"Fool me once"
Please enjoy and review!
Moaning slightly, Chris' head lolled to the side of the pillow her head was resting on as she slowly began to wake up.
Blinking her hazel eyes open, she gasped and sat up when she found herself in an unfamiliar dark room and remembered that she had been grabbed by someone and knocked out.
Glancing around, she found a familiar young man sleeping in a chair, his head tilted back as he slept and Chris slowly crept off the bed, wincing when it made an inaudible creaking sound.
It would be hard to detect by a human, but she had a suspicion the man was a vampire and knew that the smallest of sounds could easily be picked up by the blood suckers.
Her eyes never left the man, whom she realized was Ben the boy Bonnie liked, as she made her way towards the door.
She stepped over one of his legs that was spread out in her path and her whole body was stiff as she slowly walked away from him and turned her attention to the door once she was about two feet away from it.
Relief was filling her as she reached out her hand towards the chain to unlock it and she glanced over her shoulder, swallowing a bit as she watched Ben to make sure she didn't wake him up.
Slowly, her hands went down to the knob and twisted the lock slowly.
"I wouldn't." Ben said.
Gasping, she turned around and her back flattened against the door as she stared up into the dark brown eyes of the boy her sister used to go to school with.
He stepped closer to her and he stared into her eyes which made her realize that he was going to try and compel her which meant he didn't know she was wearing vervain.
"Don't try to escape. Don't even move. Do you understand?" He said hypnotically.
"Yes. I understand." She whispered in a trance as her hand lifted up onto the knob.
Ben scoffed happily at that as he turned his back on her and went to the mini fridge while Chris quickly pulled the door open.
Sunlight shone into the room making Ben scream in pain as his skin turned red as it began to sizzle and she realized that he didn't have a daylight ring and she turned to run outside, but stopped when she saw someone from her past storm into the threshold.
"Seriously?" the Asian woman scoffed as she gently shoved Chris into the room and closed the door.
"I told her not to move. I did the eye thing you taught me." Ben said in his defense as his burns slowly began to heal.
"But forgot the lesson about vervain. She's friends with vampires." The female reminded.
"You used to be one of them, Annabelle." Chris said making the two vampires look at her.
"So you do remember?" Anna asked with hope in her onyx colored eyes.
"Yeah, I do. What I want to know though is why did you kidnap me, Annabelle?" Chris asked.
"Sorry, Alex, I wanted to get Elena, but she was too well guarded. The Salvatore brothers are always so dumb to become obsessed with the doppelganger that they didn't realize you would also be in danger." Anna said as she gently pushed Chris tot the bathroom.
"Doppelganger?" Chris asked as she was pushed into the bathroom.
The door was then locked behind her and the girl turned to it, trying to see if there was a lock on the inside, but it was broken.
Sighing in disbelief, she looked for the light switch and flicked it up making the old lights flicker on.
Looking around the room, she found a shadow behind the curtain of the tub and curiously, she walked over praying that it wasn't a dead body.
"I'm stuck in a motel with killer vampires and I'm going to check what's hiding behind a shower curtain. Fabulous." She muttered.
Swallowing down her worry, she pulled the curtain back and gasped when she found the Bennett witch was unconscious in the tub.
"Oh my God, Bonnie." She gasped and quickly checked to see if the girl had been bitten.
Not finding any bite marks or blood on the teenage witch, Chris relaxed as she gently started shaking Bonnie to try and wake her.
Groaning in protest, jade eyes opened up and landed on the worried face of the caramel haired girl.
"Bonnie, you're okay." She sighed.
"Chris? Oh, my head." Bonnie groaned as Chris helped the girl sit up properly.
"Oh my God. Ben is a vam-"
"I know. You need to be quiet, they can hear us." Chris cut Bonnie off.
Getting an idea, Chris stood up and helped bonnie out of the bath tub and turned on the taps, the running water hopefully drowning out the sounds of their talking.
"I'm so stupid. I should have known what he was." Bonnie groaned as she held a cold washcloth to her head.
