Me: Sooooooo… Three years later and I finally saved Ezra from the trash.

Ezra: Three. Years.

Me: Yeah, this is one of my more popular stories and I never meant to abandon it like that… but I kinda stopped watching the show for a bit. However I am completely caught up, my emotions are high, and I am finally updating.

Ezra: Three. Years.

Me: Can you please get over that? I could've just left you there forever. Also these are a series of unconnected one shots with only a few things being together. The whole Ezra dying chapter doesn't happen in any other chapter. This chapter is set in another au… sorta… I changed it a bit. Now do the disclaimer.

Ezra: Fine. ItstheBookworm doesn't own me or any of the Star Wars franchise no matter how much she would like too.

3rd Person POV

It wasn't that Ezra hadn't thought about it. The issue was he had thought about it to much. After the death of his mentor, he couldn't imagine not changing it if he could. Everyone had been taking it hard, Hera especially. Then there was Andraste, someone who had known Kanan the longest, and the team themselves. The team was fractured. He could feel it, sense it. So he needed to change it.

Ahsoka had warned him not too, begging him. But he had saved Ahsoka, shouldn't he save Kanan too? If he had the ability to do so, why wouldn't he? But could he do more then save people? What if he could use the force to keep Kanan from burning up in the flames, long enough for him to push them away from the explosion and then grab Kanan. He had to try.

"Ezra!" Ahsoka shouted at him, as he reached through the portal.

The Force greeted him as a friend, warning him of what he was about to do. The dangers it could possess, especially if he failed. Ezra saw his chance, when Kanan pushed Hera away the first time. With a little nudge in the Force he pushed Hera, his past self, Sabine, and the spacecraft they had stolen further back. They seemed startled, but Kanan didn't notice.

"Kanan!" Hera had shouted, fear and terror mingling in her voice.

Ezra was sweating, biting his lip. It would be close now. He had seconds. Kanan's focus was split. The Force was roaring through him, he watched Kanan's eyes heal, and then he grabbed him. This shouldn't change to much. Their past selves were farther away now then when Kanan first pushed them back. Hera was already in his past selves arms. Kanan could see, even if just for a few minutes, and the explosion was already happening.

Fire licked at Ezra's hand as he pulled Kanan through. They collapsed on the ground, Ahsoka standing in shock at what he had just done. However she continued to watch the scene play out. The explosion, their voices screaming for Kanan, and then Sabine tearfully pulling the ship away.

"Kanan… Kanan." Ezra gasped out, crying as he stared at his mentor.

"Ezra..?" Kanan looked up. His eyes were still blue, the scar on his nose gone. However the terrible haircut was still there. "Ahsoka? What's going on?" He stood up shakily.

"Ezra just saved us. Both of us." Ahsoka answered as she walked over.

"What…?" Kanan stared at them.

"Kanan… you died…" Ezra managed, trying to calm himself down. He was still crying, tears streaming down his face. There hadn't been time to mourn his mentor.

This didn't really seem to be news to Kanan. Either that or he was pushing it aside to focus on his Padawan. He quickly pulled Ezra into a hug, holding him close against his chest. This caused Ezra to fully breakdown, sobbing and clinging to his mentor tightly. Thankfully Ahsoka didn't ruin this moment.

"Tell me what happened," Kanan demanded, pulling away once Ezra seemed to calm down. "Start at the beginning."

So Ezra talked. He talked about the team fracturing, Sabine and Zeb going off on their own to get revenge. How he went to the spot where Kanan frequently meditated, going there and hoping beyond hope that he would manage to feel his Master's bond. But instead there was nothing there and he ended up visiting the wolves. That they took him somewhere else and had him go back to the temple. The team was back together, even if it was just for the mission, and he opened the gateway here. Finding Ahsoka and then following his bond with Kanan to this gateway, to save Kanan.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Ezra." Kanan brushed the tears off his Padawan's cheek. It was a familiar gesture, only different with Ezra's short hair.

