Set in the taxi on the way to hospital in 6.18 A Change of Heart.
Hearts
"How did your date with Nora go?"
"What?" he jerks round from gazing out of the cab window.
"How was last night?"
"Oh. Um, good," he lies evasively.
"So you're dating now. Aw, Barney's got a girlfriend," Lily playfully elbows him.
"No, I don't," he says defensively, "We're not… we've been on two dates, that's all- it's not like we're not getting married or buying houses with pools or having kids or anything, okay?"
"Gees, okay. I was only asking," she retorts, slightly hurt.
"And I'm only telling you that it was fine!"
He's tempted to snap at her to get off his case, but he knows that he'd only sound like a thirteen-year-old arguing with his Mom.
Barney goes back to looking out of the window, but Lily notices how he's nervously fidgeting with the buttons on his suit.
"I'll be there if you feel scared," she adds softly.
"I know," he says, without looking at her.
He just wishes that she'd been there last night when he was scared.
