Her cold cerulean eyes shook with unadulterated rage. She watched as those bottom-feeders approached her fallen father with glee, which only fueled her wrath. Fuyu's foot leaped to intercept them from desecrating any further the body of Gohan. To her they were moving at a snail's pace, thanks to the combined power of her Ice-jin and Saiyan traits, it took her a fraction of a second to be in front of them.
Maybe it was the fact that Ice-jin princess had almost materialized in front of the squad of Hemli's soldiers or they weren't used to a being that could faster than them, but the small furry soldiers came to an abrupt stop in front of her.
Her transformation had already bought the attention of everyone on the field, however, her thundering speed kept everyone watching, particularly Ryoko and Hemli. Ryoko's eyes widened as he screamed for her to stop.
It was only seconds but the whole plain would be introduced to the next escalation of this battle as Fuyu opened her extended arm and condensed a ball of Ki. The soldiers in front of her didn't even have time to prepare themselves as Fuyu released the blast and instantly eviscerated two unlucky combatants. Both her hands and tail reached out and caught three other fighters. Their claws scratched at her grip, but she paid no attention to their futile struggles. Their fellow brothers in arms reacted and tried to aid those that were caught, but Fuyu's lips curled into a cruel smile as she snapped their necks to the horror of those that were just millimeters there.
Their red eyes burned with anger at the clear display viciousness. From the group soldiers that remained, some took a step back to mourn those that had so savagely been killed, but there was a group who decided to attack the golden-haired monster in front of them. Fuyu made short work of them and a pile of bodies was slowly building around her.
Soon only Fuyu remained in that airspace, so she cleared her throat as she spoke as loudly as she could, "Showing you rats any mercy was a mistake I will not make again! To my brothers and sisters, I want you to see our father! This is what happens when we fight half-heartily WHEN WE FIGHT WITH OUR HANDS TIED! THEY ALMOST KILLED OUR FATHER! It is about time we take this seriously because if our father dies, then so will we! I don't care if these pests were good at one point in their miserable lives; today they target us and that is all that matters! And if you guys have a weak stomach to do what must be done, then I will!" She placed both hands above her head as she concentrated a large quantity of Ki. The purple ball expanded until it was released as numerous streams that flew into the air before coming down to the ground below. The exhausted warriors who littered the field around Gohan were treated to one last vision as Fuyu's blast erased all those that had been responsible for Gohan's condition.
Chika covered her father as best as she could as explosions were setting off all around them. As much as she would've considered Fuyu's remarks and actions as repugnant just a week ago, today she couldn't agree more. Being diplomatic had gotten them nowhere and all it rewarded them was her father barely breathing; it reminded her of just what was at stake if things were left to the previous status quo. She had already lost her father in her world, Chika would be damned if she was to witness it before her again. With a renewed fire in her eyes, she stood up as soon as all the explosions were done. A golden aura surrounded her as she transitioned to her Super Saiyan state.
Ryoko watched in horror as one by one his siblings were powering up and transforming in solidarity with Fuyu. He was at a loss for words, after all, what could he say to calm their rage. Their father still lay motionless, aside from some short breaths. Chika, Cerevak, the twins, Zene and Kyra had all transformed and their expressions mirrored Fuyu's. The others were clearly upset but were trying to decide on what side to stand on, stand with Fuyu and her 'by any means necessary' approach or follow what he had asked of them and not kill Hemli's soldiers.
The edge of Hemli's sword touched the floor as he stood by Ryoko looking up at the Super Saiyan in the air. "And you said that they weren't killing my soldiers. That these children of Gohan were different from the Neo-Saiyans, but as I see what she did, can you still tell me that they aren't bloodthirsty."
"You're not really giving them much of an option," whispered Ryoko as his fingers dug into the ground. "Hemli… my siblings have tried to give me time to get through to you, but what your soldiers did, that borders on the kind of horrors you used to despise. I do not agree with what she and the others are doing, however, there is nothing I can do now to stop them. Hemli listen to reason! You and I can still put a stop to this, but as long as you remain hard-headed this needless battle will continue…until one side has been eradicated."
The warm stream of summer air passed both leaders as they stood watching the volatile battle explode before them. A frown formed on his small face as his red eyes carefully watched the destructive nature that Ryoko's siblings were now inflicting on his men. His nails dug into his palm as he watched one by one his soldiers fall, but this time they fell with no sign of life in their eyes. Some could only mutter a few last choice words before they too passed to the next world. Hemli's grip on his sword lessened until it fell, once free his hand reached to touch the black bracelet Lord Dekaido had placed on his arm and his eyes tore away from the carnage to the bracelet as well. Allowing an exasperated breath go, he shook his head, "Then so be it."
