Chapter 14: Return of a Cheater
AN: Seriously, only one person guessed who my special guest was? I'm disappointed. Allycat, you were right, it was Weevil.
Tai and the others continued to slam the doors, in hopes of opening the doors.
"What the hell is going on?" Tai demanded.
"Everyone this way." Travis ordered coming up from behind as he Yusei, and Greiger showed up.
"Travis, what's going on?" Yuko asked.
"Several electronic locks are going off all over the arena." Travis explained. "Security can't even get in."
"Any other way in?" Tai asked.
"Not unless you want to jump over the wall with our Runners." Yusei said sarcastically.
"Or, isn't there a service entrance they use under the stadium so maintenance can get to the ground duel fields without problems?" Tai suggested, trying to avoid the fact that he really wanted to do that in front of his mother.
"Hey that's right." Grieger said in realization.
"Let's go." Yusei said.
Akiza couldn't believe what she was seeing, a series of bombs went off, and now webbing was covering the exits.
"Now this isn't something you see every day." Sayer commented offhandedly.
"What should we do?" Akiza asked, worried.
"Nothing, this doesn't concern us." He said calmly.
Leo was trying his hardest to pull his sister out of some webbing she got caught in. He pulled hard enough, and Luna was launched onto Leo, causing her to land on the Morphtronic Monster user.
"What's going on here?" Tanner asked, pulling Yanagi out.
Near where Tai and Yusei's friends were sitting, a web covered door was burst open by a back pack welding torch, held by one Hunter Pace.
"Anyone need a hand?" Hunter asked with a bit of smugness in his tone.
"Ok not to sound ungrateful but why do you have a welder and why are you still here?" Tanner asked confused.
"In that order, I was away from civilization for a long time so I stashed some tools with me so I could fix my runner when needed." Hunter said with his usual flare.
"And two?" Yolie asked flatly.
"They're going to hold a losers bracket so I got a second shot." He said with a smug look on his face.
"Right now, I want blood for the collective assortments of bastards who did this to my hair!" Mimi shouted as a massive amount of web was caught in her hair.
"That is some unrivaled girl rage right there." Tanner whispered to TK fearfully. TK could only nod.
"There's only one bug in existence with the motive, balls, and gall to pull off a stunt like this." Hunter said, flicking his nose. "Weevil Underwood."
"Who?" Leo and Luna asked.
"HYO HYO HYO!" A rather high pitched voice shouted over the high jacked intercoms. "Ladies and gentlemen, now for the final duel of the Fortune Cup!"
"What hog wash is this?" Jack asked both angry and confused.
"I had nothing to do with this." Lazar said, equally confused.
"Well it looks like the new Master of Ceremonies has made his appearance." Yusei said flatly, knowing the voice from the old duel tournament tapes he used to watch as a kid.
"It's Jack Atlas versus Weevil Underwood." The man said as a hologram appeared over the stadium, revealing a man in a cloak. However the most noteworthy thing was his rather large glasses that let off a sinister glare.
"I'd sooner give my title to a mentally challenged kindergartener who didn't know what cards even are, than you Underwood!" Jack shouted with some amount of controlled rage using a megaphone Lazar had for some reason. "Plus if memory serves, you're the first person in existence to have a life time ban from all forms of official Duel Monsters Tournaments after the fiasco with the Kaiba Corp International Pro Duel Cup Twenty years ago!"
"Who is this guy again?" Leo asked confused.
"Weevil was at one point the best insect using duelist during the original days of Duel Monsters, however it was revealed he cheated his way to the top more than once, and his popularity sunk faster than a stone." Hunter explained.
"Like how you ran over Shira?" Dexter asked with a raised eyebrow.
"In my defense, I wanted to earn my place at the top back, not go as far as Underwood did." Hunter explained, trying to hide the fact he wanted to duel Atlas right from the start. "He's been known to alter his opponent's deck before the match starts and they don't even know it."
"How do you know so much?" TK asked skeptically.
"Because, the first tournament I ever took place in was the one Weevil got his life ban from." Hunter said, having a flashback.
-Flashback-
A teenage Hunter had his duel disk on facing off against his opponent from France. Hunter had Infernal Flame Emperor (LV 9 2700/1900) on the field while his opponent had Exxod, Master of the Guard (LV 8 0/4000) in defense mode.
Hunter: I had just started my pro career and you can imagine I was nervous, however, my nerves were instantly switched to shock as I couldn't activate my Spell and Trap Cards, only to find out, it wasn't just me.
