Sorry for the delay, I decided to change a few things. I don't own anything.
Chapter 14
"I want to meet her." Blaise told me, sitting down in the chair, which was right in front of me.
I jumped at his sudden appearance. "Who do you want to meet?" I asked confused looking back at the book in front of me, which was open on an image of a banshee. He wanted to meet one of those?
"Your sister." He answered, confused by my disgusted face.
"Oh." I answered thinking back on the conversation we had four days ago. "Of course you will." I nodded.
"During the Easter holiday." He continued.
I shrugged. "Are you sure?"
"Yes. We talked Saturday, and I thought about it a lot since then, and now that I know why you never opened your pretty mouth, there's no point delaying it."
I laughed out loud and got a glare as well as a harsh "Shush" from Madam Pince. "Sorry." I waved, smiling, while Blaise shook his head at me.
"Crazy. You're crazy."
"I am not. You just made me laugh and that woman is always in an awful mood."
"Maybe Filch doesn't take good care of her." Blaise smirked while I closed my eyes, disgusted.
"You're utterly disgusting. Merlin, I'll never take that image out of my head."
"Lucky you, this Saturday we're hitting the Three Broomsticks. A good firewhisky will do you some good." Blaise winked while I laughed quietly.
"Believe me, I don't think a firewhisky will erase that image."
"Could I maybe come with you?" A strong voice interrupted us.
I tuned around quickly at that voice, while Blaise stayed speechless, looking at Hermione Granger. The Gryffindor was standing behind me, looking at us with her arms crossed. I looked back at Blaise, with wide eyes, urging him to say something.
"Listening private conversation now, Granger?" He finally asked, willing his face to get back to his usual emotionless mask. "Why would you want to come with us?"
"Well, as much as it costs to say, Pansy has been more of a friend to me these past few weeks than the bumbling idiots I stay with since I'm eleven." She harshly replied, glaring at Weasel and Potter who were seated a few feet away, looking at us confused.
I raised my eyebrows. "I am not your friend." I shrieked.
"I know." She replied, rolling her eyes. "But since seeing me with you annoys them, why not do it?"
"Wait." Blaise started, calmly. "You want to come with us to Hogsmeade just to annoy your friend?"
"Yes." She answered, nodding her head.
"What's in it for us?"
"I thought you liked being utterly annoying?" She asked me.
Well, she does have a point. I raised an eyebrow and turned toward Blaise.
"If you want." He answered my unasked question.
I turned back toward Granger and shrugged. "It doesn't mean we're friends."
"As usual." She smiled while going back to a desk full of books and parchments.
"Did we make a mistake?" I asked Blaise, putting my head in my hands.
"I don't know, maybe we should let our petty rivalries go." He answered, still looking at Granger with a frown.
"And treat Granger nicely?" I asked, alarmed.
He shrugged. "Maybe, I mean you do talk with her now and the war is over."
I pursed my lips slightly, thinking. Becoming somewhat acquaintances with Granger hadn't been as bad as I thought it would be, so spending a day with her and Blaise would certainly not kill me. It would also annoy Greengrass and her petty little friends.
"I did but it was not in this manner. No one knows about it beside you."
"And?" He arched a brow. "You're scared of what people will say?"
"Of course not." I glared at him. "There will be no going back afterward. Everybody will hate us."
"Pan's." Blaise put his hand on mine. "They already do."
I laughed at this, nodding. Playing friends with Granger will not change anything I guess. "Let's do this, then."
We exchanged a glance before I went back to my studying and Blaise went back to wherever he had come from.
"Excuse me."
I looked up at the voice which interrupted me, annoyed. Can't I have peace in this library? "What do you want Longbottom?"
"I was wondering if you had finished with the book on untransfiguration?" He asked, shyly.
I raised an eyebrow looking around my table. "Oh, this one." I asked, raising the book. "I didn't even use it." I said, handing it to him.