"Are you so blind with rage that you are willing to sacrifice your own men just to get back at me?!" as Ryoko stood up he reached and pulled over Hemli by his vest. "You're not the revered leader I met a year ago; you're not even a shadow of him." Ryoko turned the motionless and captured rodent general towards the battlefield as he continued his tirade, "Call your men back… or my siblings will kill the remains of your soldiers. They deserve better and if you were even half the leader you once were then you would have stopped this senseless battle long ago, it's suicide to continue!"
Hemli's red eyes never met the Saiyan's onyx; however, he leveraged himself to land both feet on Ryoko's face in order to tear away from his grip. The general landed on all four a few centimeters away from his sword, so Hemli retrieved his sword as he got back on his own two feet. A white aura sprung around the small rodent as he pushed his power to the limit. With a growl, he shouted, "You think this battle is only my idea?! That my men are dying because I have a score to settle! No Son Ryoko, I am a leader of my people and I heard their cries of anguish for days, weeks, even months after you left as they cried in deep sorrow for the loss YOU and your family caused them! Call me what you want, but this is what my men wish to do; they want you and your family to suffer and if we have to die in the process then we will be happy to lay down our lives for the cause!"
With his white-hot aura burning, Hemli dashed towards the defenseless Ryoko. He swung he sword to add another scar across the feature of the son of Gohan. Ryoko shouted in pain as one hand went up to his face, but the other one on instinct delivered a powerful fist into the rodent's abdomen sending him straight through a couple of trees in the forest nearby.
Wiping the blood dribbling down his cheek, Hemli briefly smirked before his stoic expression returned. He flew out of the forest picking up a couple of his men along the way as he made his way to battle with Ryoko.
The battle continued through the night. With the introduction of the Super Saiyan form and other transformations, the power of control within the war had begun to shift from Hemli's ultrafast warriors to the powered up children of Gohan. The sky began to show signs that a sunrise was within minutes away from happening, but the only thing this sun would be a witness of is the carnage and smell of death of what once was a beautiful landscape.
The fights had not ceased, and Fuyu stayed true to her word, if one of her siblings had just incapacitated their opponent she would come by and erased that opponent from the battlefield against the protest of her sibling. Not that there were many that were still siding with Ryoko.
Fuyu did have to give Hemli's soldiers credit though. They had stuck around and not one of his men had decided abandoned the field. In her eyes, their actions were either foolish or suicidal, yet they continue to fight even though she and her sibling were on par with their speed but now they also had a boosted strength.
As the sun came over the mountain, the hills were filled with the lifeless bodies of Hemli's fighters. The battles were slowly coming to an end but the peaceful landscape that existed the day before was nowhere to be seen. In its place remained scorched ground that still sizzled from the fires that burned through the night.
Ryoko balled his fist as he saw the bodies that lay as far as his eye could see. His stormy blue eyes betrayed his usual calm demeanor as he watched his siblings slaughtering those that remained. He could see as Pan, Rize, Vanee, Krillin, and Yamcha fruitlessly tried to stop any further carnage, but their efforts were in vain. Ryoko could feel the Ki's of many being snuffed out and those warriors that followed Hemli that remained weren't going to live long enough to seek medical attention.
'Where did I go wrong,' he thought as he bowed his head in shame. He began to walk away when he noticed the wheezing of someone underneath a pile of bodies and dirt. In his mind, he knew it was pointless, yet he chooses to recover whoever was underneath, at least to give them a better sendoff than one suffocating under all that weight. As he reached, using one good hand, Ryoko pushed and dug until he got to the source of the wheezing. He saw the last person he wanted to see.
"Hemli!" Ryoko shouted as he pulled the small rodent out. His one good red eye glared with at as much hatred as he could muster. Ryoko could care less how he viewed him. "I'm sorry." The dark haired man expressed even though he knew nothing he said would make a difference.
Coughing Hemli spoke, "Congratulations Ryoko, you managed to finish what you started in my world." The small warrior tilted his head to see his surrounding yet he knew what he was going to see. It didn't make it any easier to see so many of his brethren wasted. Warriors he fought with for as long as he knew, in that group were friends from his childhood and many others he met along the way, now they were just stains that sullied the ground where they lay.
High above their position, Hemli saw the imposing figure of Fuyu as she obliterated another of his kind. "NeoSaiyan," he whispered with disgust. He would spit if he could control his body, but right now the only thing that kept him upright was the man that had led him to so much pain and sorrow. At one point he saw Ryoko as a champion for his cause, but today all he sees is the devil that terrorizes his dreams. It gave him some glee that Ryoko's face had been permanently scarred by him, so Ryoko would carry the guilt of what happened today for the rest of his life.