Hunter's opponent switched Exxod into attack mode with the intent of playing Shield and Sword, while Hunter tried to activate Magic Drain. However, neither disk responded.
Hunter: As it turned out, Weevil brought a ring with a unique electromagnetic signature in it that messed with a duel disk, making it so no one could use spells and traps. However the contraption backfired, instead of using it messing with his opponents duel disk it messed with every duel disk within three miles.
Weevil was being chased by not only security, but several participants, civilians, and random pedestrians who were affected by this.
Hunter: As it turned out, the ring boosted through a nearby antenna relay, they say if it was on any longer, Weevil could have taken out power in all of Japan for months.
-End Flashback-
"Now that little bug thought it would be a good idea to crash the Tournament completely." Tanner finished.
"I figured you would say that Atlas, so I've come up with a little incentive." Weevil said, he moved to the side, revealing a bomb.
"If you don't accept my duel in 1 hour, I'll blow up this arena." Weevil commented.
"What's that thing filled with, green gelatin?" Jack asked dryly, not believing Weevil's threat.
"Let's find him and kick his face in." Mimi roared, heading out to find this bug.
"We're right behind you." Hunter said, following Mimi. He then turned to everyone, "Twenty steps behind her." He whispered.
"Good plan." Yanagi replied.
"You're not going to give her any power tools, right?" Leo asked terrified.
"Not even I have a death wish." Hunter replied.
Several minutes later Yusei's team was entering the service entrance, and noticed webbing all over the area. Sora was separated from the others as she tried to follow her own set of directions.
"Weevil was here, no doubt about it." Grieger commented.
Tai nodded, seeing their entrance blocked, and hoping Kari and the others were safe. Only it was at this time, a series of robotic spiders dropped down and latched on to everyone.
"This seems violent." Yuuko cried.
"Just wait until Atlas shows up," Weevil said from on top of a nearby pillar.
"Yeah, so I can kick his butt." Jack said, coming from a pathway with Mina and a handful of sector security agents.
"I really love the fact Lazar had a backup elevator in Goodwin's box for emergencies." Jack thought.
"Well, well look who finally showed up." Weevil cackled, activating his duel disk, which was revealed to be the original Battle City style. The duel disk itself looked patched up way too often, rusted, and random amounts of duct tape on the main device. However the most striking feature was a large green ring with the Sector Security logo on it. The life point counter was also cracked. "And you don't have a choice Atlas, my duel disk is outfitted with the same hacker command ring as Sector Security, forcing you to duel, and should you surrender, it sets off the bomb."
"You stole from Security?" Mina demanded in a violent tone, as several agents got into position after freeing Tai and the others.
"Not another step forward, or I push this button, and we all go." Weevil said, revealing a detonator.
"I see one flaw with your plan Underwood, my duel disk is still on my runner." Jack pointed out.
"Huh?" Weevil asked. "This thing is supposed to force someone to duel the active duel disk within a hundred feet, and it's locked on to someone's disk.
"We didn't bring our duel disks in fear of activating the bombs." One security agent said.
"I'm in the same boat as Atlas." Tai said.
"Seconded." Yusei said.
"What they said." Greiger commented.
"Mine's upstairs." Travis said.
"I don't even own a duel disk." Yuuko asked.
"Then whose duel disk is Weevil attracting?" Jack asked confused. Their answer was quickly answered as Kari came through with her now active Duel disk. She was looking at the device as to why it had activated and wandered off from the rest of her team.
"Oh, I can come back." Kari said realizing the situation.
"Oh come on." Weevil groaned.
"Wait isn't she?" Jack thought. Then he got a somewhat crazy idea, but it would be his security's only chance to defuse the bomb.
"If you can beat her in a duel Underwood, I'll accept your challenge." Atlas said, pointing to Kari.
"What!?" Everyone asked/demanded in shock.
"Sure, I have faith in the girl." Jack said, pushing Kari forward. He then leaned in closer and whispered. "Kid, listen just duel Underwood the best you can so Security can defuse the bomb."
"I've never dueled before and you want me to duel an ex pro?" Kari whispered harshly. "Why don't you use my deck to duel him?"
"I have my pride as a duelist, plus I wouldn't be caught dead with a deck without my Red Dragon Archfiend." Jack countered.
"I'll kick you in the balls later." Kari said, with anger, realizing there was no other option.
"I accept these turns." Weevil said, "It will be a quick warm up before I defeat Jack Atlas."