"This isn't your fault, Bonnie. I mean, who would have guessed that a small town bartender was a vampire?" Chris shrugged.
"What's going on? Why are we here?" Bonnie asked.
"I have no idea. Maybe they're after Emily's Grimoire." Chris suggested.
"Grimoire?" bonnie asked.
"It's a book of spells. It's supposed to have a spell that will open the tomb under Fell's church." Chris explained.
"Why didn't I know about any of this?" bonnie asked.
"I don't know. I thought maybe Elena would have told you. Knowing about it would have kept you safe." Chris said as she got annoyed at her sister for constantly lying.
"Why though? I don't understand why she wouldn't tell me." Bonnie frowned.
"They need a witch to cast the spell. As far as they know, you're the only witch in Mystic Falls. Plus, the Grimoire belongs to a Bennett, so it would make sense that you would be the one to cast the spell." Chris explained.
The two girls were sitting down in front of the tub and were leaning against the porcelain.
"I don't know if I can though. I-I'm not that strong." Bonnie said.
The door was then slammed open by Ben making the two girls jump as they turned to the male, Chris glaring while Bonnie was fearful as they held hands.
Walking over to them, he leaned over and turned off the tap with a smug raise of his eyebrows.
"You're wasting your time. I'm not gonna help you." Bonnie said getting her courage up.
Smirking, Ben grabbed Chris and pulled her away from the older girl and bonnie tried to keep a hold of the girl's hands, but she wasn't strong enough to go against a vampire.
"That's why she's here. Motivation for you to behave. You know, you shouldn't be so desperate. You made it too easy." Ben sneered making tears spring to Bonnie's eyes.
Ben then dragged Chris to her feet and she struggled along the way as Bonnie stood up.
"She wants to talk to you." he said as he threw the girl out of the bathroom and stumble.
Turning to glare at him, she saw him smirk as he closed the bathroom door behind himself and Bonnie.
"Alex." Anna called making the girl turn to her.
"I still can't believe you were reincarnated. I missed you." Anna said.
"I wish we were having this reunion on better terms. What is a doppelganger and what does it have to do with Elena and Katherine?" Chris asked.
"A doppelganger is a supernatural look alike of another person. Everything about them is identical from head to toe." Anna explained.
"I already know about that, Annabelle. What I meant was, why is it so important? And why did you go after my brother? Honestly, I care for you, Annabelle, but if you hurt my brother…" Chris warned.
"I won't, don't worry about that. And as for the doppelganger, that's not important right now. What is important though is getting tomb open." Anna said as she walked over to the window to check and see if the Salvatores arrived yet.
"Bonnie isn't going to do it. She's still a beginner, so even if you somehow manage to get her to agree to open the tomb, she'll fail." Chris crossed her arms.
"She won't just fail. She'll die." Anna said making the other girl tense up.
"Why do you want the tomb opened?" Chris asked.
Anna looked at her and she recognized a certain emotion in her eyes.
"Pearl's in the tomb." Chris realized.
"I want my mom back. I watched as your father took her away. Emily promised me that I would see her again and I waited 145 years until the comet came back so that the tomb could be open. When Emily destroyed the crystal, I knew I had to find another way. Her Grimoire obviously had a spell inside to open it up." Anna said.
"I'm so sorry, Annabelle. Johnathan loved Pearl and I know it must have killed him to find out she was a vampire and to have her put away in the tomb." Chris said with sincerity in her eyes and voice.
Anna licked her lips as a small smile formed on her lips.
"Remember when you and I used to joke around about us one day becoming sisters?" she asked.
"Yeah, I do. I'm sorry I died too early." Chris said.
"That wasn't your fault. Anyway, time to get down to business. The bonding is over for now." Anan said as she walked over to the coffee table.
She picked up a red I-phone making Chris gap.
"Recognize this?" the black haired vampire asked holding it up.
"My phone." Chris said.
Smirking, Anna then started dialing a number on the phone, calling one of the Salvatore brothers and held it to her ear and her smirk widened when someone answered.
