Chapter 14

Teddy and Amy rushed to where their family was and told them what was going on. They brought Teddy to Denver General Hospital and she got checked in. She and Spencer went up to her room while the Duncan's brought the kids back home.

"Spencer, when is the doctor going to come?" Teddy said waiting impatiently.

"Teddy you know he isn't your regular Doctor. He has a schedule like other other doctors." Spencer said slightly annoyed because his wife asked that at least ten times in the last two minutes. A couple minutes in the awkward silence later the doctor walked in.

"Hello Theodora, I'm Dr. Smith." The doctor said coming in.

"Hi I'm Teddy and this is my husband Spencer." She said shaking his hand.

"Well Teddy on this clipboard here it says you are eight months pregnant and your bleeding?" The doctor examined while sitting on his stool.

"Yes, I went to the bathroom and I had to pee and I looked down and I was bleeding." Teddy explained with a tear running down her face.

"Shh honey, it's okay." Spencer said wiping her tear.

"Okay, well." The doctor said clasping his hands together. "I'm gonna take a quick ultrasound to see how she is doing and then we can know what's exactly going on." The doctor put the cool gel on Teddy's enlarged stomach and looked up on the screen.

"Well Teddy it looks like the babies are-." Dr. Smith started.

"Hold up, did you say babies? My OBGYN said I'm only having one." Teddy and Spencer exclaimed confused.

"Oh yes! Your OBGYN was wrong! See two heads, one baby, girl, second baby, boy! Except we do have a problem with your boy..." The doctor said scratching his head.

"What's wrong with my baby boy?" Teddy just Found out she was having another baby but she was already in love with him.

"Well it seems that you are developing Preeclampsia, a rare case found in woman who are carrying more than one baby."

"Is she and the babies going to be okay?" Spencer asked concerned.

"That's what I'm looking at, I'm gonna let her do a urine test and we can test it and see if she has protein in her urine, if she does then she will be admitted to the hospital."

"Wait, so I can't have my babies in California?" Teddy asked.

"Teddy, I'm going to be honest with you, if you don't stay here your blood pressure will continue to rise, especially on a plane, and you and your babies will be put at risk of death." The doctor told them bluntly.

"Now! I will need a sample of your urine, so I will send a nurse who will you a cup to pee in." The doctor left the room.

"Spencer! Me and my babies can die!" Teddy said sobbing into her husbands shirt.

"Shhh honey, it's going to be okay. Just rest. Worrying will put you in a worse state. I'm gonna go tell my parents what's going on and I will be right back. Get some rest by the way. Love you babe." Spencer said assuring her.

"Love you too Spencer." Teddy said soon drifting off to sleep. A couple hours later Teddy woke up seeing a urine bottle on her bedside. She slowly got up and used the bathroom, she called the nurse back and the nurse took her urine sample and gave it too the doctor.

Teddy picked up her phone and dialed her brother PJ's number.

"Hey Teds!" PJ said happily into the phone.

"PJ! I might have protein in my pee!" Teddy said starting to cry.

"Okay...is this some sort of prank phone call?" PJ asked confused.

"No you idiot! I'm in the hospital in Denver because I might have Preeclampsia."

"Preeclamp-a what now" PJ was truly confused.

"PREECLAMPSIA! It's a disease that pregnant woman get and I-I can die from it PJ, I'm so scared."

"It's going to be okay sis, your strong and I know you will pull through. I'm actually coming to Denver next week so I will make sure to see you."

"I have another surprise PJ." Teddy started.

"I have to go Teddy, I-"

"I'm having twins. And the surprise baby is the one that is having trouble though."

"Wow Teddy! Congrats! He or She will pull through!" He replied happily.

"He will PJ." Teddy said looking up. "I have to go, my doctor is here. Bye."

"Bye!"

"Oh, so I look like a doctor now huh?" Spencer said walking in.

"Oh haha it's you! Stop wearing white in a hospital, the rooms and doctor coats are already killing me, I don't need you wearing white!" She laughed.

"Hello Teddy! How are you feeling" Dr. Smith said looking at his charts.

"It will depend with what you tell us doctor. Do I have Protein in my urine?" Teddy replied.

"Unfortunately, you do, and it isn't looking to good for your baby either."

"So, what's next?" Spencer asked.

"Well, if your wife's blood pressure keeps increasing then we will have to jumpstart her labor and she could have the baby earlier that her due date." The doctor said firmly. "Teddy, are you okay? You're looking a little pale."

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just need to think." She said quietly.

"Okay well, if you have any questions just ring me up and I will be right here." Dr. Smith got up to leave the room, "don't worry to much Teddy."

"Spencer." Teddy started crying into her husbands shirt.

"Shh, Teddy it's going to be okay." Spencer said holding her blond curls and rubbing her head. "They are both going to be fine."