"It didn't have to end this way," Ryoko repeated the phase he stated throughout the night.
Hemli did his best to laugh, but with a lung that was surely punctured, all that came out were some gurgles, "It was never going to end any other way."
One by one Ryoko's sibling came to his location. Chika and Kyra along with the other Z-fighters went to Gohan, who was trying to stand, though badly injured Gohan asked to be taken where everyone else was. As they approached they could see that Ryoko was holding the failing body of Hemli. Finally, Fuyu landed a few meters behind Ryoko. She calmly walked up to them; there was no regret in her eyes as she saw the last of enemy struggling to breathe.
The bloodied small warrior held his tear as to not give Ryoko and his sibling the satisfaction of seeing him broken. He muffled and swallowed the lump in his throat and cracked another smile. "You know Son Ryoko…I hope you are proud of yourself in …your effort to prove…that you're different… from the NeoSaiyans, you only proved to me… that no Saiyan can ever truly be good. I…wish to the high heavens…I had never met you.
"Look at me!" Hemli roared when Ryoko began to bow his head. "At least have to decency to look at me. Don't you dare shy away from what you have done now that it is done."
Ryoko eyes began to drift but this time it wasn't because he didn't want to meet Hemli's eyes. On his arm, he noticed a bracelet that had been wrapped around his bicep. Due to the darkness of the night and the color of the gem in the bracelet he had not seen it before. Without wanting to, Ryoko asked the question on his mind, "Where did you get that?" His fingers traced the gems he thought he knew.
Hemli for his part had a hard time moving his head but he could see the bracelet that had been gifted to him. It was a surprise to him that it has remained, though slightly worn from the battle, but still remained relatively intact. "It was a gift," he paused. Hemli could see as Ryoko eyed the bracelet as if he knew it as well. "From Lord Dekaido."
This actually brought a genuine smirk to the dying warrior. "You know we may have lost Ryoko, but in the end, you will lose the war... I hope you're hearing me Prime because your days are numbered…. Lord Dekaido will avenge my death. He will soon rain down on this planet and destroy everything until he finds you and kills you… Soon the multiverse will be purged of Son Gohan and his evil offspring." Hemli attempted again to laugh but just another trail of blood came. His vision was spotty yet he couldn't help himself in reveling in the knowledge that all the data he and his army got from this battle was already transmitted to the mothership flying high above. "YOU WILL DIE YOU VILE SCUM!" he screamed at the limping Gohan.
A beam struck the dying Hemli between the eyes. Ryoko's was holding a gem when the beam struck Hemli. The force pushed the body out of his hands and the bracelet snapped. The horror of seeing the small warrior lying among his brethren with a small hole between his eyes, his head snap behind him. He could still see the smoke that trailed from Fuyu's fingertips. He gripped the remains of the bracelet in his hand as he stood up. His eyes fluctuated between stormy blue and the teal. "He was already dying," he growled.
"Well, he wasn't dying fast enough," Fuyu bit back. "I just put him out of his misery. Besides, he was the one that dared attack our father. He had already forfeited his life."
Ryoko's eyes remained teal as a gust of wind whirled around him. Fuyu also began to raise her power in case Ryoko dared attack her.
With a single yell, Ryoko charged with his fist pulled back. His hair flashed as he transformed into his Super Saiyan state. The beads of the bracelet trailed behind as he launched his fist forward.
The other barely had a chance to react when Ryoko blasted towards Fuyu. Thankfully someone was able to react in time; unfortunately or fortunately depending on how it's viewed, it was the last person that should be getting in between them.
Gohan managed to rush to get in between the enraged Ryoko and the inactive Fuyu. Ryoko barely had time to correct his course and miss his father. Sliding past them and crashing into the ground off to the side with his hair losing the golden tint in the process. Ryoko stared at the ground as he pushed his body off the floor. "Why…?"
Gohan didn't need to hear the full question to understand what Ryoko was asking, "Because I will not stand by as you kill your sister. I don't agree with what she did, but I will not stand to the side as you almost kill her with that strike."
Cerevak went to help Ryoko stand, but he pushed the tailed Saiyan back. He looked back at his father and especially the source of his irritation, Fuyu. Without another word, Ryoko lifted off the ground and blasted off.
Gohan began to fall back once again, but Fuyu quickly caught her father and alongside Chika and Kyra, they began to walk him back to the remains of the houses. Although Gohan knew he couldn't go now, he was going to go after Ryoko as soon as he could fly.
AN: Well my writer's block seems to have partially disappeared. Hopefully I can get back into the grove of writing more at a faster pace. While I think the chapter was alright, I feel it could have been so much better. Still let me know what you guys think.