"Thank you." He whispered while I yawned. I waved to him slightly and started putting my books back in my bag after looking at my watch. I was too tired to continue studying and it was already 6.
"You're also going to dinner?" Granger who was passing by asked me.
I nodded, taking my bag and starting to walk, Granger behind me.
"So, tell me again why you want to spend your Saturday with Blaise and I?" I asked, turning toward her while putting the strap of my bag more firmly on my shoulder.
"I already told you, didn't I?"
I laughed. "Yes, because you want to annoy Weasel and Potter. I'm sorry to tell you that I don't believe you."
"It is to annoy them." Her eyes glared at me while I laughed again.
"And?" I asked her stopping in front of the stairs.
"And because I'm tired of fighting." She finally said, turning her head around to look outside the window.
"So you ask us? You could have asked the Weasley girl or… I don't know… Longbottom!"
She huffed. "Neville is already going with Luna and I don't think Ginny would want me there."
"Wait Loony and Longbottom are together?" I screeched excitedly before bursting in laughter.
"Luna. Her name is Luna." She furiously replied. "And, yes, I think they are."
"How… cute?" I laughed, leaning against the wall next to the window.
"Well it is, I guess. It's great that they found love after what we've been through." She smiled, her eyes back on the lake.
"I guess." I yawned, not really caring about it. "What about you? Anything happened with Potter?"
Granger turned toward me, eyebrow raised, a playful smile painted on her lips. "I thought we weren't friends."
"We're not, we're acquaintances, and it's not like we haven't talked about it before."
She sighed, shaking her head. "You know, you're the only one who knows about my feelings for Harry."
I waited for her to continue, not really knowing how to reply.
"Does Zabini knows?"
I shook my head. "I don't think I mentioned it to him."
She nodded.
"But if I did let it slip, I'm sorry." I relented, not looking at her.
She shrugged. "It is ok I guess, you can't lie to your best friend."
I nodded. "You can't lie but you can hide." I squatted slightly to take back my bag, which I had put down earlier. "I'm quite tired and I still need to eat." I told Granger as a goodbye before going down the stairs toward the great hall.
"See you Saturday." She smirked.
I turned around while still walking and faked a smile at her. "I can't wait."
The last thing I heard before the great hall's door closed was Granger's clear laugh. Spotting Blaise at the Slytherin table I quickly made my way to him, smirking at Daphne Greengrass who was glaring at me from the other end of the table.
"What's up with her?" I asked Blaise, mentioning to Greengrass with my chin. He turned toward where I was pointing, arching a brow when he was met with Greengrass's harsh glare.
"Well beside the fact that she hates you, she seems alright." He shrugged, getting back to his plate.
"The sentiment is shared." I took a sip of my pumpkin juice, my eyes still trained on Greengrass and her silly little friends.
"How come they don't pester you anymore?"
"I may have passed some sort of accord with them." I boringly replied, filling my plate with food.
"An accord?" He echoed, furrowing his eyebrow.
I nodded, my mouth full. "I told them that if they left me alone I would let them tell their parents that we're friends."
"That's why you ate with them yesterday morning?"
I nodded. "Hardest minutes of my life."
He laughed, putting his drink down. "That's a good arrangement though. You don't have to do much."
I shrugged. "That may be true but I still hate them."
"Don't worry, I don't think they hold you in high regards either."
"You're going to make me cry." I laughed.
"It'll be the first time."
I shook my head, sharing an amused glance with him. After a few minutes of silence, Blaise suddenly put his fork down while the people seating around us stood up, having finished eating.
"I can't believe Granger would want to be seen with us only to annoy those two idiots." He whispered, watching the other slytherin leave the great hall.
I shrugged. "She told me that she didn't want to fight with them anymore and that all her other friends were already taken."
Blaise smirked. "Even Longbottom?"
I laughed, looking up with glee. "I nearly forgot!" I smirked. "Guess with who Longbottom is having a romantic date this Saturday."