"Since chivalry is dead, I take the first move!" Weevil said drawing.
"Wait until I have five cards you freak." Kari said, drawing quickly.
"I summon a monster in defense mode and place a card face down." Weevil said, quickly playing his cards.
"Mr. Atlas, is this really a good idea?" Mina asked.
"Do we have a choice?" Jack asked. Just then, a lead pipe slammed onto Jack's head.
"Jack, this is my mom." Tai said with a laugh, enjoying the punishment his mom was dealing.
"Your mother?" Jack questioned, dodging another swing.
"You think it's a good idea to get my daughter involved with a nutcase with a bomb?" Yuuko demanded.
"Should we stop her?" One of the security members asked.
"You want to?" Another asked sarcastically, taking a look at the bomb.
"Alright, it's my turn." Kari said, drawing. "I play the field spell Sanctuary in the sky," Kari explained. "Now all battle damage through fairy types is reduced to 0." The area around everyone turned to a majestic castle in the sky.
"Good thinking opening up with some defense." Grieger admitted.
"Maybe not." Yusei said. "If Weevil hasn't changed his playing style since his old days, it won't help Kari."
"Next I play the continuous spell card Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen." A large gate appeared behind Kari. "Now, so long as I don't have any monsters on the field, I can special summon 1 fairy type from my hand." Kari pulled one out from her hand. "Like my Shining Angel in defense mode. (LV 4 1400/800) Kari summoned a man with tan skin and angel wings.
"Now I summon the Agent of Creation: Venus in attack mode (LV 3 1600/0) Kari summoned a woman in a red robe with matching wings. "Venus attack his face down monster." Venus charged with staff in hand.
"Nice try rookie, but I play my facedown card, A feint pain, now you can't attack any face down monster on my field for the rest of my turn." Weevil cackled.
"I guess I end my turn then." Kari admitted.
"Finally." Weevil cackled, drawing. "I reveal my facedown monster, Parasite Parricide (LV 2 500/300) Weevil's monster was essentially an overlapping series of red and green worms with a spider sticking out of it.
"That thing is gross!" Yuko shrieked.
"It's about to get worse." Yusei commented.
"You ok, I know you're afraid of bugs." Tai asked.
"Shut up." Yusei ordered with an uncomfortable look on his face.
"Now for my monster's special effect." Weevil cackled, "If it's still on the field after its flip summoned, my monster is shuffled into your deck." The monster jumped into Kari's deck and shuffled. "Now once you draw my monster, my parasite will instantly summons itself to your field, and all monsters on your field are treated as insect types."
"That's not good." Yuko said fearfully after she stopped hitting Jack.
"It's about to get even worse with my Reckless Parasite Spell Card." Weevil said, activating a card. "Now Parasite Parricide is forced out of your deck in attack mode, and each of your monsters are given an infection counter."
"So, what's the difference?" Kari asked.
"Any monster with an infection counter can't be sacrificed for an advance summon, ritual summon, or used in a synchro summon." Weevil explained.
"Wait, what?" Kari asked as the Parasite took to the field and covered her two monsters with its tentacles, leaving them with grotesque insect features.
"That's sick." Tai said grossed out.
"Now I summon Ultimate Insect LV 1 in attack mode. (LV 1 0/0)" Weevil summoned a strange, small spiked larva like creature to the field. "I end my turn with a facedown card."
"Ok, then." Kari said, drawing. "I summon my Freed The Brave Wanderer in attack mode (LV 4 1700/1200). A man with long blond hair and silver armor was on the field, only to succumb to the same issue as her other monsters. "Next I switch my angel to attack mode, and I think it's time to call in the exterminators."
"Kari don't." Yusei shouted, instantly remembering this combo of Weevil's.
"Freed, attack Weevil's monster!" Kari ordered, not listening to Yusei.
"Nice try kid, but I play my facedown card, Insect Barrier." Weevil cackled, activating the famous spell.
"Insect Barrier?" Kari asked.
"So long as this card is on the field, you can't attack with an insect type monster!" Weevil laughed.
"I end my turn by switching Parasite and Venus to defense mode." Kari said, doing just that.
"Ha, ha, my match with Atlas is coming up sooner than expected." Weevil said drawing. "Since it's my Standby phase, my Insect evolves into Level 3." (LV 3 1400/900) In place of the first insect, was a larger variation with bigger spikes. As it took to the field, Kari's monsters were covered in a toxic sludge from the insect.
"Now what's happening?" Kari asked.
"As long as my ultimate insect is on the field, all your monsters lose 300 attack points." Weevil cackled.