"She's fine for now. Tell me you have the Grimoire, and she'll stay fine." Anna said.
"Which means your brother has it. And I have the witch. So one of you had better meet me in the town square in 30 minutes so we can safely discuss how fun it's gonna be working together." Anna said as she hung up.
Handing the phone back to the girl, she walked over to the bathroom door and slapped her hand against it to get Ben's attention.
"I'm leaving." She announced and then walked to the front door as Ben walked up, his hand on Bonnie's arm.
"Keep them buttoned down. Compulsion won't work. Just use violence." Anna ordered.
"Right. I got that." Ben said as Anna walked outside.
"Sit. Behave." Ben pushed bonnie onto one of the beds.
He then proceeded to shrug off his leather jacket as Chris sat next to Bonnie, the two girls holding hands and felt comfort in it.
"So you're the key to this. Literally. The one who opens the door. Tell me, how long have you been a witch?" Ben asked as he sat down in his chair.
"Can I get some water, please?" Chris asked.
"Sweet innocent little Christina. You never change do you?" Ben leered as he walked over and cupped her chin and she glared up at him.
"There's water on the nightstand." Ben said gesturing to the glass.
Once he backed off, Chris took the glass and brought it up to her lips as Bonnie watched her, a thought coming to mind.
"Hey. Can I have a sip?" Bonnie asked.
Chris looked at her curiously as Bonnie gave her a look and the younger girl remembered the event at the carwash.
Silently, she handed over the glass and bonnie took it as she looked at Ben with a hard stare and flung the water onto his arm and turned the liquid into flames.
Ben cried out in shock and started shouting as he tried to pat the flames out as the girls quickly ran for the door.
Bonnie was out first, but Ben managed to grab Chris making her struggle to get free and kicked her leg up, hitting him in groin.
He cried out in pain as he let the girl go and she turned around and used the heel of her foot to kick him in the nose making him stubble back and she quickly ran for the door.
Once safely out in the sunlight, the two girls held hands as they ran for Sheila Bennett's house where they would be the safest.
"Since when are you violent?" Bonnie asked as they stopped running.
"Since I don't want to die at 15 again." Chris panted.
They walked to the Bennett house and found Stefan and Damon were on the porch, Sheila looking at the two girls in relief.
Turning, the brothers saw the two girls and quickly ran over and enveloped Chris into a hug while Bonnie ran over to her grandmother.
Sheila hugged her granddaughter and kissed her head as Bonnie held onto her feeling safe and relieved.
"Stefan, Damon, you're suffocating me." Chris laughed as she hugged the two vampires.
"Too bad. You are so grounded young lady." Damon said.
"How did you get away?" Stefan asked.
"Long story. What do we do now?" Chris asked.
"First of all, I'm taking you home." Damon said.
"No, what if Anna comes back. She's been invited in." Stefan reminded.
"Christina is more than welcome to stay with me." Sheila said.
Chris smiled at the old witch and walked over to Sheila who returned the smile and wrapped an arm around the girl, pulling her into her side.
"Thanks, Sheila." She said.
"So we got the witches and the Grimoire. What do we do now?" Damon smirked.
"I won't open that tomb. I can't release that kind of evil onto this town just so you can get your girlfriend back." Sheila glared.
Damon returned the look and wanted to charge at her but didn't because Chris was next to the woman and he didn't want to hurt her or make her fear him.
"I think we should do it." Chris psoke up making everyone look at her.
"What?" Stefan asked.
"Chris, no. it's too dangerous." Bonnie protested.
"The vampires will be mummified, right?" Chris asked.
"They haven't fed in 145 years, so they would have mummified without any blood in their system." Stefan said.
"Then we get Katherine out and burn the rest of them. They'll be too weak to fight it and we won't have to worry about the vampires hurting anyone." Chris rationalized.
"It's too risky." Stefan shook his head.
"We have no other choice. I'm guessing this love-struck fool won't stop trying to get the tomb open and more people will be killed. So I'll open the tomb." Sheila said.
"Glad to see we're all working together." Damon smirked.
To be continued…
