Chapter 14: Indispensable Part 2
As Sam slept fitfully he felt like his blood was on fire. He could feel something being burned out of him. He dreamt of Dean and himself driving fast down a road listening to classic rock. Dean stopped the car and looked at Sam. "You're better now Sammy, perfect." Dean smiled at him hugely. Sam felt his hand on his cheek as he pulled him close for a kiss.
Sam woke up unwillingly. He tried to cling to the dream he was having, but he felt it fading away. Sam waited for the shivers and fever to come on but it didn't happen. Sam felt better than he had in months. The withdraw didn't materialize. Sam was clean, but he didn't understand how since it had only been a few days since his last fix. Sam leapt to his feet trying to bring on the dizziness, but it also didn't come. Sam reached for his phone and dialed Dean.
"Sammy, what's wrong?" Dean answered on the first ring, he sounded worried.
"Where are you?" Sam asked.
"Shouldn't I be the one asking that?" Dean asked sweetly. He must really be worried Sam thought. "What happened?" Dean tried asking again."
"I need to see you... Now." Sam said with urgency.
"Okay." Dean said trying to soothe him. "I'm about 15 minutes away from your hotel."
Sam sighed relief washing over him at Dean's words. "Ha, yeah I figured. You didn't listen. I said I needed time."
"It's a good thing I didn't. If I was just leaving now it would have taken three hours. Are you okay Sam?" Dean asked once more.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just don't know what I was thinking. I need you."
Dean sucked in a breath at Sam's vulnerability. He ached to say the words he always holds back. He could hear the words echoing in his mind 'I love you'. But he wanted to say it to Sam's face. So Sam could look into his eyes, and know without a doubt he meant it. "Okay." He said simply.
"Yeah, and Dean, hurry." Sam said the last word as a command. Sam hung up and went to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
Sam sat on the loveseat his hair sticking to his forehead. He ran to the door when he heard the knocking. Dean didn't say anything he just came inside and closed the door.
Sam walked back into the sitting area when Dean caught his arm. Dean waited for Sam to look at him. "Don't ever do that to me again. There are things you don't understand Sam." Dean said sternly. He was in full lector mode.
"What things?" Sam asked curiously
"We need go be with each other at all times. I don't know what brought me out of hell, but there's gonna be some very pissed off Demons looking for us. Spike had plans for me. He'll want to use you to get to me Sam." Sam shook out of Dean's grip.
"Yeah. I know you're right." He said with his back turned.
"Sammy, I'm serious. This is dangerous. If Spike gets his hands on you who knows what..."
"Okay Dean. I got it." Sam said shakily.
"Sam what's going on here? Why did you leave? Where you really gonna go through with killing yourself?" Dean asked the question that had been plaguing his mind since he came back. "Talk to me." Dean said trying to get Sam to open up.
Sam spun around. His mouth was in a firm line. He was fighting for composure, his emotions were getting the best of him. "All of this is my fault Dean. You saved my life just for me to throw it away four months later." Dean reached for Sam. Sam slapped his hands away. "I'm not even just taking about me killing myself, Azazel told me I have demon blood in me, before you killed him. I bet you wouldn't have sold your soul if you would've know that little bit of information. I tried everything to bring you back, nothing worked. You were rotting in hell for months, for months and I..." he couldn't continue. The tears finally started falling.
"Hey." Dean whispered. Dean pulled Sam into his arms, this time Sam let him. Dean held him for a little while and let Sam feel his arms around him. Dean held Sam until he relaxed into it and stopped crying. Sam let all the pain from losing Dean melt away as he held him.
Dean finally spoke. "I sold my soul, it was selfish. That was my choice. You could have unicorn blood in you for all I care Sam. Don't you get it. I love you. I have always loved you. And I will love you forever." Sam shot his head up and looked into Dean's eyes. He tilt his head to the side like a confused puppy. "Yes you heard me right." He put his hand over Sam's heart further conveying his message. "I love you."
Author's Note: I've had this unfinished and saved for so long. I didn't think anyone read these, but as per request here's another update. I've also started working on 15.