"Next I summon Insect knight (LV 4 1700/1500) in attack mode." Weevil had summoned a humanoid cricket in with a shield and sword.
"Now my monsters, destroy both her monsters in attack mode!" Weevil bellowed. Insect Knight destroyed Freed, while Ultimate Insect destroyed Shining Angel.

"Since you destroyed my Shining Angel, I can summon one light attribute monster from my deck with 1500 or less attack, and I choose my Ancient Dragon (LV 4 1400-1100/1300) in defense mode." Kari's choice was a large gold colored dragon, which fell prey to Parasite's effects.
"I end my turn with a facedown card." Weevil cackled.
"It's my turn." Kari said drawing, liking the card. "Weevil, you said I can't with my monsters so long as they have infection counters on them right?"
"Yeah." Weevil commented.
"First," Kari said, selecting a different card. "Since Sanctuary in the Sky is on the field, I can special summon the Tuner Monster, The Agent of Entropy- Uranus in attack mode (LV 5 2200-1900/1200). Kari's choice was a dark attribute and colored man with raven wings on its back.
"Another insect for your field." Weevil taunted.
"Not anymore!" Kari shouted determined.
"Huh?" Weevil asked.
"I play Counter Cleaner, now by paying 500 life points, all counters are removed from the field." Kari explained. (KLP: 2900) A vacuum version of Pot of Greed appeared and inhaled over the monsters, returning them to normal. "Now since they aren't insects anymore, my Agent can destroy your Ultimate Insect." The fallen angel monster flew to the sky with an energy sphere in hand.
"I play my facedown card, Pawn Takes Attack!" Weevil revealed. "When I have less monsters than you, I can tribute one and end the battle phase." Weevil's knight disappeared in a flash of light.
"Fine, I'll end with a facedown card." Kari said.
"And since it's my turn." Weevil commented drawing. "I can send level 3 Ultimate Insect to summon Ultimate Insect Level 5 (LV 5 2300/900) in attack mode." Weevil's new insect was a cross between a cicada and a spider. "And just like his previous form, my insect takes away your monsters attacks points, only this time 500 of them!"

"Next I summon Pinch Hopper in attack mode (LV 4 1000/1200)." Weevil's next insect was a large grasshopper. "But don't worry little girl, this bug is the least of your worries."
"Oh he wouldn't." Tai paled.
"He would." Yusei agreed, seeing a similar combo before.
"I play Multiplication of Ants." Weevil said, inserting the spell card. "Now I tribute my Pinch Hopper to summon two Army Ant tokens (LV 4 500/1200)." Weevil's tokens were two green ants.
"Why get rid of your monster so quickly?" Kari asked.
"To go with Pinch Hopper's special effect, when it's sent to the graveyard for any reason, I can summon any insect in my hand." Weevil cackled happily. "Like the Diva of my deck, Insect Queen (LV 7 2200/2400)." Kari could only look as a massive spider/ cicada hybrid, took to the field with a humanoid face.
"Now for every insect on the field, is 200 attack points my monster gets!" (2200-3000) Weevil cackled loudly. "However, my queen needs a sacrifice in order to attack." Insect queen grabbed the last token and ate it, leaving behind a sickly green glow on the ant's body. (3000-2800)
"Oh that's just sick." Kari said, disgusted.
"Insect queen, destroy her Agent of Entropy!" Weevil demanded. A sick green energy blast destroyed the dark attribute angel.

"Now, I get an insect token since her majesty destroyed a monster, (LV 1 0/0)" An egg came out of the queen, disgusting everyone further. "Ultimate Insect, attack the agent of Creation!" The Ultimate insect slashed the angel in half.

"Thanks Weevil, now I can activate the trap card, Heaven's Judgment!" Kari said, revealing her trap.
"What?" Weevil demanded.
"Now since you destroyed my Fairy Type monster, I destroy a monster on your field, and slam you with 200 life points times your monsters level, so goodbye Insect Queen!" Kari explained, as a bright blast of light, coming from the sanctuary, destroying the queen.