"His toad?" Blaise let out a loud laugh, taking his glass in his hands.
"No, better, Luna Lovegood." I sniggered.
Blaise swallowed his drink with difficulty, his eyes straining toward the Ravenclaw table. "Really?"
I nodded, turning around to look at Lovegood who was talking with an unconvinced Padma Patil.
"She's not that bad looking."
"What? You're kidding, right?" I looked back at Blaise, surprised.
"I'm talking about Patil." He drawled, looking back at me blankly.
"Do whatever you want." I replied, finishing my plate and standing up. "I didn't know she was your style though."
"What's a style anyway?" He smirked, glancing one last time at Patil before following me.
"Have you finished your potions homework?" I changed subject while we made our way to the Slytherin common room.
"Yes mom."
I glared at him, pursing my lips. "I am only doing that for you. Patil won't go for you if there's no brain in that pretty head of yours." I winked, before saying the password of our common room.
"You're not funny, Pan's." He whined while letting himself fall on one of the empty couch in front of the roaring fire.
"I'm only telling the truth." I sat down opposite him, looking around. "Where's everyone?"
Blaise shrugged, taking the forgotten bag of toffee on the table. "Want one?"
I nodded taking the offered bag of candy.
"Zabini."
Blaise and I turned around, coming face to face with Malfoy who was looking disdainfully at me. Few things change after all.
"Good evening Malfoy." Blaise replied, eyes trained on the blond, face emotionless.
We stayed this way for a few minutes, looking at each other without uttering a word.
"Well, I am going to sleep." I said, looking at Blaise. "It was a long day." I kissed my friend's cheek and went to my dormitory, not sparing Malfoy a glance.
The dormitory was deserted, most of the girls still in the great hall. I changed quickly and went to sit back on my bed. The sight of Draco wasn't hurting me anymore. Seeing him and feeling so empty was foreign to me. I was so used to feel broken and still in love everytime I came face to face with him. It was a good thing, then, I guess. Not feeling anything anymore, not caring about him anymore, or at least not caring about being with him anymore. I stood up, shaking off my thoughts of Malfoy, and went to search my bag for a book or something that could distract me. While taking a book on potions out of my bag, a letter fell at my feet. I looked at it, surprised before realising that it was me who had stashed it there this morning. I was so late for classes that I hadn't had the time to open it, and once the time came, I had forgotten all about the letter hidden in my bag.
I went to sit on my bed, opening the envelope. A smile spread upon my lips when I saw Gardenia's messy handwriting. Figured it would be her.
Dear Pansy
Today I went to the park with Miss Flora and we saw Coper! I missed him. He was really strange. He didn't smile. He asked me where you were and I told Hogwarts then he left and said that he hope you enjoy Scotland.
Do you know why he is strange? I missed him.
Love
Gardenia
…. Merlin, no! Gardenia just revealed to a muggle the existence of Hogwarts. What was I going to do? Wait… There is nothing I can do. Maybe Cooper will just think Hogwarts is the boarding school I go too!
I sighed, falling back on my bed, covering my head with one of my arms. Merlin, what was I going to do? Instead of answering Gardenia, I decided to simply go to bed and reply tomorrow. Maybe by then, I would know what to do. Maybe I was worrying for nothing.
Cooper…. I hadn't thought about him since I came back to Hogwarts… That was a lie, a huge bold and underlined twice lie. Hell I would even admit to missing him a tiny little bit – really really tiny. I groaned in my pillow at my stupidity. I did not just think that I missed a muggle. I can't miss a muggle. I groaned again, putting my head under my pillow. Come on Pansy, let's not think about it anymore. You're at Hogwarts, learning stuff, trying to have the best grades possible to get out of that thing you call home.
I put the pillow back under my head and took a few deep breaths. A yawn suddenly overtaking me, I closed the curtain around my bed and settled under my cover, sleep coming over me quickly.
I hope you liked it.