Ezra stayed silent, unsure of how to respond. Instead he smiled weakly. Then he felt a tingle on the back of his neck, cold and terrifying. He turned around. One of the portals was glowing, on the other side Emperor Palpatine. The hooded cloak covered his face.

"Run!" Kanan shouted, "I'll hold him off."

"Kanan!" Ezra shouted.

"Go Ezra!"

"I'm not leaving you!"

Ahsoka ended up dragging both of them away as the blue fire rushed towards them. A spell of some sort, allowing it to breach the gateway. They ran, however not fast enough. The fire reached Ezra, a blue rope wrapping around his ankle.

"Ahsoka! Kanan!" Ezra shouted, struggling to get it off of him.

The two turned, Ahsoka reacting first and cutting off the rope with her lightsaber. Kanan helped Ezra up, dragging him away from the flames. They recoiled for only a few minutes before coming after them again.

"We have to get back to our portals!" Ahsoka exclaimed.

"I can take Kanan with me!" Ezra responded, dodging. "His would be to dangerous!"

"Ahsoka! Find us when you get back!" Kanan ordered.

She nodded, them ran down a different path. The flames continued following all three of them. Ezra shouted for Kanan when he went down a different path, not following Ezra.

"I'll find you Ezra!" Kanan called after him, before disappearing into the portal Ezra had pulled him out of.

The flames pushed against Kanan's portal. Ezra jumped through his, rolling as he fell. On the other side was his family, the Ghost Crew. He wanted to scream, but he refrained. Instead he rushed with them, closing the gateway. They rushed off as the temple collapsed. However with the rush of the Force flowing through him, the sudden return of his bond with Kanan, and the rush of emotions Ezra passed out.

He awoke later, the warmth of the Force and his Bond flowing through him. Nearby he could sense his family, Hera outside and the rest inside. Sabine was right besides him, Zeb nearby. His eyes fluttered open and he ground. It felt like a loth-wolf was sitting on his chest, keeping him down. However he sat up, rubbing his eyes.

"You should go outside," Sabine said, after Zeb made a snarky remark about him waking up.

"What?" Ezra asked, though he was already up and heading out.

Hera was standing a bit away, arms over her stomach as she stared at the barren desert. Where were they? Ezra didn't recognize it. However, the Force seemed stronger here. It felt familiar. Was this…?

"Where are we?" Ezra asked. In order to find Kanan, Ezra had to have some sort of knowledge of where they currently were.

"Don't you recognize it?" Hera replied softly, hugging herself tighter.

Ezra looked at his feet. This was…

"This is where Kanan and I stood to open the temple but, its gone!"

Hera turned away, staring down at the ground to her left. However Ezra just stared at where the temple should be. This didn't look anything like it. But it had to be. The Force was strong here, even without the temple. All the signs pointed to it being where the Temple used to be. Ezra had… he had…

"We need to get back to base. Inform them of what happened here," Hera finally said.

Kanan knew where the base was, didn't he? But he had never seen it before. Would he be able to find it with his sight now? That didn't matter. Ezra still felt heavy. Maybe Kanan could track their bond and find where Ezra was. Even if that meant he ended up at the temple.

It seemed that Ezra didn't need to worry as, back at the base, Kanan was waiting. There was silence from the Ghost Crew, stunned silence. Then Hera broke it with a strangled sound reminiscent of Kanan's name. After her was Sabine, then Zeb. However Ezra stayed behind. He had his time with Kanan, even if it had been cut short. Yet in the end he was dragged into the hug as well. Everything was fine.

Their family was together again.

Me: So… kinda short. Kinda random. Not exactly what I planned on but still. Based on an AU where Ezra ignored Ahsoka and saved Kanan. Usually those end up with the others dead but like… I don't wanna kill anyone else rn so they stayed alive.

Ezra: You realize we aren't real… right?

Me: Stop breaking the fourth wall. Have some butterscotch.

Ezra: Oooooh. *eat butterscotch*

Me: So… Review?