Weevil was silent, and then he chuckled darkly. "You think that's it?" Weevil demanded he took a card from his hand and revealed it to Kari, it was Ultimate Insect LV 7. "On my next turn, my Ultimate insect will be at its most powerful, taking 700 of your monsters attack and defense points, so make your next move count!"
"Alright," Kari said, taking a deep breath, "It's my turn!" Kari drew her card, revealing another Agent.
"This isn't going to help," Kari thought, "All of my monsters will be turned to insects, and their isn't away to stop his monster from getting stronger." She sighed, then she reread the card effect, and shouted triumphantly. "The parasite changes the type, not the effect!"
"What?" Weevil asked confused.
"I summon the Agent of Mystery- Earth ( LV 2 1000-500/400) in attack mode!" Kari summoned a pale purple skinned woman with green and blue robes and wings, only to be turned into an insect.
"So that's supposed to stop me?" Weevil cackled.
"Not without some help she's not." Kari explained. "When she's summoned, I can add an Agent to my hand, but since Sanctuary in the Sky is out on the field, I can add a different monster instead." One card popped out of Kari's deck. "Meet Master Hyperion."
"Cute, but that monster's level 8, and you can't summon any more this turn." Weevil cackled. "And even if you could, that parasite will prevent you from tributing."
"Only with card on my field." Kari corrected. "I can special summon Master Hyperion by removing on Agent monster from my field, in my hand, or in my graveyard." Kari pulled out The Agent of Entropy-Uranus out of her graveyard, and summoned an armor plated man with solar flares for wings. (LV 8 2700-2400/2100)
"Cute, but my insect barrier is still in effect." Weevil commented.
"I didn't say I was done." Kari said firmly. "On the turn he's summoned, Master Hyperion can destroy one card on the field, but with my Sanctuary on the field, I can destroy two, in exchange, I have to remove 1 light attribute fairy type monster for each card."
"WHAT?" Weevil demanded. Kari pulled out both her last Agent and her Shining Angel. Master Hyperion raised his hands and destroyed both Ultimate Insect and Insect Barrier, returning the monsters to normal attack points.
"NO!" Weevil screamed.
"First up, my Agent destroys your token, and my master destroys the rest of your life points!" Kari explained. The two converted monsters took flight and took Kari's orders.

Weevil tumbled over, and his cloak came off revealing not only a sophisticated machine and a massive amount of cards, but also what was left of Underwood. He was now incredibly fat and had no hair on the top of his head.
"Dude, bug boy really let himself go!" Tai laughed, falling to the ground.
"Hey Jack." One of the security agents said. "Do you remember that joke you told us about green gelatin?"
"I was right?" Jack asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No, not green, cherry." They said with a laugh.
"From what I can tell," Mina began, looking over the apparatus in Weevil's cloak. "This device is designed to send certain cards to the top of Weevil's deck."
"He cheated and I still won?" Kari asked confused.
"Uh, this doesn't look good for me, does it?" Weevil asked sheepishly. His response was two security agents grabbing him by the upper arms.
Later, Davis and the others met up with Tai and co.
"You beat an ex-pro?!" Davis shouted confused.
"I'm just as surprised as you." Kari admitted.
"You did good, kiddo." Tai admitted proudly.
Just then several Sector Security agents came in. "Miss Luna, we were asked by Director Goodwin to escort you to the arena." One said.
"Uh, why I lost my duel?" She asked.
"You've been selected for a special second chance bracket and you are the only one scheduled to duel today for it." Another answered. The grabbed Luna and took off.
"Hey where do you guys think you're taking my sister?" Leo demanded.
"Let's go find out." Travis said with a dark tone.

Effect: Activate only if you have less monsters on your field than your opponent when they declare in attack. Send one monster on your field to the grave, end the battle phase.
Name: Heaven's Judgment
Type: Counter Trap
Effect: When a light attribute fairy type monster on your field is destroyed in battle, destroy one monster on your opponent's field of your choice. Your opponent loses 200 life points x the destroyed monster's original level.
And done, next up is Luna's duel and a quick one-shot break from the fortune cup. Honestly I was thinking either Kari or Ken to duel Weevil this chapter, so I coin flipped it. Anyway, don't forget to review.
