coming for dinner?" She asked smiling encouragingly at him.
"Oh yeah. Sorry I was just thinking. Got lost in my head!" He smiled, and if Clary had known him better she would've noticed the strange sadness that haunted his eyes but she didn't appear to notice, as he began to follow them all slowly down the corridor.
Clary managed to find her way down back to the front door just as Isabelle pushed it shut passing Jace a large bag, steaming slightly with the heat of the food inside.
"I wasn't sure what you'd like so I got a load of things." Isabelle explained turning around and heading through one of the many doors, the one she went through to get them drinks earlier, so Clary assumed this one lead to the kitchen.
Jace stood and waited until she was next to him before he embraced her in a tight hug.
"You okayy?" He asked looking down at her concern in his eyes. Alec slid round them and followed Isabelle down to the kitchen.
"Yeah. I'm fine!" She assured him wrapping her arms around him and hugging him tightly back enjoying the feelings of comfort she felt wrapped up tight with him. He made her feel safe. Even if she knew barely anything about him it felt right. Like they were meant for each other.
"Oi! Are you two coming?" Isabelle yelled.
Jace planted a kiss on Clary's cheek making her blush as he took her hand and they half ran down the corridor and slid into the kitchen as she giggled like a school girl.
"Urgh guys seriously stop!" Isabelle smiled at them as she got out some plates and began to arrange the food on them.
Clary noticed Alec turn away from them and grab some glasses and a pitcher of water and almost run out the room.
"Is he alright?" Clary asked creasing her eyebrows in concern.
"Who?" Isabelle asked. "Oh Alec? Yeah he's fine probably just tired."
Isabelle didn't seem to notice anything wrong and she was Alec's sister so Clary assumed she was right.
Jace's POV
"Who?" Isabelle asked. "Oh Alec? Yeah he's fine probably just tired."
Jace knew better than that. He'd known Alec a long time and they were basically brothers, he knew something was wrong so he decided to go check it out and talk to Alec.
"I'm just gonna go check on him." He said slipping his hand out of Clary's and following Alec out.
He heard Isabelle begin talking to Clary again as he walked down the corridor but they grew fainter as he reached the dining room.
Alec was standing arranging the place mats rather viciously, slamming them down on the table.
"Woah, woah. Alec man. Chill out. What's wrong?" Jace was instantly at Alec's side removing the remaining place mats from his hand and sitting him down in a chair.
"Nothing's wrong! Go away! " Alec snapped back.
"Seriously. You expect me to believe that! Man we've been friends for like ever! I think I know when something's wrong. So what is it?" Jace , shocked,
pulled out the chair next to Alec and sat down turning the chair so they were opposite each other.
"Like I fucking said nothing's wrong!" He snapped again.
"Alec, chill out, man I'm sorry. For fucks sakes I was just worried about you!" Alec was starting to annoy Jace now.
"Well don't be it's none of your fucking business!" Alec's tone shocked Jace, and he snapped, yelling back.
"Well I think it is my fucking business when you act like this! All pissing annoying and moping around? I'm trying to be nice!"
"Fine you want to know what's fucking wrong?" Alec spat.
"No I thought I'd fucking ask for fun! Of course I want to know!"
Jace had never seen Alec like this before, it worried him a little. Not enough to stop him yelling back but a little voice in the back of his head was telling him to stop, but he ignored it.
"I hate how easily you've been taken in by her!" Alec gritted his teeth. "How do you know she's telling the truth? You've known her for a fucking day! I don't want to see her break your heart!" Alec stopped abruptly. Breathing heavily.
Jace stood for a moment incredulously. "For fucks sakes. Is that it you don't think she's telling the truth!? Okay well if you've seen her telling you the story-crying? No I didn't fucking think so. There's no way she's bullshitting! So butt the fuck out!"
Clary's POV
"I'm just gonna go check on him." Jace said as he slipped his hand out of Clary's and followed Alec out.
"So if you could just pass me that plate?" Isabelle asked Clary pointing to a plate just next to Clary.
"Sure." Clary grabbed the plate and passed it over to Isabelle. Who tipped some noodles out a box from the bag from Taki's.
"Can I do anything to help?" Clary felt awkward standing there as Isabelle bustled around her sorting out the dinner.
"Oh no you're fine!" Isabelle smiled as she lined up plates and cups.
"No seriously. What can I do?" Clary insisted.
"Fine." Isabelle smiled. "Can you take these through to the dining room please?" She pointed at the empty plates and cups.
Clary picked up the cups and plates then she realised she had no clue where she was going.
"Where's the dining room?" She asked, feeling a little bit stupid.
"Down the corridor and it's the second door on the right." Isabelle smiled at her before turning around and putting all the rubbish back into the bags.
Clary walked out the door Jace and Alec left out of. There was a door almost instantly on her left and then one on her right. As she almost reached the second door she heard raised voices yelling.
"I hate how easily you've been taken in by her!" She recognised Alec's voice. He sounded really angry as if he was gritting his teeth. "How do you know she's telling the truth? You've known her for a fucking day! I don't want to see her break your heart!" She heard Alec stop. She realised he was talking about her! He didn't believe her. She slumped down onto the floor. She realised she knew this was going to happen again. No one would believe her.
Then she heard Jace reply. "For fucks sakes. Is that it you don't think she's telling the truth!? Okay well if you've seen her telling you the story-crying? No I didn't fucking think so. There's no way she's bullshitting! So butt the fuck out!"
Okayy so I didn't really like Alec in this chapter, he doesn't hate Clary he's just jealous Jace likes someone else.
Reviews? They don't take long and they make me feel like you actually want me to continue with this? Do you? :)
